- Here's a couple different ways to tell if the $1 bill you have is REAL or FAKE! Since this is the lowest value bill, there aren't as many security features as some of the higher value bills have.

The main way to know if a bill is a genuine counterfeit is to look for the red and blue fibers.
The design is the security..
All bills have texture.
All have fibers.
All will test the same.
This kinda just covered the basics of checking any bills in general.
What mistakes do the counterfeiters make that we could look for? What is common for $1's?

I have a Series 2009 Five dollar bill. I'm not sure if it's just old or fake.
That bill is so close to being a fancy serial number
The "embedded" colours are from the back of the dollar creasing into the front. Like if you have it folded in your wallet for ages. Like the ones you had pointed out were the outlines of the E from the back of the dollar bill on the word ONE
Not exactly, although I WAS pointing in the area near where you can see the 'E' from 'ONE' coming through from the back of the bill, I wasn't speaking on the shadowing of ink coming though from the back of the bill, I was actually speaking on the red and blue embedded fibers, as I stated, this is very hard for me to capture on video, so I do apologize about that confusion.
Federal Reserve note paper is 1/4 Linen and 3/4 Cotton and contains red and blue security fibers dispersed throughout. I will paste a link to the Secret Service website that also confirms this, it is the second in the list on the page:

You should do the two dollar bill, but then again it is the same as the one. Since it is such a low denomination. They still make them. You can get them at your local bank.

Have you ever come across a counterfeit bill? When and where?
Playing bingo with family, we all pitch in a dollar, and who ever wins gets to keep the money. We only do this during the holidays. I won. Earned $12. A relative pulls out his wallet and shows me a handful of hundreds. My first instinct was to look for the water mark. I already knew it was fishy because of how it looked and felt. Then I found out it literally said play money.

will these methods work on the old US bills from 30's, $500 and $1000? The marker trick won't work for the obvious reason. What else not to damage the high value bills?

Possibly fake, unless someone cut the other one to make it smaller, bills are all pretty precise as far as sizing
