I’m looking for some feedback on this one. I tried a few things different in this video.
    1. I added music.
    2. I added backgrounds to many of the scenes.
    3. I switched up the thumbnail a bit.
Let me know what you think of these changes!

Not exactly. I used tags and all that stuff, but I don’t think I really know how to do research on key words. What does that entail?

I like the video. Music is on point, the graphics are good (I like the backgrounds), but you glance over some important points.
Sweden bought 10 of the Strv m/21, and then upgraded 5 of them them with a new engine and gearbox and called the new vehicle Strv m/21-29.
There were two m/31 - both the 1 fm/31, which was an attempt to create a tank with wheel and track propulsion and the 3 m/31 (Landsverk L-10) which were a predecessor to the m/40. Both models were used for tests and training and never issued to combat units.
Sweden also bought 2 Carden-Lloyd tankettes (1 Mk IV and 1 Mk VI) and 1 Renault NC-27 for trials before the war.
In 1937, Sweden bought 48 Czechoslovak CKD AH-IV light tanks (armed with 2 MGs) and named it Strv m/37. 1 Landsverk L-120 (also 2 MGs) was also purchased for tryouts, but never given a proper name.
However, you miss the timeline of the Landsverk tank somewhat. When the war broke out, Sweden had 16 Strv m/38 (Landsverk L-60) and during late 1940 and early 1941, 20 Strv m/39 were delivered. Immediately after the delivery of the last Strv m/39, the delivieres of the 100 Strv m/40 commenced.
The Strv m/31, m/38 , m/39 and m/40 all had well-sloped, welded armour and modern torsion bar suspension and a powerful 37mm gun (it was the hardest-hitting 37mm gun in the world until the US mounted the 37mm M6 in Stuarts in 1942) and I would argue that any of these models were superior to the Pz III up until the 50mm-armed F (and later) model.
Swedish armour situation when the war broke out:
      In combat units
      Armoured cars:
      31 Pbil m/31.
      Tanks:
      48 Strv m/37.
      16 Strv m/38.
In depots (used for training, but could have been brought out if the situation was desperate):
      Armoured cars:
      1 Pbil fm/25.
      1 Pbil fm/26.
      1 Pbil fm/29
15 Pbil m/39 (would be re-armed and taken into service early 1940).
5 Pbil m/41 (would be supplied with a Swedish turret and taken into service late 1941).
      Tanks:
      1 Strv m/21
      5 Strv m/21-29.
      1 Strv fm/28 (Renault NC-27).
      1 Strv fm/31.
      3 Strv m/31.
      2 Strv m/Carden-Lloyd (1 Mk IV, 1 Mk VI).
      1 Landsverk L-120.
During the war, Swedish industry delivered:
      Tanks:
      20 Strv m/39.
      180 Strv m/40.
      116 Strv m/41 SI.
      106 Strv m/41 SII.
262 Strv m/42 (based on the Landsverk Lago).
      APC:
      363 Kpbil m/42.
      Armoured cars:
      30 Pbil m/40.
      Assault guns:
18 Sav m/43 (another18 were delivered immediately after the war).
      Self-propellered AT:
1 Pvkv m/43 (86 more delivered immediately after the war due to gearbox problems).
Swedish Landsverk tanks actually saw combat - they were sold the the Dominican Republic and used against the US invasion in 1965. The Hungarians license-produced the L-60 as Toldi, and those tanks saw a lot of combat on the Eastern Front.
      Strv 74 was a re-turreted Strv m/42, not Strv m/40.

"Stridsvagn" means "tank", but if you translate it right over, it's "battle wagon". The Swedish militaries always have those names, like: "Stridsbåt 90" which means "Battle boat 90". For a Swedish person like me, that actually sounds pretty badass, if you know the correct pronounciation.

    • @niklasmolen4753
      @niklasmolen4753 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Strid is probably better translated into combat. So it will probably be the combat wagon and the combat boat.
Chariot and tank have the same name in Sweden. If you want, you can use it in the translation if you want to be funny.

    • @niceguy1891

I'll probably spend the whole day bingewatching your videos and I have scheduled to email you about it but are you interested in doing more about Cold War topics and maybe collab on those? I want to limit myself to presenting what my channelname suggests although I'd be very tempted to stray off topic dozens of times with little anecdotes and events that almost ended the world and I'd bet that some of those will peak your interest.
Back to topic, love your way of presentation and humor, the fact that you seem to research quite thouroughly (and bonuspoints for seeing source material listed under at least one of your vids) and choose interesting subjects that you brilliantly support with those drawings - looking forward to future uploads, I will recommend you to my buddies :)

I actually didn’t know that! That’s pretty cool. In America, nuclear power is pretty controversial, so no new ones have been built in a very long time.

Well... You totally forgot to explain why the S is so damn good. It's Science Fiction Tank come true. You also totally forgot the Strv 101, 102 and 104 (a heavily modified english Centurion tank). The 104 was used until about 2000.
I used to serve on one and we always used to win the big battle trainings against the Strv 121 and 122. The 104 is not a superior tank compared to the 121/122 but we could practise alot on them because they were really cheap.

    Some feedback, at 4:31 the Swedish tank designer said that S in S-tank stood for Stridsvagn. As the bigbrain I am, I can tell you that the S in S-tank literally means Sweden (or translated from the swedish designation "Stridsvagn - Sverige") this name was used because it actually fought against 3 other alternatives of tanks for the contract of the new swedish MBT in 1957;
-The American and British "A-tank" was a 50 ton tank with great protection and mediocre maneuverability, which was a M60 or Chieftain.
-The German and French "T-tank" (the T is for the Swedish name of Germany "Tyskland" because a german D (as in Deuschland) sounds roughly the same way as a T in Swedish The T-tank was a 30 ton weak protection but great maneuverability alternative in the type of Leopard 1.
-and last but not least the Swedish S-tank, which would be a perfect in between of the other two alternatives, 30 tonnes with great maneuverability, but also great armour.
www.ointres.se/strv_103.htm the link is to a swedish site which goes in more detail about the tank's development and conception with great details of prototypes and other ideas along the way. You might not be able to read it now but if you translate the site in some way I promise you'll have a good read if you're interested in tank history, maybe I could tell you some other time of when a Messerschmitt 410 was shot down by swedish AA trying to shoot down the B-17 "lackin Shackin" (which also was shot down by Swedish AA). When the burning wreckage of the 410 hit the ground it also hit an off duty aa crewman on his way to his aa emplacement (yes this is true) outside my town in southern sweden.

    Great video! I love it!
But I have one issue with those early swedish designs.
There's one thing that angers me a bit as a czech person. Like 40% ("german"made tanks) of the german tank designs are variants of czech tanks. Just look at czech vz 35 or 38 and then look at pzkpfw. 3 and 4. (GERMANS SOLD the first designs to swedish army BUT those designs were mostly czech, It's always nice when you get no credit for what you were doing as a nation)
(look up tanks like : 1) LT vz. 38 / PzKpfW 38(t) (SdKfz 140) ; 2) Stridsvagn m/38 (Strv m/38) ; 3) Stridsvagn L-60 (Strv L-60) and many more. Just some of them so you know I'm not lying)

    • @HistoryHouseProductions
      @HistoryHouseProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, the early German designs especially were pretty heavily based on Czech tanks. I read a book that talked about that.

The Swedish L60 did see a lot of combat, except it wasn't called L60 and wasn't Swedish. Hungary acquired the manufacturing license and produced a lot of them under the name "Turan". A bunch of derivatives were also developed, like the "Turan II" and the "Zrinyi" assault gun. The Turan and the Turan II were obsolete by the time they saw combat from 1941, so they indeed sucked. For instance they couldn't turn on their tracks like most other tanks, only in a circle. The Zrinyi was a very good weapon though, roughly on par with the German STuG-III, except it still had riveted armor. It wasn't a serious drawback against infantry. Another variant of the Turan tank was the "Nimrod" air defense vehicle, armed with a 40 mm Bofors gun, also a fairly good piece of hardware.

Also do you need an animator? I'll do it for the popularity and maybe a percentage of the ad profits if that ever happens. In exchange, I'll be looking for contributors on my new channel when that becomes a thing. I'm a meh level animator but I can give you mouth animations and some other basic movements.

To be fair no turret means less steel low profile and not by default a bad performance. The Stug 3 was Germany’s deadliest AFV and it had no turret, in fact the panzer 3 which did, fared worse because having a turret usually means less ability to mount effective guns.
