This video was done for educational purposes in no way am I saying do not get these types of tattoos or shaming you for having them.

I’ve had 3 encounters with Romeo. Two were tattoo experiences my best friend got and the other is my own personal experience. The first time was pretty positive, he was very nice and seemed humble. I decided I wanted to get a tattoo from him too and I’ll definitely have to go to my regular guy to try and fix it. There are parts that have definitely blurred/blown out and a few spots where the “Line God” was clearly MIA. The third and final time was summer of 2017. My best friend came out to visit me and wanted another tattoo from him. When we got to the shop he had a bunch of TH-cam guys there and they were all talking about going to some party in Malibu. My friend was just getting a script underboob tattoo and he messed up the placement about 4 times, he seemed frustrated that my friend wanted her $250 15-minute tattoo to look nice (it still came out a little crooked). He acted super annoyed that his hang out time was being cut into because quality work was expected of him... super unprofessional

Ashley H thank you for this, I have been a fan of his work for awhile now, as a artist myself, but as I got more into the art and how it works, i realized that single needle/micro tattoos with fine lines just can’t hold up no matter who does them, its just a bad idea for the long run... and hearing from people that got work from him helps, because I figured his work only looks good after the wipe, then of coarse i heard about his pedophile shit and lost the respect I had for him as a person, but his popularity and friends tear his work down at the same time im sure

One time one of my favorite drummers was tweeting about getting a new tattoo and someone replied “go to Romeo Lacoste” and so I replied back “don’t go to Romeo, it’s overpriced mediocre work” and I shit you not 2-3 months later he replied, to this tweet where no one had @ mentioned him directly and I didn’t mention his last name, and said “don’t hate on my work just because you can’t afford it” ............I could afford it if I wanted to but I’d rather spend my money on LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE, I would rather pay someone to punch me in the face repeatedly because a black eye isn’t permanent like one of Romeo’s shitty tattoos

Yeah. My latest tattoo took over 40 hours to do and cost over 4 000 dollars. It's a thigh and hip piece of a full-body cheetah. A friend of mine thought I was crazy for spending so much time and money on it and was bragging about his half sleeve that only took one sitting and cost 50 dollars. Needless to say, his tattoo looks like a bigger version of those fake tattoos you can get in chewing gum packages.
I spent 6 months planning my tattoo with my artist. There wasn't any reference images of the pose I wanted so he had to draw it from scratch. Everything from the colours, the pose, placement and size was designed for my body and he even positioned the cheetah's muscles over my own, so it looks like it's moving when I move, while also covering up a big scar on my thigh. If anyone were to try and replicate the tattoo on themselves it wouldn't work unless they had the same exact proportions as me. It's incredible, and I don't regret a thing.

Noemi Duliskovich thank you :) Luckily it wouldn't be impossible to cover up parts of my friends tattoo since some of the lines weren't deep enough and didn't stick and it overall has a very light look. It's his body but I just don't want him to regret it later on.

the attitude of an artist makes all the difference!! i got a 1rl (single needle) tattoo two years ago, the artist warned me upfront that it would likely blur and ultimately fade, and offered a free touch up in future if i wanted one. it's absolutely minute, has blurred a little but is still clear and i haven't needed a touch up yet, he did it for £50 which at the time i thought was a lot (this was my 2nd tattoo), 3 more tattoos later i'm so grateful i paid that much, that way i was guaranteed a good tattoo but it wasn't nearly as outrageous as romeo's prices
I think his minimum is ridiculous. $300 no matter the size when he “specializes” in small, single needle tattoos? No thanks. KAT VON D of all people has a cheaper minimum and she is one of, if not the, most well known tattoo artists. Just because someone tattoos celebrities, has a large following, and tattoos a large amount of people doesn’t give them the right to charge an arm and a leg for something the size of a quarter.
It's $400 minimum now.

He also never tags the people he tattoos (unless he's name dropping) or shows fresh vs healed pics. Most tattoo artists I've been to at the very least have updated pictures of the healed piece. Could he be scared that his don't heal well?🤔🤔

My tattoo artist tags everyone he tattoos. I send him pictures of my tattoos when they fully heal even tho I used to get monthly sessions with him and he was surprised how fast my skin heals he says I'm his favorite client because I take care of his work lol the shop does joke that I'm the size of a postage stamp tho lol
I just realized while watching this that none of the tattoos that Romeo has himself are fine line or single needle. None that I've seen anyway.
I think that he's a decent tattoo artist, but all of the shit that the Facebook group has dug up on him has made me realize how cocky he is and how shitty he is to people. Like (line) god damn, dude. Learn to take some constructive criticism.

I didn't realize that Romeo had gotten so big on TH-cam and with celebrities. I was tattooed by him in San Diego about 6 years ago because I was underage and he was tattooing in his house and didn't check for ID. I've since had the tattoo covered because it was shit. He also did a lot of tattoos on my friend, including huge roses on his neck which he has now had lasered off. I must say his work is a lot better now.
He also sometimes doesn't wear gloves while tattooing and let's youtubers tattoo other people without gloves

That’s my foot in the video, it started fading only months after I got it and it’s been about 5 months between the before and after. It doesn’t really bother me but it’s a shame it faded so much, should have listened to my artist! Great video, thanks for sharing 🙂

i was stupid and gave myself a foot tattoo in my bedroom, stick and poke style when i was 14. surprisingly it has held up better than some of my others and all of the examples in the video. i don’t know what i did but maybe I’M the line god?

I got the bottom of my foot tattooed and its completely gone now. It lasted about a year and a half before it was almost completely gone. Now youd never even know it was tattooed. Same thing with the inside of my lip, fingers, and palm..
That's so crazy. I have tattoos on different parts on both of my feet I got about 15 years ago and they look just like they did when I got them. I was told they would possibly disappear but they still look amazing

I was explaining my favorite types of tattoo styles to a coworker and she said she liked a certain tattoo and where she would put that. I tried to explain to her that a lot of people's tattoos are personal to them and they work with their artist to make something personal for them and she said "Oh no, that's why they put it on the internet. So you can take the image." I told her no, that's not why and it's to showcase their work and she said "Well, this is the United States so I'll take what I want." I really don't understand people.

I asked my artist to do my mums name the same way, font, size and location my dad had, not to honour him or remember him but Because I fucking liked it. If you are being told what you can/ can't have tattooed you're already doing it wrong. Get something you want, it doesn't matter if it came from instagram, TH-cam, twitter or out of your ass, if you like it then get it, that's what tattoos are all about.

Katie Sperr oh shoot I didn’t know that was the law in California!! He should be fined or have his tattooing license taken away, laws are laws. A 17 year old can wait a year, they’ll survive lol. He can't fight against what the body naturally does to the ink under the skin. Either he is ignoring/ignorant of the natural functions of the body, or he's lying. Not even considering other things that affect the crisp lines of a tattoo, the body itself breaks down the ink. When its single line, it breaks down quicker. Pretty simple to grasp.

Adding some extra info out there, not only single needle tattoos don't hold well, they aren't the safest either. As you explained in the beginning, usually tattoo needles come grouped from 3 to, i think to over twenty something, making one big needle. The problem with single needles is that as they are, well, single-not grouped with more needles, they are much ”softer“ or ductile, and its easier for them to break/get crooked during the process. It is also easier to “cut“ the skin (plus the blowouts issue).
Belzs_21 how do you even get the ink to go into the skin? Usually the ink travels into the space between the needles. That is why for stick n pokes with a single needle you wrap the needle in thread so the thread can soak up some ink

Could his secret be that he is using smp.. specialized needles that have zero blow out to do the tattoos? if the pigmant/ink was dark enough, theoretically it could be possible..Anyways interesting thoughts on single needle tattoos, stay humble unlike that other guy :D

The small details in this video reminds me of an artist I follow that’s in my area of California, she does single needle/ micro tattoos, she said one of her tattoos, specifically of a hexapus, that was the size of half a school ruler dot-work and fine-line would be $140 per hour.. I was beyond shocked by it especially since I’ve spent $500(rate was $140/hr) by another artist that finished my leg tattoo within 3 hours. I don’t like artists that are so bigheaded and then overcharge. I’ll gladly spend $300, $500 on a piece, a larger design, but not on some design that’s size of a dime.

I'm 18 and thinking about tattoos, I follow Romeo and have always been suspicious about him not posting healed tattoos. This video was very educational and has 100% changed my opinion on him as both a tattoo artist and a human. I will not be making the mistake of saving up and travelling to get a tattoo by him, which I may have done in the future. Thank you!
I did not get a single needle tattoo from Romeo, however my tattoo did not heal well. The general line work is fine but he did do part of it in white ink and did not outline it and that part looks awful. I got it done years ago at a convention before he started focusing on the single needle work. It looks awful and I'm embarrassed of it. I feel that it's a tattoo that would have looked better on lighter skin. The problem is not me or my skin, the problem was the color choice. My friend got a matching one with me and hers is literally CROOKED.. CROOKED and the lines are wonky. I feel that now he is all about the money. Charging that much for these minimalistic tattoos is outrageous. I'm sorry but I don't know any artist that genuinely enjoys doing those kind of tattoos such as a wave. Once or twice a week is one thing, but specializing in it????? How is that at all fulfilling?

I have a tattoo that is ok but not anywhere near the quality of my others but I love it. But I also know it’s a poor tattoo and I didn’t do my research and I would never recommend that artist ever in a million years. I also feel like he is a good example of a somebody rushing to get covered in tattoos once they turn 18 and not researching. Just like post Malone... I love that man but once he got money and could get tattooed he rushed and within 6 months was covered in ok tattoos. Olivia Piper Robeck completely disagree. Disregarding style and subject he is covered in all around poorly executed tattoos. Not only does he have the money to go to a better artist and pay for a decent tattoo he has the popularity to go to an excellent artist and get one for free. He can still like them while they are horrible. Many people have a love-hate relationship with their bad tattoos.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Romeo Lacoste. The talent is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics, most of the lines will go over a typical tattoo enthusiast's head. There's also Romeo's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Jesus Christ himself, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these artworks, to realize that they're not just art- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Romeo Lacoste truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Romeo's existencial catchphrase "I'm the line god", which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Romeo Lacoste's tattoing genius unfolds itself. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Romeo tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only (also its blown out) - And even they have to demonstrate that they're within five IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I followed Romeo before watching this video, I knew about him because he had tattooed Pentatonix. Just because of this I assumed he was a good tattoo artist because on them he has done fairly big tattoos with bold lines and colors. After seeing this and realizing that he’s now claiming to be able to do the impossible, I’ve unfollowed. Bye

Tory Killam you can specialise in a style but not like that style of tattoos personally, especially tattooists who have been tattooing a long time they would mostly have what was tattooed most back then such as traditional but while they are tattooing over time they perfect their style that they can do best.

I love Anrijs and Barbosa. You have quite the good taste. I also don't like Romeo because he's one of the main reason that clients insult me when I explain to them why I can't do their tiny ass tattoos that you can only see through a microscope lol.

I recently got a fine line tattoo, and it's so horrible. I paid 350 plus a tip (so stupid). The tattoo took less than 30 minutes and the lines are horrible. The person who did it has 55,000 followers on instagram. The entire tattoo is going to have to be redone.

It was the worst. It was a guest artist they promoted. I looked forward to it for months. Such a let down. I took a whole day off work, and traveled over 4 hours. Now I have to travel back and have a different artist do the redo. I'm praying the redo looks amazing. At least it's on my back so I don't have to look at it. lol
Damn unlucky, i just got my single needle fine line tattoo and so far it looks absolutely incredible, and they are only on 8000 followers which is crazy to me. the service was incredible too, wasnt your usual busy loud parlour, it was spa like and 1 on 1, very personal and private, thoroughly discussed the design, the risks of blowout etc and how to optimise and get the best results. only ended up costing £200 including the deposit, not including the optional tip. If anyone is is london i 100% recommend 13.22

Agreed! People age, tattoos age, that's how it goes - especially with those kind of small thin lines. Claiming otherwise with a rude attitude really seems stupid and irresponsible.

Ugh, Romeo strikes me as a back-stabbing social climber. Ex: taking Ricegums side (despite proof of Rice being in the wrong) during the Gabbie Show drama even though he was closer with Gab. Since then I've been giving him the side eye, but this confirms my suspicions that he's just an all around shitty person. I don't have tattoos and don't really want any (shoutout to my fear of commitment 😅) but I've watched many of your videos and admire you putting yourself out there for the purpose of educating. i have a tattoo of two hands on the back of my arm!! i wanted it smaller but my tattoo artist warned me about the integrity of the tattoo. so, i got it bigger and the lines a bit thicker than i wanted. it's been almost a year since i got it and i've been taking really good care of it!! people always tell me that it looks like i literally just got it. i'm so glad i didn't get a single needle tattoo like i wanted
Wish i had seen this before I got my single needle tattoo 😭 The artist warned me it would spread and blur but it’s actually spread quite evenly. He is going to touch it up soon. But for anyone wondering it spread out within months. It’s on my wrist. No fading but or blurring. The shape is still crisp but it’s definitely wider than it was the first day.

Great video :) I got a single needle tattoo in January from a guy who specialises in it. I was fully aware of the fading etc and to be honest its been 3 months and it could already do with a touch up but if you understand that and are willing to get the touch ups etc I think they're very pretty :)

Ugh please research first, my friends dad owns a shop so I went there instead of my first artist because I was being antsy and wanted it done, the guy didn’t listen and went to redraw what I gave him, so I had to make clear that I wanted exactly what I drew (I’m an artist myself and wanted my art on me) twice because he didn’t seem like he was listening, I should have left then but I really wanted the piece then, so I got it done anyways and left a tip, just to notice already blown out and not straight line work... I don’t really now what to do since I’m very non confrontational but I am probably going to go to my first artist to try and salvage it... please research and make sure you’re comfortable with your artist!!
I think what Romeo fails to realize is that maybe he can do them well and they look great when they're fresh, but a good tattoo will withstand the test of time. Not just look good when its first done....

Like Romeo keeps saying: it's worth it to go to a good artist since it's going to be on your body forever. Which means, don't go to Romeo unless you want an ugly permanent reminder of your naïvety.

I think I had something like 3-5 of the people I follow following Romeo (I had never heard of him before this 😂😂🙊) and it was basically just the celebrities that I follow 😂.
I also had a wrist tattoo recently and asked my artist if we could do smaller/thinner and she flat out said no. She wasn’t willing to do it and told me it would look like crap in just a few years. I was grateful she had the foresight to consider how our natural human bodies eat up tattoos over time ❤️ love your videos! 🙌🙌
I wanted one of these fine line tattoos but I didn't know what it was called so I asked my artist if he could do a small tattoo of a few stars. He said sure and drew it up, then printed it out. It was over 10 times bigger than I wanted it to be. So I asked my artist if he could make it a lot smaller and he made it a little smaller and said "this is as far as I can go. Even smaller and it will not look good in a few years". I took his advice and I'm happy I did. The tattoo is only a year old, but it looks great. One of the stars are faded, but that happened during the healing process so I'm blaming myself for that one. Other than that one star it's as crisp as my thigh piece that took over 40 hours to do. A respectable artist will tell you if it's a bad idea to get a tattoo and I strongly encourage you to listen to them.

Wish I had your followed your Facebook book earlier as I have a single-needle Cinderella picture on my middle finger and after it healed it was patchy and I had to go back for a touch up... now I have a thicker outline and it’s still faded and has gone patchy after just after a year.
Doesn’t bother me as I prefer ‘old’ looking tattoos as I become emotionally attached to them and it gives them ‘character’ hahha!!!

this guy is UNBELIEVABLE. I came across one of his videos by chance and he referred to himself as a "very well known artist". It's one of those things where while yes, any well-known person will come across people who have no idea who they are, but there is still something deeply tragic about having to tell people that you are famous.
Another youtuber I watch gets all of her tattoos done by him and when I looked into his prices to see how much she could have spent on such simple little tattoos, I saw his narcissism I was blown away.

I've just discovered your channel, and the timing is perfect! I am hoping to get my first tattoo this summer, but am very much a perfectionist so I want to do all the research I can on tattoos in general. There is a lot I hadn't considered regarding placement especially, this video is wonderful! Your content is very educational and entertaining, it's making me even more eager to get tattoos !
I got a tattoo by him in 2017. His minimum back then was $200. I was extremely nervous when I went in, seeing as he was a “a pretty big deal.” He didn’t have me sign any paperwork, never asked for an ID. I was definitely over 18 but I do look young for him to not confirm my age. He asked me what I wanted and he went to go do the outline. I was so nervous I didn’t fully pay attention when he came back to have me approve the outline so I didn’t realize it was shitty script and that it was crooked. I partially take fault for not being more observant to the outline but also as the artist, he should’nt have presented me with shitty, crooked script in the first place. Mind you, i was his first client of the day so it wasn’t like he could’ve been tired or was overwhelmed to not notice. He simply does not care as long as he’s getting paid. I was so unpleased with how it came out that I had it covered up last year.
To anyone thinking about getting a tattoo done by him, please consider other artists. There are plenty of talented people out there who not only will give you a fair price but will really care about your comfort throughout the process and the outcome of your tattoo. Keep in mind that he shares what he chooses to share and obviously, he’s not going to post tattoos that he doesn’t think meet his “line god” standards. He’s not the only artist that can do micro tattoos and he most definitely is not the only artists who can do fine lines. Please do your research.

Can I just say I know next to nothing about professional tattoos and the way you explain what's what and why finger tattoos arent a good idea and what blow out is, is super helpful and helps people like me who is fairly new to the tattoo scene (I got my first one last year) to really enjoy your content and still have like a great time watching your videos
