Sibiu aka Hermenstadt is absolutely beautiful and the food is delicious. Don't forget to visit the Bruckental, a once German school in Hermenstadt (until 20 years ago a big part of the population in all of Sibiu was of German origin) If you are ever in Romania, order mici (a sort of grilled meat in sausage form. It will be the best grilled thing you've ever tasted).
Brukenthal Museum, Brukenthal Palace and the Gymnasium are still German, named after Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, who lived here in Avrig and Hermannstadt.. the Gymnasium, Highschool is still teaching in German and it’s one of the top3 in the city

1:51 I don't think that the capital of Transylvania is Brasov. Although it is a beautiful and historical town but in my opinion Cluj Napoca is the capital of Transylvania.
As a Romanian that lives outside of the country, and observing from a foreigner point a view, Brasov is by far the most beautiful and well organized city, it's give you the sense of safety, because the streets are modernized very well (cables hidden beneath earth and new street illumination). Cluj has a beautiful center, and for the rest is like the rest of Romania, full of grey buildings and horrible streets. Unfortunately the communist heritage is ruining esthetically Romania, and after 31 years, there is still people that preserve the communist style till today, by painting the inside of the buildings like in the communist times. I always said, that to improve Romanians life style, we should demolish most of the communist buildings creating parking lots and park's, and they should move in houses outside the city.

I really recomand visiting Alba Iulia also called the second capital. It is very well known for the fortress that has been built several hunderts years ago by the Romans around the begining of the 3dh century .
I recommend visiting Maramureș, especially for the Merry Cemetary in Săpânța, and if you have the time, Sighet Prison, which is an old communist prison, is worth checking out as well. Another touristic attraction is Bear's Cave, in Bihor, and while you're there, Oradea is a nice town to visit :)

Ehsan Sheikh not all of it is accurate. Brasov was never a capital, it isn't seen as a capital from a cultural perspective it isn't even that big. Cluj and Timisoara are the two biggest cities from Transilvania and its cultural centers.
It is wonderful living style, it seems there is no much pollution from new technologies. It reminds me our livelihoods when I was a little boy in Tibet. In India I met a beautiful Romania girl but unfortunately I have lost her contact due to something happened to my email. Her name is Caroline. Maybe the spelling of name is not right! I promised her to keep our contact! Hopefully they keep their traditional style of living with nature. It seems physically hard but I am sure mentally much more happy than highly developed countries with technology. God's blessings to those people forever.
