PERSEPOLIS - The Wonder of Ancient Persia

  • In the 13th episode of Paths Less Traveled - Iran, I’m visiting a bucket list destination and top sight in Iran - Persepolis (تخت جمشید). The ancient city was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire dating back to 518 BC, and a symbol of power at the peak of the Persian empire.
    I’ll discover some of the incredible history, before heading north to the necropolis - Naqsh-e Rostam (نقش رستم), where the grand tombs of the Achaemenid Kings are built into the cliff face.
    Stopping for lunch there’ll be and insanely big Iranian feast of stuffed chicken - Morgh Shekam Por, along with an indecent amount of sides (Alook, Dopiaze, Dampokht, Doogh and Dates Halva - and that’s just the ones I included on this video!). The hospitality was incredible, the food was delicious and it never stopped coming!
    With a full stomach, we’ll visit the Tomb of Cyrus the Great (آرامگاه کوروش بزرگ) - The first of the Achaemenid Kings, and that’ll be the end of the day as I won’t bore you with the long long journey onwards to Isfahan.
    Less sights overall in this video, but Persepolis is certainly a heavy hitter and deserves the time.
    Come with me for an adventure of history and food!

    PATHS LESS TRAVELED
    In the late summer of 2022 I embarked on an epic road trip around Iran, during a time of unrest as protests escalated across the country.
    Covering around 6200km over 24 days, I was able to see this incredible country in a way that many are not fortunate enough to see, and to record my experiences in a way that has not been done before.
    Safety concerns meant that I had to limit my filming on occasion, and stay well away from any signs of the troubles going on.
    However, what I did see was an incredible insight. Some of the most wonderful and welcoming people, incredible history and culture, and mind blowing food.
    Paths Less Traveled - Iran is my story of my experiences, put in an in-depth series of Iran travel vlogs.

    One of my favourite Vlogs by Chris; very informative, and easy to digest by viewers. Ps, I cannot believe Chris just had a spoonful of pickles on its own! Clue: a small amount pickles mixed with "Dampohkt", the dry rice dish, would go down a treat.

    Another epic stop Chris. Persepolis is on my Bucket list and tentatively scheduled for 2026 on our RTW drive. I hope we are as good as you are by then. This place looks amazing.
    I hope you like our geeky new channel name. We are rebranding to fit better with our mission to promote environmental and cultural preservation on our upcoming carbon-neutral UNESCO world tour. Cheers and keep up the fun. - Turtle

    Great video Chris. Out of curiosity, excepting the protest that was ongoing at time of your travel which is a bit scary, were locals friendly and kind towards you ?

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  ปีที่แล้ว

      People were extremely kind, friendly and hospitable. Of course I was cautious of where I what I filmed - keeping the camera well away from the obvious things to avoid and also ensuring not to put local people in danger for being in video in the wrong way. I kept myself informed as best as I could about what was going on where and avoided the protests completely. To get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time by the police could easily mean prison or worse.

      Are you fine or you are high school on drugs which your nonsense just shows your stupidity which Psrsepolis has been there for long time which will be there which even IRI has preserved it which only person who tried it has been Alexander.

    • @kr22100
      @kr22100 ปีที่แล้ว

      If these "ancient wonders" were to be "destructed and replaced with shrines", after nearly half a century of the IRI governance they would have long disappeared by now. Although the Iranian government is not whiter than white they deserve credit where credit is due. Over the years they've worked very hard to preserve these sites and improve visitors' experiences. They don't always get everything right but they're not all a bunch of looneys either. The problem with sites like this, Veil Nebula, is that if you post garbage you get found out straightaway. Have a good day.

    Again falsifying history and false history (Alexander syndrome)
    Iskandar the Macedonian (falsely called Alexander the Great)
    There was a general from the Medes who was the satrap of the small region of Macedonia.
    And with a coup d'état and with minimal conflict, they returned the government of Pars to the Medes.
    Iskandar and the rest of his relatives had a religious tendency called Ahl al-Sir wa Suluk (similar to what was later called Ahl Sufism in Islamic periods), which replaced Zoroastrianism at that time, and they became known as Ahl al-Sir wa Suluk and formed the government of the Seleucids. . For this reason, none of the Seleucid kings had a crown and wore a cloth similar to a turban. And you don't see a crown on any coin of the Seleucid period.
    Basically, the transfer of the Achaemenid government to the Seleucids was a religious transfer from Zoroastrianism to the Seleucid religion, and later from the Seleucids to the Parthians, the transfer of the previous religion to Mehrism and Mithraism, that is why most of the Parthian kings were named Mehrdad.
    There is a lot of talk and it does not fit in this text.
    دوباره جعل تاریخ و تاریخ دروغ (سندروم اسکندر)
    اسکندر مقدونی (به دروغ میگن اسکندر مقدونی)
    یک سردار از نژاد ماد بود که ساتراپ منطقه کوچک مقدونیه بود.
    و با کودتا و با کمترین درگیری حکومت پارس رو دوباره به ماد ها برگردوند .
    اسکندر و بقیه نزدیکان به گرایشی دینی بنام اهل سیر و سلوک داشتند ( شبیه چیزی که بعدها در دوره های اسلامی بهش اهل تصوف گفتن) که آن زمان جای دین زرتشتی رو داشت میگرفت و به اهل سیر و سلوک معروف شدند و حکومت سلوکیان رو تشکیل دادن. بخاطر همین هیچ کدوم از پادشاهان سلوکیان تاج نداشتن و پارچه ای به سر میبستن شبیه عمامه . و روی هیچ سکه دوره سلوکیان شما تاج نمیبینی.
    اصولا جابجایی حکومت هخامنشیان به سلوکیان جابجایی دینی بوده از زرتشتی به دین سلوکی و بعد ها از سلوکیان به اشکانیان جابجایی دین قبلی به مهرپرستی و میتراییسم بخاطر همین اکثر پادشاهان اشکانی با اسم مهرداد بودند.
    صحبت بسیار هستش و در این متن نمیگنجد.
