Frank was a SGT in WWII. Awarded the bronze star and purple heart. That's how he was able to portray a drill sergeant convincingly! He was perfect doing it.
@@DV-zv4ox Not too clear about when this aired since I found this searching for the Jim Nabors Hour on here but I'm guessing sometime in the first season (1969-1970).
About 1:42, is this the first time? Every week, Ronnie Schell did the same thing, on this program, the audience enjoyed it a lot when he was “so drunk” he was sliding down the stairs - not walking them, doesn’t anyone, besides me, remember that? 😮
Of all the southern actors on the Andy Griffith show and Gomer Pyle USMC Frank Sutton is the only one of the southern actors who did not have a southern accent, he sounds more like he grew up in Brooklyn NYC.
probably due to the fact that he moved to New York City as a teenager to attend college at Columbia University. He probably acquired his New York-like accent there
What a living doll Mr Sutton was. OMG!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much for uploading this!!! 😂 Rest in peace to Jim & Frank 💔🕊
Frank Sutton was the one reason we watched Gomer Pyle. My dad was a Sgt in the Marine Corps in WWII. He was great!
Frank Sutton left us too soon .

I see Ronnie Schell every Friday morning so I’ll ask him next week and figure out the date for ya! Thanks for posting this!! Hope I can find more!
Frank was so great!!
These sketches were my favorite part of the show.
Sometimes I wonder why Mr Sutton didn't have posters made. He was seriously CUTE.
I wonder why Barbara Stuart aka Miss Bunny didn't appear on this show? Or Elizabeth McRae aka Lou Ann Poovy?
Ms. Bunny or Louann should have[at least guest appearances]✔️
Gomer Pyle USMC civil version
That's Karen Morrow who played Frank Sutton's character's wife and Jim Nabors' character's sister.
Thank you! Do you happen to know the date it was aired, too?

I couldn't finish watching this ... Bad skit
@@Dwayne-u7b No one forced you to watch or comment. That sounds like a "you" problem!
