I do IT work for a living, which some might consider "complex," but compared to what you guys are doing here, my job is like playing with Lincoln Logs. I love watching all install videos, even though I don’t have a 3V or a V8 for that matter. Great detail!! I can’t believe how much more goes into a twin screw install than a ProCharger. Wow.
Buying a very slightly used engine with this supercharger already installed, should be all easy as an engine swap. Little nervous about the rigging of the electronics and hoses but we’ll figure her out. Thank you.
This kit on the 2005-2009 Mustang GT's makes around the same power as a tuned N/A 2015-2017 Mustang GT. Ford continues to make huge progress on these engines. I can't wait to see what the 2018 Mustangs has to offer!
I still remember the time when you could buy a good supercharger kit for around 1,000 to 1,500. Direct Nitrous Oxide Kits for 400. Times have changed. But despite all excellent video and a very professional installation. ✌
I'm looking for an up to date version of install on a solid 07 gt premium (automatic) phaser locked with sct 4 tuner for for blocks and Melling M340HV to get the oil where it needs to be. Too long of a story, but not unheard of. Is there an issue with automatics getting powered up? and the btypical kown questions on plugs heater hose quick release they decided to install in a place where a quick release is pointless and whatever. Thanks . Watched this from end to end and makes me happy to see y'all sharing the knowledge and complete install. was not bored with unnecessary spinning of individual nuts and bolts that had no important details attached. Very well planned out and executed in edit. Much appreciated the time not being full of nonsense details. Thanks again.
I don't even own a S197 , I do own a DHG '01 Bullitt...and I still watched almost all the CJ's vids ...very well done and clean vids. Added bonus that your not always trying to sell house brand parts like the other Mustang channels .
YAYYY,,finally ... Amazing video. I have been wishing for one DETAILED such as this since this is my next mod. I would say though, the ONLY part that gives me the willies (and wish Roush would address) is the wiring. All this detail and they cant do connectors that go on the existing junctions to split out what you need? Seriously...but besides that..BILL...Thank you
Yea it can be a little intimidating buy it's not really that bad. Things just have to be moved since the throttle body does and the IAT has to be separated.
I could buy an 05-09 and this supercharger for probabbly a bit less than half the price of a same-generation gt500 and make near enough to the same power. SOLD!
I lack a good garage space or extensive tool box to work with. Are there mainstream shops that can install a kit like this for me, or do I need to find a friend instead?
I can tell you that I am having a whipplecharger installed on my 2010 Mustang GT and have been quoted by my local speed shop (JBA Speed Shop in San Diego) at about $3,000 for the install and $150-$750 for the dyno tune. Not sure if that's good or not, it's the first quote I've got.
I just bought a 2006 mustang gt Roush stage 2 and I cannot find a damn Roush Whipple or Super charger anywhere for my car. Is it obsolete now or something? I qrnt to the link and all they offer was edelbrock
I assume if you already have a tuner you can have someone like Lito make a tune prior to getting the supercharger i say this cause it seems like a hassel to send it to them when Lito can do it for a bit more and it's mobile
2.3l roush .. What hp will it make by going with a pulley down. If you know the dyno of each pulley down in diameter I'd appreciate it. Thanks By the way. I have a 900 hp rated racing engine. 5.0 stroker . All forged.
Roush makes a kit for the 2010 GT that uses 90-95% of the same parts. However, there are some that differences between the two kits that necessitated a separate kit for the 2010's. A few big items are: different heat exchanger, different coolant tank, different I/C pump mounting, and a different air intake/filter box. I know because I'm installing an 05-09 kit on my 2010 GT right now and am having to 'hot rod' a few things.
The irony. I think this IS a 2010 GT they're putting this kit on. 2006, 7 and 8 I know have the air intake coming off the passenger side. This is the driver's side, so I'm guessing it's 2010 or the 09's run that way too.
I have 2010 GT Premium and mulling the idea of a supercharger, a mechanic gave me the heads up that increased air induction on such an older model could be issue? Any truth to that?
does that fit under the stock hood though? or do I need a cowl hood? I have my eye on a particular aftermarket hood so if this kit fits under the stock one, it will fit under the one I'm looking at
Why is this Roush kit so low on power compared to Department of boost kit with stock gt500 blower? Is it just conservative tune or the complete kit is less potent?
That's just the conservative tune from Roush. Can easily make more power with a custom tune. It's a bigger blower than the M122. Also have to think about pulley sizes. I believe the IC on the DOB kit is a little better though.
Nice kit! Great video! Nice to see some 3 valve love...LOL (Coyote stole the show). Not for the novice and I think a weekend would be better to schedule for this install rather than 10 hours or so. Too bad you couldn't do some "boosted pulls" so we could hear "the sound"... :-(
You’d probably make at least 40+ more horsepower than just the supercharger alone. But beware, the 3v motors are known for failing above 450 rear wheel torque.
Bought my 05 ragtop in 2013 with 99K. New top needed. Changed the alternator once. Just changed the spark plugs last month. That is it except for routine maintenance. Do oil changes every 3K without fail. Driven cross country about a half dozen times. Best MPG was 32 in Wyoming at 68 MPH. I know I am 5 months late, but if you are still looking, that is my take. BTW, just turned 178K miles. Still hauls.
I’m not an expert but the supercharger would probably work with any type of cam, just make sure you have the car properly tuned so the car runs good and gets the maximum amount of power. Also I hope you have forged internals, stage 3 probably pushes too much boost for the stock bottom end to handle

With the amount of time and money for this supercharger you could either 1. coyote swap this or 2. purchase an 11-14 car. I just don't see the money in doing this with a 3v when you could get roughly the same power out of a bolt on and tuned coyote. Not hating but just my opinion
Coyote swapping is more money lmao unless you get a beat up one you can’t just simply install the engine and boom it’s done there’s far more work to be done
