    I ordered 200$ worth of Bucephalandra from Buceplant. Plant's came in healthy and looked great. I have two Kessil A160WE for my 36 gallon bow (overkill, but I have a large brace that was causing a huge shadow in the tank). The Kessil's only ramp up to 40% and are on an 8 hour schedule. Even powered down, some of the Buce melted and have GSA all over the leaves. Just a cautionary tale. I've read that Buce can be grown under high light. Not in my experience. Find a shady spot for them.

    Just a note: That chlorophyll a & b picture has plagued the hobby for some time and was shown to be false. The entire leaf accepts a much wider spectrum of blue and red. The spectrum of the RGB light is not "more optimal" towards plants growth but towards aesthetics for the viewer.

    What do you do if you have a hood on your aquarium? Mine came with an LED light but I don't know how strong it is. I can switch it from white to blue

    Are there any dimmers compatible with the UNS titan light? Its overkill for the shallow tank I mounted it to.

    • @BucePlant
      @BucePlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't currently have one. The Titan is a strong light for sure. Have you tried raising the light higher from the surface of the tank? This would help.

    What wattage would you need for an aquarium? I keep hearing around 3-5 watts per gallon. I’m trying to run a 15 gallon aquarium but the lights are too long for it.

      Hey there, is your tank rimless? If so, you should check out the Twinstar EA vr. IV. It has a built-in dimmer! buceplant.com/products/twinstar-led-ea-iv-series-aquarium-light-fixture

    I'm building a 36x18x36 paludarium and am wondering if I will have to do a combination of lighting types, one for the background plants, and one for the aquatic plants. The water will only be 9" deep, however the light is positioned 30" above the water source. Currently I have a 36" Fluval plant which should work fine for the terrestrial plants, but I'm thinking the aquatic plants might benefit from a small spot lamp, so they get enough light w/o burning the plants positioned towards the top of the paludarium.

    • @danm8004
      @danm8004 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I think you're overcomplicating it by doing what you've suggested. I don't know everything by any means though, so feel free to spend the extra time and money and report back with your results for us poor, lazy folk ;)
      FYI: I've been using the aquasky for some quite demanding aquatic plants and had great success. There's no way the plant 3.0 will struggle with your setup by itself unless it's positioned in such a way as not to hit the aquatics at all.

    • @BucePlant
      @BucePlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you considered only planting low-demanding, low-tech plants in the water column? Plants like Anubias, Bucephalandra, and Cryptocoryne would do great in a low-light setting.

    • @danm8004
      @danm8004 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BucePlant agreed, java fern would do well also. Basically just go heavy on epiphytes, right?

    • @BucePlant
      @BucePlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danm8004 Yes! Exactly. You might also be able to include low-tech stems such as Bacopa, Water Wisteria, Egeria Densa, etc. if you plan on using an aquarium soil.

      @@BucePlant nice one, I quite like limnophila sessiliflora and hygrophila polysperma for stems, would they do well in this use case?

    Hey! I have a question! I have a 48inch by 19inch tank 60 gallon, what would be the best light for it? I have bunch of plants that are doing good but the lights in the tank are giving out so I’ll have to replace it ASAP

    This came at a great time, but I’m still confused. I’m refurbing an old tank (20+ year old) 190L half moon Jebo R790 with a plastic hood & tube lighting. It has 2 original white tube lights & an original blue tube light. They all work still with no flickering. The tank is in relatively good condition & I’m wondering if I should change them to LED or not. I can’t find much information on the setup itself, so I’m guessing the lights are good for a planted tank. I don’t intend to use c02 but I do want lots of plants. If I do change them I will have to remove the fixtures from the tubes & im not too keen on that. What would you recommend? Love your style of videos, look forward to more ❤️🇦🇺

    • @BucePlant
      @BucePlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, thanks for commenting. We always recommend using an LED lights for growing freshwater aquarium plants. Otherwise, you are at risk of losing your plants you end up purchasing for your aquarium. However, if you are leaning towards keeping the original lights, just make sure to do your research to ensure they will be adequate. If you ever need recommendations for a new lighting fixture, feel free to reach out to us! Always happy to help. Good luck 👍

    • @MissChelle
      @MissChelle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I’ll check out tubes first & see if they are ok, if not I’ll change to new LED. What would you recommend in that case? Remember it’s in a hooded lid thingy 😀

    • @BucePlant
      @BucePlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MissChelle I see, just looked at the Jebo R790 and I understand your concerns. You are right, it would be difficult to purchase a new, separate light for the tank unless maybe the hood was kept completely off.

      Assuming the tank does not get a significant amount of natural sunlight, then you can set your hours to when you will be around to enjoy the tank most often!

    I hate to be "that guy" but I wanted to let you know I watched this vid in 1.25x speed. Still able to take in all the info at that speed... Just made the BG music sound a little annoying lol the only reason I say this is because I wanted to give you a full view but it was gonna take a while. Most viewers would say to shorten videos but I disagree. It's not directly the length of the video it's just that humans are capable of understanding information faster than the average rate of speech. I love the raw videos, for example, from Aquarium Co-Op but they tend to drag on and I may not watch the full video.
