There is only ONE requirement to receive Amrit: give your “head” (mind, body, wealth, etc) to the Guru. Everything else is just a byproduct of following hukam. As someone who received Khand Di Phaul (Amrit) on Vaisakhi 2017, I can tell you firsthand that it’s not easy, and being initiated into the Khalsa Panth is not the end, it’s just the beginning. Receiving Amrit is like getting Into a university, but then working towards a degree.
The Turbanator veeray i am going to take amrit on sunday for the second time, the first time was as a kid, didnt know anything, forced to take it by my family basically, made loads of mistakes, kurehats, the problem is i live in a city where there are no gurdwaras and i have to go to another city for the ceremony. Takes almost 4 hours to go there. So my question was, i panj pyaaray tell me to do sewa in gurdwara for a number of days, i am not going to be able to do it because its too far, is there any other punishment that they give people?

Since Khand Di Phaul (“Amrit”) cannot be forced on someone, you technically never received it in the first place because you didn’t know what was happening and because you willingly didn’t commit to it. Just tell the Panj Pyare that this is your first time, because it technically is. As for the Gurdwara Seva, just let them know that it’s not an option for you because you live far away, and I am sure they will understand. Please keep me posted on what happens next!
I’m Muslim and I’m learning about this because I enjoy learning about other religions. Also I’m from Pakistani Punjab so I love Punjabi music especially indian Punjabi music. I firstly looked into the Sikh religion to understand what some of the singers were talking about.
The interisting part is im taking amrit in 2 days...and one of the panj pyare will fetch me from home and let me stay in his house for a day before i take amrit...

If things align correctly I will soon.. one other thing he said if I’m not mistaken was creating better habits as we continue our path in Amrit. The first step imo is tackling the mind. Hey first I thought I am ready for Amrit because I am not into any kurhait and pure vegetarian since birth, however, after taking Amrit I started feeling burden of responsibility and realised that I was actually not ready but took this decision of taking pious Amrit early. I still don’t do any kurhait. I would want to have it in few years agin, however, now I wasn’t ready and extremely burdened to do kaahli. Please help.

When preparing Amrit in the bata the khanda should be double edge sharp, Khanda di tar meaning SHARP! Guruji used a faledi double edge khanda, which was 3 feet in length, nowadays khanda used are dull, how can we expect to be Singh’s, Guruji created Lions out of sparrows.. Against oppression and to help the weak...
Talk to your parents ask them what there stance on sikhi then convert because once you know there stance you can counter act what they will say to u when u come into sikhi and u can give a gurmukh response and they wont be able to fight it

Jo James this is what I thought also but many years ago I took Amrit in India and the 5 Pyara were from the golden temple who conducted the ceremony. I was younger and there was a language barrier but I do remember someone asking when question were allowed and they said if you have to you can but make sure it’s not Halal meat. I think if I’m not wrong ultimately no life should be killed for our pleasure as a decent human being and Gursikh should take this into account however again if I’m not mistaken Guru Jee has ultimately left us with this decision with the goal of achieving vegetarianism. The next step would be veganism. I may be wrong because I’m shamefully not amritdhari myself.

It is wrong to eat as form of diet. Therefore no you cant eat meat unless its a last resort issue of survival . And under any extent you cant eat halal meat even in a survival issue. Yes anybody from any religion can become a baptised gursikh at any of their life.you should stop cutting your hair and become familiar with sikhism its history rules and regulations and when you think you are ready then you should go to amrit sanchar if you need anykind of help or have queries then you should contact the priest(granthi)of your nearest gurdwara they would throuoghly guide you in this path

Nitnem might be different. SGPC will usually say Jaapji Sahib, Jaap and Tav Prasad Savaiye but Hazur Sahib. Says Full Panj Bani. SGPC also might not do full Chalee Pauri of Anand Sahib, but do 6 Pauri and shorter Chaupai Sahib. Other differences I'm not sure.

Usually children take Choola, made by stirring a Kirpan in Water and Sugar Patase in a smaller iron Bata and only by One Amritdhari Singh. Some kids may take Khande Di Pahul (Amrit) but usually not and Choola is given to initiate the child as a Sikh who will one day join the Khalsa Panth.
yes you should have a full body shower including your hair then wear the five ks kirpan kanga keshera and kara u must have this done before entering a amrit sanchar

For example, In the Jewish religion (as far as I know) if you great great grandmother was Jewish, that makes you (her great great grandchild), Jewish. Does Sikhi work the same way?
For being sikh you must believe in the Guru Sahiban. If one has punjabi descended then he/she is punjabi. But for being in a religion you must first follow it

Some Nihang Singhs are known to eat Jhatka.

Bhaji, whether the amrit sanchar ceremony in Hazur Sahib is different from sgpc?
Nitnem might be different. SGPC will usually say Jaapji Sahib, Jaap and Tav Prasad Savaiye but Hazur Sahib. Says Full Panj Bani. SGPC also might not do full Chalee Pauri of Anand Sahib, but do 6 Pauri and shorter Chaupai Sahib. Other differences I'm not sure.

What are rules for new born baby . Can his parents make him take Amrit?
Usually children take Choola, made by stirring a Kirpan in Water and Sugar Patase in a smaller iron Bata and only by One Amritdhari Singh. Some kids may take Khande Di Pahul (Amrit) but usually not and Choola is given to initiate the child as a Sikh who will one day join the Khalsa Panth.

For example, In the Jewish religion (as far as I know) if you great great grandmother was Jewish, that makes you (her great great grandchild), Jewish. Does Sikhi work the same way?
it dosent matter what cast creed or sect your from when u recive amrit u are a siikh u are reborn as a Sikh from then on
For being sikh you must believe in the Guru Sahiban. If one has punjabi descended then he/she is punjabi. But for being in a religion you must first follow it
