    This is such a great interview. I feel like I found my people:) (I have read From the Outside In twice, and I expect to read it again…)

      That's how I feel, too! I'm glad we're all slowly starting to find each other 😃😃😃

      @@learneratheart2564 Are you Luke? If so, what are the resources you're using to get your ALG hours for Mandarin? My sister has a fairly decent level of Mandarin, but is looking for resources to improve via a more ALG-like approach.

      @@kat7874 Hi! Yea, I'm Luke :) I'm 540 hours into Spanish right now, but when I get back to Chinese I will most likely use @comprehensiblemandarin and @ALGmandarin and make my own resources as well if I find it necessary haha

      Sorry, I thought with the "@" symbol they would turn into channel links. You can find both those channels here on TH-cam and see what they offer.

    Hey Joel, could please briefly explain the main difference between TPRS and ALG?

    • @jantelakoman
      @jantelakoman  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As I understand it, TPRS is big on "establishing meaning" of words in isolation before encountering these words in input. If I remember correctly its creator said "we don't have time for noise."
      ALG has none of that, in a way it's all about the noise. If the input is comprehensible on the level of the overall message and purpose of the interaction, your brain will "automatically" find the signal in the noise.

      @@jantelakoman Ah, I see, that makes quite a difference. Thank you, thank you so much for your help, now it is clearer.
