My UTX85 is so much smoother, snappier and has almost NO blade play/wiggle when it locks up compared to my older Ultratech.. honestly just feels like an all around better made knife than the ultratech and has quickly become my favorite EDC and gets lots of utility use without any issues so far at all! I prefer the single edge blades these days now that I've tried one and all of my previous microtechs have been dagger double edge grinds. Selling my extra utx85 olive handle d/e dagger blade like new in box actually if anyone wants it.. got it as part of a big trade and will sell or trade for any reasonable offer!
I’d be happy to purchase it and pay for shipping. Do you still have it? If you have an online market or shop if you can send a link I can place an order for it.
Perfect EDC knife for Texas viewers now that these are finally legally to carry!! Unclear if there is any issue with double edge/dagger blades so far but I know 100% these are now legal for anyone to carry in Texas!
BladeHQ is running an exclusive right now on the 70, 85 and Ultra in natural G-10 on black. Badass color combo. Picked one up today in the 85. It'll be my first OTF. I'm stoked.
liked and subscribed! in my state i think the double edge might be a problem, and the double edge is most likely only found (with some exceptions) on otf knives. the 70 and 80 series are light enough and sleek enough for edc. the full size ultratec might be too big for comfortable edc-at least for me.
Trades like this happen all the time in the balisong community on IG. Also the whole it's a butterfly knife so its dangerous has always kinda bothered me. Theres also the whole "balisongs are illegal" stereotype. I understand that in some places they are illegal but in my state it's not directly prohibited in any knife laws yet I'll get comments from people telling me that its illegal even when I'm on my own property and it really grinds my gears when someone goes out of their way to stop what they're doing to tell me on my own property that that knife is illegal (especially since its not) anyway I just picked up a UTX so let's see how quickly people get triggered in my neighborhood over that hahaha
No offense, but who in the FUCK comes to your property just to tell you that your knife is illegal? Are you waving it around screaming? How do they know you even have it? 🤔
@@CarlAquaForce I'm not waving it around screaming for one. I do flip outside on my property but heres the thing. Butterfly knifes arent actually illegal where I live. So I'm perfectly allowed to have it and to flip it on my lawn. But every once and a while someone driving by will feel the need to stop and come onto my property to tell me its illegal.... when it isnt.
Same here, dude I'm in the mountains of Western NC, long story short I was at this casino here in Cherokee & I pulled out my bailout to cut a piece of carpet & someone walking past said something about the knife being to large. I stood up & said no, it's not. I guess you know, knowing about anything, haha.
Not saying it's possible to do the Hollywood balogna but testing it on paper is not adequate. The paper moves and dissipates the energy, a body will not.
These are great Everyday carry knives I've started carrying my single edge everyday and actually trying to get rid of my double-edge version if your interested
@@trillestdccxiii4971 Actually I already bought one exactly like the one in your video! From a distance it looks almost like a German Black Cat. Of course they are very different knives and in no way directly comparable. I think this Microtech is the best finished knife I have. The other automatic I have is a Benchmade AFO II, with the uncoated tanto blade, not an EDC for me. The UTX85 is very handy to carry.
Great edc knife if one doesn’t mind actually using it. Needier than most due to maintenance and regular cleaning prior to retracting. Still a huge bonus in an emergency or forced one handed operating.
How a blade deploys makes no difference. Flippers can deploy almost as fast as an OTF auto. People are scared of almost everything these days, so it's not a surprise that they freak when a blade pops out the front.
Thank you for responding, and I have one more question for you. Could you carry a fixed blade too that is shorter than four inches and it still be deemed a pocket knife as well?

And they’ve been legal since 2013! I worked in the state legislature and helped get that law passed. A big win for knife fans!
No knife is more dangerous than the other. It is all in the hands of the practitioner of what makes the difference
@2be Blunt That is classified as a weapon, not a common pocket knife according to ATF
Tell that to the law makers

0:48 very good question, but I have to agree one might do a little more damage than the other😂
Now legal in PA.
11:23 "there's no spring or anything" that axis lock has an omega spring, and they break probably more often than any microtech.
Great review. I agree with the other poster, much better than the bigger channels.
Thanks for watching! I have alot more videos on the way. I just need to find time to complete them.
Thankfully now in 2023, Doug Ritter and KnifeRights has won and made these legal - so happy about that!!!

Can you smuggle one into Australia for me? 😂👍🏻
Montana basically got rid of the stupid knife laws in the early 2018 or 2019 I think.

Can you imagine having Chris Reeves as a mentor? It doesn't get much better than that.
I agree! Ill be reviewing the Spartan Harsey Folder in a week or two. Chris Reeve was also a main mentor to them, along with legendary Bill Harsey.
Sheesh. You can hold a fixed blade knife against someone and all you need to do is push it forward to cause a lot of damage.
Woaw, what it the ridiculously big knife you showed at the beginning?
I just got one and I love it! Black apocalyptic double edge.

These are legal to own in Rhode Island. And would be legal to carry if it was under 3 inches👍
A weapon laws are born out of fear and misunderstanding that they are tools, nothing more.

I just got this variant.
It won't go through, but it will go in about an inch...
What was the reverse tanto you flipped out along with the blur?
No one knows??
Your good to go in Iowa and Nebraska sir..
Thanks for letting us know!
Buying one. Great video
There are tons of options in size, blades and colors! Let me know what you get bud.
What model is the benchmade in the video?
Presidio II. Aluminum/steel not the new carbon fiber.

I don't give a fuck what you think. I don't care if you think it's scary. I think it's bad ass and has purpose.
Is the screw on the knife the same size as the Ultratech?
I think so. That is a great question!!!
Yes
I feel like I must own one!

Only the pocket clip and glass breaker are visable.
You had no problems with law enforcement or have they ever stopped you since carrying it?

Haha well it takes a little pressure. Maybe my hands are just strong? J/k
Use the joint of your thumb to open it and not the tip and turn your thumb sideways on the trigger to close is.
Considering that i carry a cold steel 6" counter point that knife looks like a toothpick 🤣
