You have renewed my obsession with coin and currency collecting. I've collected Greek and Roman coins for a bit but kind of ignored the US coins my father left me. I'm back into them. Right off the bat found a palindrome bill. Very cool.
I kept 2 bills for years that had over inked numbers. Thought they were worth a ton because they were errors. When I finally brought them in I found out they were worth nothing more than a regular dollar. This over inking happens when they re-ink the die.
When checking the 1995 series bills you should keep an eye out for the FW 295 error. Also, I used to go through hundreds of one's a day and finding one star note every 200 - 400 bills is normal.
Do you know of a book to read that tells about what to look for in $1.00 bills like ladders, bookends, star notes etc. And that has how much they are worth. Jebus has got me started on a new hobby. After watching this video I checked my wallet and found a ladder and maybe a birthday dollar bills. So now I wondering how much they are worth. Thanks for any info you can give.
@@joycet.3040 I can't recommend a specific book but uspapermoney.info is a great site that will take you months to fully digest. He covers star notes, print runs, the various ways bills are made. You can even find a serial number lookup to find out where and when your bill was made. As far as values go, check ebays completed auctions for what bills are going for at the moment. Most coin and currency books are out of date before they're even printed.
Thanks Night Hawk for the into. I checked out the website and they most certainly do have quite a bit of information on it. And I will go check EBay's completed auctions. That will also help quite a bit. Thanks!
In reference to your explanation of the different types of notes...its not just the seal that is a different color but also (usually) the serial number. Also, there are (were) National Bank notes which had a brown seal and serial number and Federal Reserve Bank Notes which could be either blue or brown. There is not much chance of finding any of these bank notes in circulation due to their age, however, I recall years ago (when my folks owned a flea bag motel) that a guest had paid for their stay with National Bank Notes. Have no idea why...perhaps he/she/they were down on their luck and had to spend part of their collection.
I've had a lot of star notes, I didn't think they were worth more than face value because they weren't old at all. It looks like next time I come across one, I'll make sure to look it up!

Once again, great video. One minor correction, Silver certificates (blue seals) are no longer "backed by silver." Since 1968, silver certificates have only been redeemable in Federal Reserve Notes. Older star notes have the star at the beginning of the serial number. I also have about 100 /20 page wallets that have all my star notes and money from the 50s, and 20s and the rarer Hawaii notes.
The silver certificate with the yellow treasury seal that was shown at the beginning of the video is called a North Africa note. During the time in WWII when American troops were battling Rommel for control of the whole northern swath of the African continent, US soldiers on this front were paid only in these specially printed bills. The reason was that the US feared that the Nazis might take all of the US currency that troops were pumping into the local economies. In case this did happen, the yellow seal would indicate that the money had been stolen, and the US could intentionally devalue specifically just the North African US silver certificates, blocking Germany from using the money.
I remember when you found those coins in a storage locker. You found some semi new ones you didn't think had any value but there are lots of newer coins that have really good value. I hope you looked further into them before spending them!

Radar notes are worth lots of $$ if of course in great condition,I'm always on the lookout for them, Sometimes called "SWIMS" when serial numbers remains the same when the note is rotated through a half turn[upside-down].The middle digit must be 0 or 8 and the remaining digits must be 0,6,8 or 9.In Canadian banknotes each denomination only has 127 Rotator/SWIMS of every ten million notes.Example 6990669/8860988/9000006.In America you would have many more just by virtue of the larger scale of banknotes printed in your country. Just think how many banknotes that are printed in your country .

Does anyone know if my $2 bill is worth anything? It’s a normal $2 bill that is a 2003A series. I ran it through a fancy serial number checker and it was 94%. The serial number is F03214413A
THOSE REPEATING 11111'S ON THAT BILL IS WHAT I LOOK AT AND ALSO I LOOK FOR STUFF LIKE THAT WHEN PICKING MY SCRATCH OFF PACKS THEY OFTEN HAVE 500'S IN THEM AND MAYBE MORE SOMEDAY UNIQUE NUMBER COMBOS
This year I gave a coworker face value on a 1966 $100 A 00378837 A. 1966 is the last year for the red seals, the A series is a little harder to find than the non A's and sadly no star notes in the A's and 512K A's were printed. At least it'll never go down in value =}
I have also just been learning about collecting money. The one you found that was 2019, even if its not a error on the 1, people also buy date ones. Yours started with 2019 and that is a birthdate for people and I saw where they will buy notes that start with a birthdate. Like one that starts with 1970 etc. They have to be the first 4 numbers though. So even if its not a printing error, people will buy it because its a possible birthdate. Sorry they were all sucky though. I am going to get 100$ in singles when I get paid. If I get anything cool I will let you know. Love your channel !!!!

But it's the same with euro bills/coins and the "Deutsche Mark" (former german currency). I never had the luck to have one that is worth more than its face value.
I really do love these videos. Thank you so much for this fun video.
Hey Jebus, years ago when I was working in banking I came across a $20 bill with an orange seal... I wish I would have bought that but who knew the worth of money... I was just young and dumb back than... Good luck on the money you find...
Never heard of that
The 4 digit serial number
I thought I saw a bill with 666 in the serial number. Some people - not me - actually collect these "Devil Dollars". I actually do have a Star Note that just happens to be a Devil Dollar. Ugh!
Wow! Never thought of that!
7:30 minor printing error but doesn’t add any value
There is a Canadian dime that is wotth loads of cash it has tall numbers in the year 1969
i have that in my five dollar 1988 A series web note...
I think the red yellow or blue ones have to be handed out..not counted via the bank..since their machines take out these worthy notes
Definitely very unlikely, never gotten one from the bank, but you can get them as change from a store. Still very unlikely, but it happens
Do you play a piano? Just wondering. You have unusual fingers. Nothing wrong but they are amazing. I study hands. Just flipping through and noticed your hands. Great video too.
I just acquired a stack of $1 star notes... selling each for $5 on ebay...
Nice!!
Bueno Suerte' mi amigos.
(Good Luck)
What a great voice this kid has.
I ACTUALLY HAVE A $20 BILL THAT HAS A STAR AT THE END OF THE SERIAL NUMBER!!!!
Star notes, aka replacement notes, can be worth a lot of money! cool find
Me too.
I was going to tell you to watch silverpicker, but you said the same thing he did about web notes. He's a good one to check out if you haven't already done so.
Does anyone know if my $2 bill is worth anything? It’s a normal $2 bill that is a 2003A series. I ran it through a fancy serial number checker and it was 94%. The serial number is F03214413A
I'm suprised you haven't checked out the reverse sides.
THOSE REPEATING 11111'S ON THAT BILL IS WHAT I LOOK AT AND ALSO I LOOK FOR STUFF LIKE THAT WHEN PICKING MY SCRATCH OFF PACKS THEY OFTEN HAVE 500'S IN THEM AND MAYBE MORE SOMEDAY UNIQUE NUMBER COMBOS
This year I gave a coworker face value on a 1966 $100 A 00378837 A. 1966 is the last year for the red seals, the A series is a little harder to find than the non A's and sadly no star notes in the A's and 512K A's were printed.
At least it'll never go down in value =}
I just got into coin collecting, but now I'm also going to check my paper money.
Love your channel !!!!
thanks!
