I hope everyone understands that Sweden, being a neutral country not belonging to any form of military alliance (NATO neither Warsaw), has always had to rely on its own production of military hardware, because we cannot rely on importing stuff if we end up going to war with the one we buy the stuff from. And the tanks are just one chapter of many homemade productions. From a country of less then 10 million people, weve made our own tanks, artillery, vehicles, warplanes, submarines, warships, rockets, guns and uniform. It has cost us alot of money, but its the price you pay to stay (relatively) independent in a cold war world.

It is though a half truth (sorry for the weird English there) that Swedish tank building is down because the industry that used to manufacture tanks and other armored vehicles has shift over to develop new and more effective types of ammunition both independently and in cooperation with other countries like the excalibur round which was developed together with the Americans. Sweden did actually not really stay neutral in WW2 as a comment read earlier but we did not just help the Germans, Finnish or Norwegians. Swedish army personnel teached together with the Norwegian resistance American agents in arctic warfare and survival. The Swedish airforce listened to both Soviet and nazi Germany military radio chatter and supplied both Norway, Finland, The UK and USA with info.

The netherlands were the inventors of the leopards and producers.I should know this, my family works on the production of leopards and we have been doing so for 50-60 years by now.And yes were dutch, some polish guys help with small tasks tho, but building, drawing and calculating is 100% dutch.

Sweden still kinda makes tanks, or atleast modifies them alot to fit our conditions. But there is the Archer wich is a speciall artillery peice.
