Scream 2 Movie Description:
Sydney (Neve Campbell) and tabloid reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) survived the events of the first "Scream," but their nightmare isn't over. When two college students are murdered at a sneak preview of "Stab," a movie based on the events from the first film, it's clear a copycat killer is on the loose. Sydney and Gail, as well as fellow survivors Deputy Dewey (David Arquette) and Randy (Jamie Kennedy) have to find out who is behind this new murder spree, before they all end up dead.
Scream 2 is a 1997 American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. It stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jamie Kennedy, Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O'Connell, Elise Neal, Timothy Olyphant, Jada Pinkett and Liev Schreiber. The film was released on December 12, 1997, less than a year after the first, by Dimension Films, as the second installment in the Scream film series. It was followed by three sequels, Scream 3 (2000), Scream 4 (2011), and Scream (2022). Scream 2 takes place two years after the first film and again follows the character of Sidney Prescott (Campbell), and other survivors of the Woodsboro massacre, at the fictional Windsor College in Ohio, where they are targeted by a copycat killer using the guise of Ghostface.
Like its predecessor, Scream 2 combines the violence of the slasher genre with elements of comedy, satire and "whodunit" mystery while satirizing the cliché of film sequels.
Williamson provided a five-page outline for a sequel to Scream when auctioning his original script, hoping to entice bidders with the potential of buying a franchise. Following a successful test screening of Scream and the film's financial and critical success, Dimension moved forward with the sequel while Scream was still in theaters, with the principal cast all returning to star, Craven to direct and Beltrami to provide music.
The film suffered controversy following its significant issues with plot information leaking onto the Internet, revealing the identity of the killers. Combined with the film's rushed schedule, the script was rewritten often; pages were sometimes completed on the day of filming. Despite these issues, Scream 2 earned $172.4 million at the box office, only $683,362 less than Scream, and received positive reviews from critics, with some arguing that it surpassed the original in quality.
Beltrami received positive critical reception for his score for evolving the musical themes of the characters created in Scream, although some critics claimed that the most memorable pieces from the film were created by composers Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer. Elfman's contribution had been specially written for the film, but Zimmer's score for Broken Arrow was controversially used in the film, replacing Beltrami's own work. The film's soundtrack achieved moderate sales success, reaching number 50 on the Billboard 200.

The boyfriend was actually supposed to be the killer. But the script got leaked so they rewrote it to be the other guy. A lot of the script was rewritten as a result.

Just watched the new one today and I gotta admit, I don't think there is a single weak entry in the franchise (and yes, I even liked the third one). It still feels fresh despite the franchise being over 25 years old at this point. And Sarah Michelle Gellar was popping off in the damn late 90s. She got Scream 2, I know what you did last summer and buffy the vampire slayer in 97', and Cruel Intentions in 99', all absolute 90s classics and staples of pop culture.

Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard was FUCKING AMAZING in the first movie and the ONLY killers in the franchise who 'didn't change' personality in the final act. Two of the best killers by far. BTW.
You're right about Neve Campbell. Sydney Prescott is my favorite character in any horror movie.
I went to the college they filmed most of the movie at - Agnes Scott College in Decatur GA - right outside Atlanta. Which makes this movie by far the most expensive home movie I could have asked for! It's a realllll blast knowing all the places they filmed. Like they used multiple different buildings to make up Sydney's dorm for the opening. Heck, I graduated under the enormous tree that she has the conversation with her boyfriend at later in the movie. I worked in the Library where Cotton confronts her. Heck, even the dining hall - makes me happy to see - which btw - the mural in the background of that scene is totally fake just for the movie.

Sidney is THE FINAL GIRL. Not only was she smart on her feet, but she would kick the fuck out of ghost face. While taunting him.
Horror Queen, and her character never became a satire of herself. We always felt for her. Cause she had already been through so much before this.
Tori spelling who was in Scary Movie 2 was in this film playing Sidney in Stab because in the first film Sydney had mentioned that if the killings were made into a movie Tori spelling would play her and Luke Wilson would also be in it (the guy in the wig in Stab). Its a call back
And Dewey thought a young Meg Ryan should play Sidney.

Scream is a solid franchise. I liked the 5th one. Even the weakest of the series is a good watch imo.

The ghostface costume was available in stores around Halloween 1991-1992, known as "Peanut-Eyed Ghost," according to Wikipedia. So they found this costume in a house during location filming and bought the rights to use it from the costume company.
scream 5 exceeded my expectations. I liked it so much that I went and watched it online about an hour after getting back from the theater. I had about 3 issues with it, but I still highly recommend it for fans of the franchise.
I've seen it twice as well. Once online, and in the theatre. Might go see it at the movies again. But It's that freaking hospital scene with that I can't stand. The one with the sisters and it's all dramatic. It's just so bad I can't see how they kept it in the movie lol

Dewey's theme is actually temp score from another movie called Broken Arrow (1996), it's a John Woo action film.
Scream 2 was probably one of my favorite movies in the series. 1 will always be the best to me but this one definitely was an amazing follow up.

The acting in the first is masterful. You gotta think about the reality of it. Billy is psychotic and feels that way. Skeet who plays Billy is great, Billy when trying to play dead isn't supposed to be great acting because the characters not an actor. Stu's vibrancy goes in line with his psychosis.
The Stab movie is based on Gale's (the reporter) book based on what happened during the first movie. She did her research and probably saw crime scene photos and also talked to Dooie. That's how she learned all the details like the popcorn and such.

I saw a Scream 5 for my birthday this last weekend and I'm not going to give any spoilers but I will say this watch Scream 3 and 4 and most definitely see Scream 5 I honestly felt it was a little bit different but yet also familiar and I really enjoyed it

I actually did seen Scream 2 before even seeing the first one. Bot were rated R (well the french equivalent) and I turned 16 the summer the second one came out, so I did go see it for my birthday. I liked it so much I wrote a fanfiction about a hypothetical 4th movie (I knew a third one was already on pre-production) and made it read to classmates that had seen the movies. Both of them told me that it was OK, but a little too similar to the 1st one... which I haven't seen by that time. I took it as a compliment.
If you go back to the first scream movie, it was talked about tori spelling playing Sydney in a movie based on her life.
Fun fact about Sydney's boyfriend in this one, it's actually the same guy who played the fat kid Vern in Stand By Me

Randy's argument about the Star Wars trilogy is deeply flawed and a misconception, they never planned to make any sequels to Star Wars during production and was never a planned trilogy at first. A New Hope was just an experiment to see if it would be a hit or not, when it was a mega worldwide success, they decided to make Empire and Jedi. It wasn't like Lord of the Rings where it was already written as a trilogy and set in stone. So, Empire is definitely a sequel just like any other sequel that was only made because the first movie was successful.
I understand what youbmean by the acting of the first movie. But something we also gotta keep in mind is back in the 90's people that looked and acted like Billy did were considered hot by a fair amount of people.
Something i like about Scream is that it gives us a pretty solid depiction of how tastes change throughout the years.
I love the first one but this one is slight more entertaining to me, I love all the Scream movies though I’ve yet to see the 5th one. You should react to Stand By Me at some point, I think you would enjoy it and Sydney’s boyfriend in this is in it as a kid

Scream 3 is campy. It's more of a dark comedy. It's better if you don't take it so seriously. It's my favourite of the series.
I absolutely love this series! I love all of the horror movie references in the first one. I love how the movies break the "rules" of the genre and the self awareness was very refreshing for the time these movies came out. I think they also did a good job with Scream 5, but I guessed the killers in like five minutes.
You should watch the faculty! Great movie. Also written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk til Dawn, Sin City, amongst MANY others). Super entertaining.
The original is still the best imo and scream 2 is my favorite sequel from this franchise I still love 3,4, and 5 but 2 is favorite sequel to watch. Sidney is such a badass and the best final girl

I used to love the tv show Jerry O'Connell did (he's the guy playing Derek) when I was 10. He did "My secret Identity" where he played a comic book nerd that gained superpowers. I loved the show and when I grew up he did Sliders (also loved it) and Scream 2.
I saw this one in the theater with my friends. We were laughing and screaming a lot on a Friday night in that theater, but were all spooked when we got home. In Sarah Michelle Gellar's scene(the girl in the sorority house) we were all screaming "NO..don't kill Buffy!!" because at the time she had become huge for her role as "Buffy" in the awesome tv show "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." Everyone was excited for this sequel. I think it had the same effect as Halloween meaning that everyone was surprised the first one was that good.

The first is definitely the best because it was the one that started the horror/slasher/comedy run that went on during this time. I feel this one was a little more 'fun' than the first one. It was a little more over the top, added a little more cheesy moments and jump scares, but just a fun movie. The 3rd movie is definitely more campy and what not, but I still liked it because it was different from the first 2 in some ways. I saw this in theaters for a friend's birthday when I was a kid and some of my friends had to be escorted out because they started crying. Love this movie haha.
In terms of chases, the 2nd one sucks, and how people died, worse then the first.

If I remember the best friend was supposed to be the killer but someone leaked the entire script so they had to do a rewrite. Sadly scream is plagued with this happening. Scream 3 it happens they had to do a different script as well as scream 4.

Torri Spelling as "Sydney" in Stab is a joke from the first movie, when Sydney, Tatum and Dewey were talking about if they made a movie about them, who would be cast Sydney. Dewey says that he saw her as a young Meg Ryan. Sydney says "With my luck, I'd get Tori Spelling". So sure enough, they got Tori Spelling as "Sydney" for Stab lol...

It was the same year she start playing the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You should check her out in the horror movie "I know what you did last summer"
Some fun facts for you.
1. During CiCi (Sarah Michelle Gellar) scene there's quite a few references. She was talking to Selma Blair on the phone before she talked to ghostface. They co-stared in Cruel Intentions together and when they were talking on the phone they were talking about Bailey on Party of Five which was the tv series that Neve Campbell was doing during all of the three Screams. Also, Jennifer Love Hewitt was also in Party of Five as Baileys girlfriend thats who they were talking about regarding to a break up. Which she also co-star in IKWYDLS. She also turned on a vampire movie as a reference to her Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar was very busy in 97 she was doing this, I know what you did last summer and 2nd season of Buffy
2. When Randy mentioned about Gales nude pictures and how her head was on Jennifer Aniston body it was a funny towards Friends aswell with David Schwimmer playing Dewey in Stab especially since he plays Ross as Monica's brother. They also did a funny one liner in Scream 3 when Gale was talking to this girl Jennifer played by Parker Posey "sorry about Brad Pitt and that's a pretty good fall back". That was towards Jennifer Aniston aswell lol.
3. Billy's mother Ms. Loomis is Laurie Metcalf she played on Roseanne as Jackie.
4. Originally it was supposed to be Derek and Hallie as the killers and Mikey as the supportive friend but it got leaked so they changed it to Ms. Loomis and Mikey as the killers.
I can confirm from cosplaying Ghostface that running around in the mask is hard. Because to black out the eyes completely you have to wear like a morph mask underneath thus making it impossible to see that well.
I can’t wait for you to see the rest. Scream 4 is my favorite sequel so I can’t wait to see your take away.

chhh i WISH we were still paying 7.50 to see a movie lol the 90sss!! 5 is MEGA META. There are a few things I could've done without however, I still love it.
