I wish there will be more journalists as caring as you, Mr. Steves. Good journalists should always promote understanding and love among human beings, leading us to a better future by their work.
Steve, you said very meaningful things at the end of this video. I agree with you 110%.. We need to understand each other so that we don't feel afraid of or have prejudice against each other.
I AM A GREEK...but Iranian(we still call them Persians and Persia!!! ...after 2500 years) nation has history, culture, civilization, spirituality! WE the GREEKS respect them honor them and appreciate their contribution to history as we do for their STRENGHT to protect their way of life closer to human measurement! For us the GREEKS has come the time to "take our place only in history books as a nation we are dying"...We wish them to keep what they are doing because it seams they did it better than US...We wish them all the best in this hard path they follow...!
As an Iranian Turk I would say we (And especially I) do deeply appreciate Greek culture and history as one of the oldest and most advanced culture of its time and the root of most of modern-day culture!
To my Greek friend, may your beautiful country be blessed with prosperity . As an Iranian I value the joys, sorrows and glories we have shared throughout our common histories .Every culture , race and creed is a blessing to human family . Wish your nation a long and abundant life . With love and respect from Iran.
Theodorus Upon a difficult path many may think they are dying. No one escapes as death eventually takes all. But there may be no reason to die before your rightfull time. But as you age it can not be 100% right to cast all in to the gloom of depressive morbitity. Especially all the young Greeks. All surviving nations eventually are taken over by their youth who rise up as mature people and become the majority. So it maybe you imagine you and your nation are dying. But it may be just you or what you are doing. As we get older we need to look after ourselves more and more whilst much of the events and ideas of our own youth become historical. It may seem like dying or becoming part of the past. But the past is the past and today we may need to live knowing much has already past but still the end of the path may be put futher away if we choose to continue.
I just came back from Iran and Western medias totally painted a wrong impression about the country. I've never met so kind, friendly and approachable people outside Asia (the eastern part of Asia).
Swear Rick, I am so thrilled, moved and touched by your amazing sensibility and the grace with which you educate us.We are lucky to have you.I am a European so I have seen many of the places that you describe so beautifully.Happy and especially safe travels.Yours, E
I enjoyed this very much Rick. So much beauty in Architecture and people. We are all people living out our lives as best as can. There is so much we can learn from each other if we all simply listen to each other.
Mr Steve you are a well educated and open minded man, well done! I agree iranian people are the nicest people you will ever meet, I wish in the west people learned a bit about other cultures and how to be kind and friendly to one another
Mr Steves, I've read a lot of the comments to this video and haven't found any hate comments or trolling. I think it's your open-minded and positive attitude that has inspired such good reception.
I've wanted to go there since 1990. I had two bosses, one from Tehran and other from Isfahan, and drooled over the photos of history they always brought back. Maybe one day.
In Shiraz we have other historical places that I don't see on your video,The ancient Gardens of Shiraz like Eram Garden,Delgosha Garden, and afifabad Garden, and also other historical places such as a Vakil Bazaar ,Vakil Bath furthermore Saray e Moshir, Narenjestan Ghavam Museum;moreover Pars musuem. Anyway Thanks for introducing Iran to other people in the other countries who like to visit Iran but they have a bit fear of being here. Thanks a lot,Good luck.
Thank you for posting this! My grandparents visited Persepolis like you did, and I am hoping to go in the next few years. By the way, what I am doing for my Art History senior capstone is investigating antiquities that are from the Achaemenid Empire (including those stolen from Persepolis), and investigating their provenance. One instance of looting is one too many, and sadly many countries, including the U.S., where I am from, have many Museums that have partaken in this. Many of them have especially stolen antiquities from Iran.
I totally want to go to Iran one day!! Iran is beautiful and I find the place to be exotic and interesting. I think everyone should see this as well. If our leaders and political leaders can't bring us together than maybe it is our explorers and travelers like Rick Steves.
dorothy mcconnell , you will love it there, there are so much historical sites, great foods, hospital able people, you do need translator though! Hope you go and enjoy it😊
“The flip side of fear is understanding.” Rick says it all there. I would love to visit Iran one day and study the Persian civilization, meet & befriend Iranian people, and indulge in their delicious cuisine.

GREAT MONUMENTS. But can anyone explain why there are no ancient (I mean pre-islamic) Persian writers known??? (Poetry, litterature, history etc). I have never heard of any and I am puzzled.
People in Iran look so happy and friendly! Awesome place, culture and people
Yeah we are friendly but not happy
I agree
@@goghnos8826 i pray your country finds peace and happiness
Starts with this tool not justifying and normalizing that government. Rick hasent ever had a spine it’s so obvious.

Another culture, except Iran, is one of the cradles of civilisation! Greeks too were a spin-off.

I am an Iranian lady, and thank you very much for making this wonderful video about my beautiful country and culture, Iran.
Thanks Rick for posting this. I first saw this episode on our local PBS station KQED a few years ago. Have been looking for it ever since.
