  • Having purchased both the bar end mirror and indicator / turn signal separately for the Honda CX500 cafe racer project and liked them both I had to think of a way to combine them, in this video I do away with the rubber adaptor and couple the 2.

    Great video, I bought these mirrors and indicators for my project but couldn't figure out how to combine them. So I used the standard indicators so I'm going out my garage right now to do this.

    I've not seen you for a while, so I'm just catching up. I have just bought the exact indicators and mirrors for my ZX6R, although it's on the back burner due to a couple of jobs I've taken on. Apparently the GXS750F first generation is going to become a modern day classic, i hope their right, although I must admit that I haven't seen a lot for sale. Keep it up mate, it's nice to see what others are building, and the process your going through.

      hi glad u read it.
      waiting for an update on the next build 41 .
      dont knw if u take this bt i have a few suggestions to make.
      i like the build as of now but ..
      the front end sort of rather look tiny
      cant u put a front fork like tht of a GSXR brakes included.
      and the exhaust would have looked smashing but i dont knw why bt the current one looks short for some reason , or you should have put the twin exhaust on both sides.
      or a single exhaust like the one you have for the 750 build it was a killer.
      oh and the wheels it sort of looks shabby and outdated for some reason . how about some full blacked out spokes tht would be smashing. hope u look into this love ur works a huge fan of yours😍😍

    That whole assembly will shake loose within the first 5 mins of riding (which you´ve no doubt found out) .. those indicators are designed to be used with the included rubber bung so they can be wound in hand tight which is enough to make them tight .. the alu splitters you cut down need to be wound up hard with Allan key/wrench in order to make them hang on and even then they have a hard time eventually not shaking loose

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love those bar end indicators and am planning on fitting the same to the cafe I’m building. Quick question though, would you still need indicators on the rear for the mot or not as these can be seen from front and rear?

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% you need some at the rear also for MOT

    • @forthebold

  • @trackingtim
    @trackingtim 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been wanting to do the same thing, but just had a concern over glare. Do you find that the LED creates a glare or blindspot in the mirror when you're signaling?

      @forthebold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No no issues for me

  • @willsimon3960
    @willsimon3960 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm looking to use bar-end indicators as my rear turn signals by mounting them inside the frame (as you would for the handle bar) at the point where I cut the seat loop. I haven't found any examples of people doing this and am kind of reluctant because of this. Is there any reason not to? Cheers

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess if you're going to create the hole size needed in your frame you're going to jeopardise the strength, unless I'm thinking you mean plug it straight into where the frame is cut (the hole there) I don't would work as it'll be facing the wrong direction. But, if there's a safe, non structural place to put them on the rear in theory they'd be fine I think.

    Problem is that the tightening up by hand simply does not work as the mirror does not stay tight... it is just a poor design... Regards!

      It’s not too bad if you can tighten it tight enough once they’re in the right place

      Might look into estate auctions around ya for some cheap options. Even older machines with some refurbishing are very worth it! Makes straight cuts on metal a whole lot easier to achieve. If you end up wanting to spend some money on new equipment though I would also recommend looking into a cold saw.
