I had the exact same problem with my ultratech. Through normal use, it stopped firing in and out after almost ONE WEEK. So I opened it up to find out what was wrong to see if I could fix it or just had to clean it out, but I found that one of the hooks that was attached to the spring was broken! Upon further examination, I think that the hooks that hook on to the spring, which attach to the slider have a huge design flaw. The L shaped end of each of the hooks seems very prone to bending, which will lead to the mechanism failing.

I bought a UTX-85 black with satin tanto blade for Christmas. I EDC it , I keep mine clean, and do the Clean and lube every few weeks. for a good cheap auto a Boker Kalashnikov at $40 is handy (and they make a left handed version)

Nobody cares, but a Northern Flicker is calling at 12 minutes. Good point about keeping OTFs clean for EDC. Seems getting the bit driver may be a good idea for cleaning so long as it doesnt void the warranty. Microtec owes me two knives so one of them may be an otf for me.
I’m a Microtech junky and a first responder and it fits the role for many of my needs. I only wish the custom knives and signature series of knives were a little less expensive my UTX 85 signature with Damascus and copper hardware is selling for $200 more than it did when I purchased it two years ago.

I really like the drop points or the bayonet blades on the Ultratech. I have a drop point and I love it !! I want to get another one but I don’t think I could bring myself to spend another 320$.

Found a crazy deal on a serrated camo tanto ultratech on letgo for 145 and the guy knocked $10 off if i picked it up at his place. GREAT price but couldnt get over how stiff the button was to actuate the blade. Im currently carrying a benchmade infidel that is a little easier but that gimping on the button is ment for gloved hands so bare skin is a little rough.

I liked the heads up about possible buildup on the inside and having to wait 2 weeks to get it back. Any videos you can recommend running the UTX through “real world” rigors? Thanks!

You really should try to handle a UTX70 before buying it. They're surprisingly small, and might feel useless in larger hands. Not knocking the quality, but the size is almost novelty-like. YMMV.
