I love all of the CR bards in the show. I personally have a hard time comparing Sam, Robbie and Lou (who's also part Bard - College of Swords) to one another because they all had their own unique take on the class that made them stand out on their own. Scanlan - while stereotypical, had his own set of issues and struggles (and amazing songs to that entertainingly Sam fashion) that made him so well loved. Loquatius - flamboyant and basks at the attention of the populace due to his celebrity status, but he only ever wanted the attention of the one person he loves. Nydas - a jovial man that had big hopes for the future; believing that anyone can reach beyond the skies if they give everything they got to make it happen. It's no wonder why he has a guild of people who believes in his visions too. Dorian - an awkward, charming mess but is humble (despite his noble status) and kind that can melt even an old woodworking gnome's grumpy heart. In Sam's own words, he's a good sounding board that anyone can easily talk and relate to. Definitely gives off the 'little brother' vibes at Bell's Hells.
I am so happy that Sam was part in Calamity he has the right amount of humor for the story and has great chemistry with Aabria, I needed the few funny moments since Calamity was so intense in the best way possible
the way that Either Sam or Brennan can throw a bit of character acting or worldbuilding to one another and not have a single beat missed as the other catches it is kinda mindblowing. I almost feel like they had the same chemistry Brennan has with Lou and Murph combined.
You know the tragic part is that since changelings are now fey instead of humanoid, once they die their soul gets transported back to the fey wild where they reform back into themselves instead of going to the afterlife like how it would usually happen for humanoids
I think Sam said Caesar Flickerman was one of his inspirations for Loquatius. It was either in the ExU: Calamity wrap-up or in an episode of 4 Sided Dive.
Bard was the class Sam was absolutely born to play. Don't get me wrong, I loved what Dorian did with the class, but Sam is on another level entirely

I think this character tops Scanlan, through out my favorite, made me laugh the most. Sam really did an amazing job with this performance.

They do t have to be fey... The rule books are a guideline that the dm can use or change the story.

No, if that were the case the Seelie Court matriarch would not have saved them, and she also said "on your world" when talking about Exandria to Sam.
Exandria lore is a bit different. Fey souls aren’t immortal by nature unlike Toril
