We played the Star Wars version for the first time last night and have a couple questions: 1.) if you run out of ambitions in the center, do you not replenish the pot? 2.) to pay ambitions to win or remove a restriction, must you be on an ambition spot? (for example, Vaders payment for victory can that be done in the same move as playing Palpatine?/Kylos restriction removal) 3.) In Kylo’s restriction fate, Heart and Strength, can you pay 4 ambitions INSTEAD of defeating Rey? Or must you defeat Rey AND pay 4 ambitions? Thank you so much for your help!!

I really love how the Vehicle Cards work for this game by using a fate action to cover the vehicle up for actions and using a vanquish to lose both vehicles, The Ambition action is very interesting because you can only get 1 at a time but you can get more Ambition with cards, and you get a disadvantage with vehicles that are not engaged doesn’t let you draw back up to 4 cards. I’m excited for my copy to come! Restrictions are pretty cool as well.

17:16 In the old Villainous you didn't need to have an Ally to Vanquish Hero with 0 STR. Is this an update to Star Wars version? "If a Hero's Strength is reduced to 0 by other card Abilities you must still use a Vanquish action or card Ability to defeat the Hero. However, if you use a Vanquish action, no Allies need to be discarded. You can defeat a Hero with 0 Strength even if you have no Allies at the Hero's Location."
It starts in Marvel Villainous. There is NO 'you can defeat a 0 strength hero even if you have no ally at that location' rule in that BG... unless it's hidden in plain sight and I haven't notice it 😁

I got a little excited. I was going to instantly find a copy, if available in Australia, and get it for a friend who is into Star Wars. I realise that a lot of the rules might go over their heads as they have never played the original Villainous so might take a while for them to get. Great video though. Good to see slight differences between this and the original.
Fantastic video, as always. This is an attractive game, but it does seem weighed down by a ton of exceptions ("In X situation, do Y; unless Z is in effect, in which case..."). Your video made everything crystal clear. By far the best instructional video available.

Small question about vehicle movements: Can I swap vehicle engagements? Meaning, can I: A) Move an engaged friendly vehicle to another enemy vehicle B) Switch a friendly vehicle in for another currently engaged friendly vehicle C) Switch an engaged vehicle with another engaged vehicle?

The game does come with 5 playable Villains, as well as the expansion. 2. In regards to General Grevious' deck, he has the Magna Guards which states "Heroes cannot be moved or Maneuvered from Magna Guard's location." To me this seems like any of your opponents should be able to use a Maneuver action to move a Hero card on an opponents sector instead of an Ally on their own, but I haven't been able to find any clarification on this. What are different ways to move a Hero on a sector? Thank you! And once again the video is amazing, and very helpful!
1. This is a tricky one to answer. It's not exactly a rules question, but more of a design one - so I'm mostly just guessing here. Sometimes a publisher will limit the number of players as a caution to the players. For example, you maybe COULD play with five, but they don't believe it will be an optimal play experience (too much to track, take to long, or some other reason), and if you don't have a good experience, that might reflect poorly on the game in a way they don't intend. It can also be a matter of components. There might be 5 characters, but not enough tokens, etc. 2. I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. For the villains who need to defeat heroes to win, why wouldn’t the opponent just not ever activate a fate action. Can’t defeat heroes if they’re never played, right? What am I missing here?
Hey, I shot this long enough ago I don't recall all the villains and how their specific effects work (and what you might be able to do to force someone into helping you toward your objective), so this is a tougher one to answer.
I have a question about the vehicles. You mentioned that you can play multiple vehicles can be played to Deep Space, but are you able to move from one vehicle to the other whenever you like? What about on consecutive turns?
It seems to be basically just treated as if it was an extra space on the board, you can only move to a new ship at the start of a new turn, but as clearly stated, the only cards that can be played to a ship is an opposing ship to engage it.

Not as far as I'm aware. Item cards are played with the Play A Card action. Was there a reason you were asking about this card specifically? I'll admit there are so many different cards in these games, it IS possible for a card to behave differently than what's normal, but what is normal is you play an Item with the Play A Card action.

Good morning. I have a question. If I have two vehicles in deep space can I move from one two another or are both deep space and I have to move to another sector first. Thank you.
I don't know if you can answer this, but I had a few questions about hand size: 1. If "Under Repair" from 7:30 is active on the player's side, can non-engaged hero vehicles still cause that player to have a hand size less than 2 cards (meaning that Under Repair lowers it to 2, and another non-engaged hero vehicle can have it go down to 1), and can "Under Repair" and 2 non-engaged hero vehicles cause that player to have a hand size of 0 cards, meaning that couldn't draw any cards at all under one of the those things are gone? 2. If a player has 4 non-engaged hero vehicles in deep space, can that cause their hand size to be 0 cards, since you didn't explain if the rulebook said anything about handsize not going lower than 1, or if it can be 0 or a negative number? I wanted to ask that since I can't tell if any villain's fate deck has 4 or more hero vehicles in it and/or some combination of cards that could make someone's hand size be 0 cards, and that I know someone wouldn't want to deal with not being able to draw any cards at the end of the turn, especially when they don't have any cards at all to deal with hero vehicles at the moment, and if they made sure to balance out each villain's fate deck to not have some combination of cards where if they get into play can lockdown someone from being able to draw any cards at all (4 hero vehicles in a villain's fate deck, etc.).
1) Under Repair isn't reducing the hand size, just the max total number of cards that can be drawn at the end of the turn. So if they would normally able to draw 3 cards, and most they would draw 2. 2) You won't find that many hero vehicles in the event deck.
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks for clearing those rules up. At least now I don't have to worry about 4 hero vehicles in any villain's fate deck now being all out at the same time.
So we had a game with grievous vs. Darth Vader. Grievous had his vehicle out that let's him defeat a hero when he moves to it (the ability). Would he be able to use that card to defeat a hero on Vader's sector and claim a lightsaber from it. Similarly, if Luke was conflicted and any hero is defeated, even on another board, does he move towards the throne room?
I don't know what the exact text is on the vehicle you are referring to, but effects on a card in your sector would normally target cards in your own sector (not on another players board).
We have a question about the mission cards in Asajj Ventress' deck. For example, if I have the Clone DNA mission card and I have a Villain Vehicle in play and I completed "defeat Anakin Skywalker", am I able to complete "defeat Anakin Skywalker" a second time to gain an additional ambition and finish the card? If not, how do I keep track that I defeated Anakin and not Obi Wan as the game progresses and I forget which one of them I've completed? Thank you. We loved the game and your tutorial really helped us out.

I have several questions about the Kit Fisto Hero Card. The card states “When Kit Fisto is played, you may move ALL Heroes to ANY locations. When Kit Fisto is defeated, General Grievous collects one additional Lightsaber token.” The way this card is worded caused a bit of consternation in our first game, so we wanted to see if anyone can clarify: 1. Does this mean that when Kit Fisto is played, that player can move Heroes out of General Grievous’ sector AND any other players sector and into any other player’s sector? Or does this card just apply to the heroes in General Grievous’ sector? 2. Does this rule applying to moving heroes INCLUDING Kit Fisto, or does he need to be played into General Grievous’ sector? 3. Does this mean that, regardless of which sector Kit Fisto ends up in, and whoever defeats Kit Fisto, no matter what, General Grievous collects one additional Lightsaber token? (This question also applies to Ashoka Tano in regard to the extra lightsaber) Please help! My son loves playing General Grievous, but we are struggling with this one question!

Grievous has a fate-countering condition that forces fater to "play a hero from fate discard pile"... does that mean they get to just peruse the whe pile and play whatever hero the fater wants?

If the card "May the force be with you" (All allies in Moff Gideon's sector gets -1 Strength) from Moff Gideon's fate deck is played, and "Doctor Pershing" (Who is a 0 strength ally) is in play, would that make it so Doctor Pershing is discarded? Or would that affect card have no effect on Doctor Pershing?

Could you clarify the Vader restriction card that requires Vader to discard his entire hand to remove it? Can you play a card and then discard “your entire hand” of three cards or does it have to be a full hand or 4 cards (or three if vehicle etc.)

So do you HAVE to resolve the written action on the spaceship cards before doing the symbols, or is that optional? Cos I can see parts of Darth Vader's game (for example) where landing on the Executor and having to reveal fate cards to find a hero could be a hinderance, not a help. Thanks!

Let’s say I put a vehicle in an opponents deep space on my first turn. Then, they do not choose to play a a card on their turn. Their hand is at still at 4 when they end their turn. However, the hand size technically is still “limited” to 3. Does that mean they have to discard?

Do we know if this can be combined with the original villainous? I passed on marvel because i didn’t like the central fate pile, and that it wasn’t compatible with the original.
Seems like it could be, as everything is self contained again, but these sets might not be balanced with the Disney villainous sets, might only be balanced between Star Wars
@@Gregtech123 so there’s hope, but depending on balance it could be to slow or fast to combine with the original? I’ll wait and see what others think then. I really like the original. I don’t really have an interest in a slight variation though.
@@Stoicgame with the vehicles, it might make these new characters more overpowered compared to the Disney villainous characters. Also here there's ambition and credits. In Disney villainous they only had power tokens, so that could also lead to balancing issues
These are not balanced to be played alongside Disney Villainous. It is it’s own separate game. However nothing stopping you from house rules being made

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but let me put this another way and see if it helps: when resolving action symbols on a space you moved your villain to, you don't have to resolve any symbol there you don't want to. So if there is a Fate symbol (or any symbol) there, you don't "have" to resolve it if you don't want to.

Small question about vehicle movements: Can I swap vehicle engagements? Meaning, can I:
A) Move an engaged friendly vehicle to another enemy vehicle
B) Switch a friendly vehicle in for another currently engaged friendly vehicle
C) Switch an engaged vehicle with another engaged vehicle?
You can only engage, or disengage with the maneuver action when targeting one of your vehicles for the maneuver.

1. Is there any reason it is only up to 4 players? Can more people play if we wanted? The game does come with 5 playable Villains, as well as the expansion.
2. In regards to General Grevious' deck, he has the Magna Guards which states "Heroes cannot be moved or Maneuvered from Magna Guard's location." To me this seems like any of your opponents should be able to use a Maneuver action to move a Hero card on an opponents sector instead of an Ally on their own, but I haven't been able to find any clarification on this. What are different ways to move a Hero on a sector?

1. This is a tricky one to answer. It's not exactly a rules question, but more of a design one - so I'm mostly just guessing here. Sometimes a publisher will limit the number of players as a caution to the players. For example, you maybe COULD play with five, but they don't believe it will be an optimal play experience (too much to track, take to long, or some other reason), and if you don't have a good experience, that might reflect poorly on the game in a way they don't intend. It can also be a matter of components. There might be 5 characters, but not enough tokens, etc.
2. I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. For the villains who need to defeat heroes to win, why wouldn’t the opponent just not ever activate a fate action. Can’t defeat heroes if they’re never played, right? What am I missing here?
Hey, I shot this long enough ago I don't recall all the villains and how their specific effects work (and what you might be able to do to force someone into helping you toward your objective), so this is a tougher one to answer.

I have a question about the vehicles. You mentioned that you can play multiple vehicles can be played to Deep Space, but are you able to move from one vehicle to the other whenever you like? What about on consecutive turns?
I assume it’s a location so you move to it at the start of your turn and move to a different vehicle/location at the start of your next turn
It seems to be basically just treated as if it was an extra space on the board, you can only move to a new ship at the start of a new turn, but as clearly stated, the only cards that can be played to a ship is an opposing ship to engage it.
Yes, you treat each vehicle like a new space, which means you can move to a different ship on your next turn.

I know they are standard magic The Gathering sized cards, but I don't know the card count unfortunately. Lately I've been trying Gamegenic sleeves and finding them quite good.

10:13 - Am I right in thinking that this item card can't be played during a "Play A Card" action, but only during the 'Ambition' action?
Not as far as I'm aware. Item cards are played with the Play A Card action. Was there a reason you were asking about this card specifically? I'll admit there are so many different cards in these games, it IS possible for a card to behave differently than what's normal, but what is normal is you play an Item with the Play A Card action.

I don't know if you can answer this, but I had a few questions about hand size:
1. If "Under Repair" from 7:30 is active on the player's side, can non-engaged hero vehicles still cause that player to have a hand size less than 2 cards (meaning that Under Repair lowers it to 2, and another non-engaged hero vehicle can have it go down to 1), and can "Under Repair" and 2 non-engaged hero vehicles cause that player to have a hand size of 0 cards, meaning that couldn't draw any cards at all under one of the those things are gone?
2. If a player has 4 non-engaged hero vehicles in deep space, can that cause their hand size to be 0 cards, since you didn't explain if the rulebook said anything about handsize not going lower than 1, or if it can be 0 or a negative number?
I wanted to ask that since I can't tell if any villain's fate deck has 4 or more hero vehicles in it and/or some combination of cards that could make someone's hand size be 0 cards, and that I know someone wouldn't want to deal with not being able to draw any cards at the end of the turn, especially when they don't have any cards at all to deal with hero vehicles at the moment, and if they made sure to balance out each villain's fate deck to not have some combination of cards where if they get into play can lockdown someone from being able to draw any cards at all (4 hero vehicles in a villain's fate deck, etc.).
1) Under Repair isn't reducing the hand size, just the max total number of cards that can be drawn at the end of the turn. So if they would normally able to draw 3 cards, and most they would draw 2.
2) You won't find that many hero vehicles in the event deck.
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks for clearing those rules up. At least now I don't have to worry about 4 hero vehicles in any villain's fate deck now being all out at the same time.
So we had a game with grievous vs. Darth Vader.
Grievous had his vehicle out that let's him defeat a hero when he moves to it (the ability). Would he be able to use that card to defeat a hero on Vader's sector and claim a lightsaber from it.
Similarly, if Luke was conflicted and any hero is defeated, even on another board, does he move towards the throne room?
I don't know what the exact text is on the vehicle you are referring to, but effects on a card in your sector would normally target cards in your own sector (not on another players board).
We have a question about the mission cards in Asajj Ventress' deck. For example, if I have the Clone DNA mission card and I have a Villain Vehicle in play and I completed "defeat Anakin Skywalker", am I able to complete "defeat Anakin Skywalker" a second time to gain an additional ambition and finish the card? If not, how do I keep track that I defeated Anakin and not Obi Wan as the game progresses and I forget which one of them I've completed? Thank you. We loved the game and your tutorial really helped us out.

I have several questions about the Kit Fisto Hero Card. The card states “When Kit Fisto is played, you may move ALL Heroes to ANY locations. When Kit Fisto is defeated, General Grievous collects one additional Lightsaber token.”
The way this card is worded caused a bit of consternation in our first game, so we wanted to see if anyone can clarify:
1. Does this mean that when Kit Fisto is played, that player can move Heroes out of General Grievous’ sector AND any other players sector and into any other player’s sector? Or does this card just apply to the heroes in General Grievous’ sector?
2. Does this rule applying to moving heroes INCLUDING Kit Fisto, or does he need to be played into General Grievous’ sector?
3. Does this mean that, regardless of which sector Kit Fisto ends up in, and whoever defeats Kit Fisto, no matter what, General Grievous collects one additional Lightsaber token? (This question also applies to Ashoka Tano in regard to the extra lightsaber)

Grievous has a fate-countering condition that forces fater to "play a hero from fate discard pile"... does that mean they get to just peruse the whe pile and play whatever hero the fater wants?

If the card "May the force be with you" (All allies in Moff Gideon's sector gets -1 Strength) from Moff Gideon's fate deck is played, and "Doctor Pershing" (Who is a 0 strength ally) is in play, would that make it so Doctor Pershing is discarded? Or would that affect card have no effect on Doctor Pershing?

Could you clarify the Vader restriction card that requires Vader to discard his entire hand to remove it? Can you play a card and then discard “your entire hand” of three cards or does it have to be a full hand or 4 cards (or three if vehicle etc.)

how do you maneuver a hero in your opposition's section? can you vanish in your opposition's section?
If a card effect allows you to, it will say so, but it is not a default action you can take otherwise.
Are you able to mix this set with the other Villianous sets?
You aren't because of the different rules between the sets.
So do you HAVE to resolve the written action on the spaceship cards before doing the symbols, or is that optional? Cos I can see parts of Darth Vader's game (for example) where landing on the Executor and having to reveal fate cards to find a hero could be a hinderance, not a help. Thanks!

Let’s say I put a vehicle in an opponents deep space on my first turn. Then, they do not choose to play a a card on their turn. Their hand is at still at 4 when they end their turn. However, the hand size technically is still “limited” to 3. Does that mean they have to discard?

Do we know if this can be combined with the original villainous? I passed on marvel because i didn’t like the central fate pile, and that it wasn’t compatible with the original.
Seems like it could be, as everything is self contained again, but these sets might not be balanced with the Disney villainous sets, might only be balanced between Star Wars

@@Stoicgame with the vehicles, it might make these new characters more overpowered compared to the Disney villainous characters. Also here there's ambition and credits. In Disney villainous they only had power tokens, so that could also lead to balancing issues
These are not balanced to be played alongside Disney Villainous. It is it’s own separate game. However nothing stopping you from house rules being made

It's for 2-4 players, not sure what would happen if you tried to play with 5.
So the game relies on your opponent to use fate actions for you play the game, and you don't have to take fate actions?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but let me put this another way and see if it helps: when resolving action symbols on a space you moved your villain to, you don't have to resolve any symbol there you don't want to. So if there is a Fate symbol (or any symbol) there, you don't "have" to resolve it if you don't want to.
I'm curious - do you have to get permission from the publishers to review and make "how to play" videos?
I don't do any reviews, but I do work the publisher to make the tutorial videos.
