When building a studio, listening space or home theatre from scratch you can actually negate having to use acoustic panels at all. If you use high quality insulation in the walls like OC703 you can use acoustically transparent cloth (like you used to cover the speakers) to cover the entire walls rather than sheetrock, essentially turning all of your walls into acoustic panels. If you use cloth on the ceiling too and some sort of metal mesh to hold the insulation you can even turn your ceiling into a giant bass trap.
Then instead of building absorption panels to hang on the walls, you can build diffusion panels to add diffused, controlled reflections back into the room so it doesn’t sound uncomfortable and borderline anechoic.

@@kiwibird8441 If it is installed correctly and fastened to the ceiling beams it will not rattle at all.
The only possible acoustic issue would be resonance, but if there is acoustic insulation resting on the metal mesh that will absorb and mute any resonances.
You could also just use extra wooden beams to hold the acoustic insulation in place if you are worried about metal rattling or resonating, but it will add more hard surfaces and therefor more reflections.

I've never thought to do this! Excellent video except 1 thing.
You spent a lot of time and attention to detail on the build, which is impressive. You've even got what looks like really high end speakers and subwoofers, then you decided to go subpar on the amplifier with an AVR instead of separates?
    Why?
Why spend all that money to skimp on the sound right there?
Do your system a massive upgrade and get rid of the AVR, get a pre-pro and external amplification.
    You'll NEVER regret it.
Edit: both subs in 1 location will do nothing to help reduce room modes. Another missed opportunity was not using the rear riser space as another subwoofer enclosure. Multi sub in multiple locations will help smooth out the bass response.

KUDOS to you and this amazing project!!! I made my guest house garage into an 18 seat theatre which had an older CRT ceiling mount projector, motorize 12’ screen and vintage theatre seats. Hung sound dampening curtains around the perimeter of the room. I had a karaoke pioneer LASER DISC PLAYER attached to a vintage entertainment center under the screen with newer high grade speakers and a 150 watt sub woofer. At the back of the room, i installed a 14” monitor so the singers could face the audience and still read the words to the song. NOTHING LIKE WHAT YOU DID, but after our theatre group performed, we would come to my place to watch the performance video make fun of our on stage faux pas!!! Maybe you can send helper nephew Mark from Texas out here to California to help me with future upcoming projects, looks like a well organized young man and hard worker!!!

Big is like sub woofers.. if the room isn't big enough, you don't get the advantage of the bass having enough room to develop.
