The Swedish Strv 74 is a very strange looking light tank. It is hilariously skinny and tall, looking like an M47 Patton that was stuffed into a trash compactor. It is very slow but has a nice cannon that can fire potent APHE shells or APDS. I do wish Gaijin would fix APDS so that it can return to being useful.

The Weirdest Light Tank - เกม
I know something way uglier and way weirder. It’s name literally translates to Thing or Creature. You know him well, we all love him. Here we go. That’s right it’s the M50 Ontos. 6 105mm Recoilless guns on a cheese wedge chassis being manned by two of uncle Sams most courageous marines.
Spookston: “Why do I make such poor decisions?” - Gets 8 kills in a game
Me: Flanks the enemy and only gets 3 kills
Me: you get kills?
Me: They allowed you to Flank?
Me: you got to play the game?
It is because he asks that question that he gets this many. Perhaps you too should ask that from yourself.
Me flanks enemy: Gets 1 kill 8 assists 3 deaths
Something a bit more weird is the swing fire and you had so much fun with the last one I said you should play

the STRV-74 is such a strange looking tank. I cant tell if its a stretched M-41 or a Squished M-47.

As wierd as the Strv 74 is, it is suprisingly effective in game. If you can take advantage of the gun depression it doesn't show much of its grotesque turret.
Something I'm curious about is if they can model the backup generator that it has in the turret bustle. It had an aux generator in back to allow for power to the turret w/o having the main engine running.
I'm just a fan of odd and unusual tank designs, which is why I also love tanks like the Strv 103 and Object 416. (Gaijin please don't add Obj 416... it's not good...)
Its an absolute hulldown monstrosity. You get high pen APHE to 1 shot most enemys and for when a tiger 2 or the like comescalog you have APDS. Which it can frontaly pen if theyre unangled.
That grotesque turret is also surprisingly sturdy. The mantel, despite it's thin armor, is more effective than you'd think thanks to it's shape.
This tank is quite fun in world of Tanks for the reasons this tank is unique in WT.
Is the 416 the pancake tank with the rear mounted turret ?
Also a large number of tanks. If not the majority. Had generators to power the turret when the engine is off. And they arnt modeled in game.
Here's a fun fact, the Stridsvagn 74 was nicked named "Sanslös" or senseless by her crews, due to the fact of how violently it would rock while firing at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions.

Yup. I used it before i got the centurions so i expected the centurions to be decent. But holy fuck. it is so much better than the centurions. Only issue is its reverse gese. But it bounces a LOT with its turret. Centurions were the single worst grind iv ever had.

@@alexhohl8530 i remember when centurions were 6.7 and britain had an insane lineup at that tier, then they bumped most of them up to 7.0 and then 7.3 :(

I'd say the Caernarvon tank is more underrated with its conqueror hull
The strv 74 is an amazing turreted tank destroyer. It amazing firepower for a medium tank. It also gets scouting like other light tanks, but that also means it shares it's weak armor with them. Sadly like most heavy tanks in its class, it's very slow.
I think it classed light tank because they changed the measuring. M26 Pershing was a heavy tank too, before they change to medium tank.
Strv 74 shares hull with old medium tanks. It was medium tank, but in it's small in its era

The reason you saw the airplane under the map at 2:30 was because the Tiger player respawned in one. The game always spawns the new vehicle at the players last instance point, then teleports them to the correct spawn.
does that mean that theoretically you can blow them up if you shoot fast enough?
3:40 is it just me or does it really look better when the turret is turned 180 degrees
I love how unique the Swedish tanks are, both in how they look and how they play which makes them really fun, you should play the Strv-103C next!

I hate fighting that tank in my KV-220. They’re always super annoying. You should see if you have the same experience by playing the KV-220 as well!
Not being able to decimate anything on your br bracket with a kv-220 is a severe skill issue

I like to think of this like a bulldog. Tall, has four crew, post-war design, and fires APDS that plays like a mixed bag

the Strv 74 is one of the greatest gems of the swedish TT. Swedish light tanks overall are one of the most fun of the game, especially the stuff you get after the Ikv-91

One thing I love about the Strv 74 is the geometry of its armor. With that insane slope on the turret, and great gun depression, you will bounce a surprising number of shots off your turret when you're hill sniping.
They tried adding rockets to the strv 74. In order to increase the ability to combat armor at long range, an assembly with 3 pcs Rb 52 was tried.Further changes were introduced, as the weight increased by approx. 4 tons, among other things the engine power was increased by introducing an injection system instead of a carburettor, there would also be better fuel economy with injection. Other changes included wider bands, double periscopes in the driver's hatch and lots of detail changes for eg ammunition storage, other radio stations etc.
I've been having fun playing the Char 25t, it's really low to the ground and is hard for people to notice. Plus its gun is pretty good and fast, so I recommend it!
Re-watching this video because it came up, after getting to 9.3 Sweden I can say this tank was one of my favorites during the grind.

Gaijins shell deformation physics are both a beauty and a curse in both war thunder and enlisted, that tiger pen at 1:31 is similar to me trying to kill a puma with an m5a1 in enlisted where if you fire through the upper front into the driver the solid shot deform into a curl and while still pens the armor, the driver absorbs the entire shell lol
The strv 74 is also apart of an amazing lineup for Sweden. That 5.7 BR is nice, just hope they get some 5.7 CAS, cause while the j21a3 is rad, the bf109s they got as back up start to fall off.
Bf109 G and Pyorremyrsky both slap even at 5.7. The A21 also has a pretty great bomb load

IIRC Swedish aphe is correctly modeled, which means it only has a cone shaped post pen instead of the spherical ones every other nation has. It's probably the reason some of those shots didn't oneshot

You should play the StuH42G, its got the 80mm armour plate on the front and is incredibly broken if you just make your opponent panic
Yeah specially when the german high pen guns are in your team. Getting 10 kills or more with it is pretty easy. And the gun is not bad at all, can pen pretty much anything and the damage is fine since you face a lot of small tanks
Day 4 Suggestion: try out the leopard 1, Its in a spot at 7.3 where it does very well, and in downtiers, faces WWII tanks that don't stand much of a chance, But also works decently well in upteirs against most vehicles due to the APDS or the HEATFS round it gets (I personally prefer APDS)

You should try the D.371, the French 20 mm biplane, I think it's fun playing with it as little ammo is given in my opinion.

because your are playing so much Swedish tanks, i think you will enjoy the Swedish light tank, ikv 91 it goes 40 mph top with lazer range finder and heatfs at 7.3. the only down side i can think of is its carboard armor I have lots of fun playing it and i think you should try it out
This is probably one of my favorite Swedish tanks because of its gun and odd yet cool design, and its apds can pen the ufp of a tiger 2

I love the gun depression on them. Gives you so much more flexibility on the field compared to other vehicles, especially the Ikv 103 with it's 400 pen HEATFS rounds kekw

I love me some more modern Japanese vehicles. I’ve always thought the Type 87 RCV would be a fun little speedy boi to play. Either that or the Type 89 IFV, don’t see much of that to my knowledge.

The Strv 74 was a cheap way to add a light tank beside the Centurion in the Swedish army after WW2. Basicly it's the Strv m/42 with a new turret given a Bofors 75 mm AA-gun. The gun is so big to the tiny tank, that it had to be balanced with clock type springs in the back. With the new turret the tank was 3.3 meter high, compared to 2.58 meter at the Strv m/42.
There was two versions of Strv 74; H with double hydraulic transmissions from Atlas diesel and V with a single mecanic Volvo transmission. Strv 74V served from 1957 to 1981 and Strv 74H to 1984. However, the tank was in it's original task replaced with the Strv 103 from the late 60's.
My two favourite things that were added: Sweedish crew saying "Mister Moon" and the absolute donations of the ammo rack fully cooking off and leaving a crater behind

Spookston I think you should do a gameplay video on the cm11, it’s truly a hidden Jem, it has the m1 abrams firing system, and an m48 turret mounted on a m60 body. This gives it a faster reload than the m60, it also makes up for most of the armor loss on the m48 turret by suiting it up in ERA

i have a theory on the ammo rack kills coming up as suicides
When gaijin redid the kill feed to recognize not just ammo types, but weapon types (different icons for machine guns vs cannons, and no tank MG kills are properly recognized) it broke the game's ability to process double kills from things like an ammo rack, which doesnt have its own kill label, and the game doesnt know what to attribute the death to ammo-wise
gaijin probably didnt even think double kills were still possible because of volumetric and HE nerfs.

This was a WWII Swedish tank that had a much smaller turret with a short 75 on it. After the war, the Swedes looked around and realized their tank was outclassed, so they designed a larger upgunned turret for it. Lo and behold you have the STRV 74. The turret's too big for the tank and it's clumsy as hell, but the Swedes figured they'd be fighting defense, and the thing didn't need to be a world beater. That accounts for the slow speed, bad mobility, and the incredible depression.
