    Sikh is a person who live according to will of god. The body that the creator gave us is perfect .hairs are one of the gifts to us. each hair has a specific function . hair also help in meditation. so therefore Sikhs keep hairs as a respect for god. Sikhs cut only the dead part of nail because it is rigid and therefore cannot be removed by itself as is the case with hairs which grow to certain length and drop afterwards . so therefore Sikh remove his dead hairs using comb and dead nails using nailcutter.

    it is a common sense that nail cannot be dropped by itself after its function is complete because of its rigid structure and sensitive function to protect finger tips. therefore god change the texture of nails in order for us to identify that nail has completed its function

    i’d keep my hair but it gives me headaches the last time i tried - on top of this it looked very unprofessional for a job as my beard wasn’t fully growing properly - i can’t keep kesh on the sides and back of my head without it hurting after 3 inches bc my hairs curly ? what do i do

    • @XalonGaming
      @XalonGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In terms of the headaches you will eventually get used to it. Its equivalent to someone who cuts their hair saying my head feels a lot lighter or even after washing your hair. Also you don't have to go all in if you can't yet, you can simply start tying a dastar and having no or some facial hair. If you want to grow your facial hair properly use beard oil and theres plenty of non sikh sources.
      This is just my opinion btw, not aligned 100% with gurmakh and I personally dont see kesh as the first step of the journey of sikhi; theres other steps you can make first. I say this as someone that grew up with kesh and has kept it.

      Jazz Kaur . I learnt my prayers about 3/4 years ago . What helped me was listening to Japji sahib every morning on my journey to work . It's last just 20 mins and you can listen on your iPod . Then on route home in the evening Id listen to rehrass . Like you I then started reading but what happened was I kind of knew the following shabad through memory . Because I'd heard it so many times . You just need to be patient in the beginning because it will take an hour to do a 20 min pray but in 6 months you will be fluent . Good luck !

      Sister I'm 38 and I only started learning a couple of years ago. It's definitely not too late. You can use the Gurbani playlist by Basics of Sikhi as a good starting point but having someone teach you is best as they can advise where you make mistakes and don't realise.

      yes you can reach there only if you practice the true part of your faith, in guru granth sahib we have writings of non Sikh people because they realised the true part in their faith, but the truth is divided, if you want to practice complete truth you should follow the Sikh way of life but following your own faith in a true manner is also good

      nikos t Guru Nanak Dev Ji said, "before we become a hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Isiah, we should all become humans." This means that we are all humans, and religion is something formed by man, or God in the shape of man during certain circumstances or events. We are all Gods children as he gave all of us life. As long as your actions are that of a pious and righteous man's, you will go to sach khand.
