    So how many of you have encountered this scenario where your BYD vehicle does not start up? How did you solve it? Comment and share your story.

    • @scott1198
      @scott1198 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hmmm, the Seal manual under "Low Voltage Battery" (p93) says that it's under the rear left seat. It says that To avoid low-voltage battery feed, the smart charging function will be actively triggered if conditions (hood closed, ignition "OFF", high voltage battery discharging allowed, and low voltage battery level lower than design value) are met. It points out that when the smart charging function is triggered, the low voltage battery is charged through the high voltage battery. It says that if "smart charging" fails, the low voltage battery may cut off the vehicle's power supply. It further says that if you find before use that the vehicle is not powered, try to activate the low voltage battery by pressing the driver door microswitch continuously, and immediately power on the vehicle to charge the low-voltage battery. It is recommended to charge it for more than 1 hour. Ah, it may be tempting to jump start it but a caution in the manual says "Do not jump-start the vehicle with another fuel vehicle, as this may damage the starter iron battery."

      Sounds like a reasonable conclusion about being in a workshop and so the car goes to 'sleep'. Wonders if other makes do the same?

      @@scott1198 What you've described might be a different Low Voltage battery scenario. For my case, my EV battery is charged to 100% and the smaller 12V battery is also working fine. The car just decides to go into that deep sleep for whatever reason.

    The same scenario happened for me two weeks ago. We had the two back doors and boot open for 45 mins while packing for a holiday. I opened the drivers door and there was enough power to automatically move the drivers seat back, but when I went to start the car everything was dead! It was out of hours for our local BYD EV service centre, so I called for roadside assistance. Unfortunately the technician that arrived had never seen a Seal and didn't even know where the 12v battery was stored. I show him :-). He eventually tested the 12v battery (it was flat), then put a jump-pack on it which allowed me to start the car. He could see the battery was being charged, but I wasn't confident to take the car away for the holiday and possibly be stranded away from further assistance. I spoke with the BYD service centre the following Monday morning and was then told about the 'Safe Mode' restart procedure ( 5 pushes on the drivers' door button), they booked the car in and checked the battery and charging system and found no problems. I now carry a battery jump-pack in the frunk. Three main points from this experience 1. It would have saved a lot of frustration if the is 'Safe Mode' feature had been explained at purchase time ( or communication sent out) 2. BYD should ensure that the contractors' they use for roadside assistance are trained on the basics of BYD cars. 3. Leave the car's main power ON if you intend to have the doors open for any extended length of time.
    BTW. I am loving my BYD Seal Premium, having travelled over 10,000km I still feel I've purchased the best car for the price.

      Wow @Batts42, thank you so much for sharing your experience with everyone. Glad you are sharing your experience and information with everyone through this video of mine. I am surprised to read that your roadside assistance technician tested the 12v battery and it's dead. I suspect it might be disconnected some how as the vehicle goes into deep sleep. Your scenario is exactly like mine except I didn't have roadside assistance to jump start the car, I simply do the continuous 5 button press technique, and the car revived. This tells me my 12v battery is not dead.
      Nevertheless, I could not agree with you more. I am still loving my BYD Seal despite all these and the best car I have every purchased.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Yes quite a number of us encountered the issue with "transport mode". I guess BYD did the right thing by having a transport mode so their crew won't take the car for a joy ride. They just need to set that mode to never come up when the car is delivered.

    There's a key icon for where you can put the keyfob inside the centre console under the armrest (in case of a flat key battery). I wonder if putting it there would also do the job

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am not sure, but I doubt that would make any difference. Putting the car key near the centre console key icon is basically for when the battery of the key is weak. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the car go into safe mode to test this out, but that's a good question.

      @DashcamsTasmania หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      as per the manual, if leaving the car for an extended time, leave it charged between 40% and 60% (page 93)
      When the vehicle is not to
      be operated for an extended
      period (over 7 days), it is
      recommended that the battery
      SOC should be kept at 40%-60%
      to prolong its service life. When
      the vehicle is not to be operated
      for over 3 months, the power
      battery must be fully charged
      and then discharged to 40%-60%
      every 3 months. Otherwise, over-
      discharge may result, leading to
      battery performance degradation
      or even damage. Any vehicle fault
      or damage so caused will not be
      covered by the quality warranty.
