Spot on. I believe the exact same thing. I had to move away from Pan’s channel once I heard he was coming out with his own line. Nothing against Pan or his products. I may try them at some point, but I will only trust reviews from channels that don’t seem compromised. There are a lot of channels that seem more like infomercials these days.

There are just simply too many good products out there nowadays and that it's no longer revolutionary.

Thanks very much for an honest review!! I'm sure there are other honest reviews, but the "conflict of interest" issue frequently needs to be considered. I have no problem with folks like DIY Detail and EC Details (Eddie Colon) having their own product lines and also a TH-cam channel. Neither channel claims their products are the #1 best, like Pan does. DIY Detail shows you how to detail different parts of the car and provides lots of great tips. Although they use their own products, they don't push their products like Pan's infomercials.. It was quite a while before I realized EC Details even had their own product line. Eddie reviews a wide variety of products, some of which they sell on their House of Rags website, but if something sucks, I have confidence Eddie would say so. Keep up the good work as I am now a happy subscriber to your channel.

Good job. Pan was the first detailing channel I watched when I got into detailing my personal cars (I have between 5-8 cars on hand depending on the moon phase) 5 years ago, after watching other channels like the Forensic Detailing channel I started to get suspicious of what I was seeing on Pan's channel. After the drama of what I call the "Great TH-camr Flame War" a couple of years ago when certain revelations about Pan's business practices came to light I stopped watching him.

    THE ONLY HONEST REAL REVIEW!
Yes this is the only honest real review thus far.
By having no affiliation nor affiliate links you took away everyone’s power and excuses, great job man!
I found it funny how people put “honest and thorough” review yet they are totally biased and either friends with Mr advertiser or I would see them defending him on the chats of other videos, interesting how they can shamelessly say the are “honest” while the entire video they are trying so hard to cover the reality and shift the narrative from the truth.
The products are good like most other product lines, not even above average in multiple areas and definitely far from “best”
Even in his thumbnails the guy went from “the very best in the world” to “amazing soap/rinseless”
Pointing out the facts DOES NOT MAKE YOU A HATER, and it doesn’t mean you’re jealous. Truth doesn’t care about your feelings.
Not tolerating lies doesn’t make you a hater, jealous or troll. People who are not paid by Mr Advertiser fight tooth and nail to cover up the unavoidable, if they are willing to do that for FREE I can’t imagine what they would do for a few dollars. Talking about having no integrity or being compromised.
Before some try to say just stop watching him, don’t worry we did. And there are plenty of better lines of products and channels, we just don’t tolerate lies being perpetrated as truth.

I'm not a Pan apologist or a Pan hater, so how this whole thing has played out has been entertaining/annoying watching everyone either completely lose their crap or reveal themselves to be unquestioning fanboys.
What has been the most interesting to me is how people seem to be convinced that Pan ever had a "review" channel. I've been watching him for years, though never religiously, I usually just clicked when I saw a product or process I was interested in. To me his channel has always been a showcase channel. He kept things positive, and only showed products he personally liked or was being paid to show. Pan's channel has always been biased since day one, but I don't think he ever tried to hide his bias or come across as objective detailing truth.
Experiences with detailing products are extremely subjective, people get influenced very easily and tend to be very tribal in nature. Either they like or hate the company that makes/sells it and that determines 90% of how they feel about it.
For me it comes down to caveat emptor. I always assume I'm being marketed to and I take every claim with a grain of salt. I only buy a product that I'm willing to toss in the trash if it doesn't measure up in my usage. This is one reason why I've been a fan of The Rag Company over the years. Yes, they are selling to me too, but I at least have some confidence that they've put in the work on the back end to only carry products that meet their high standards. A perfect example is some of the new OPT products that Dr. G released last year at SEMA. OPT has been a huge part of TRC since they got into selling detailing chemicals. They opted to not carry some of those new products because they didn't meet their standards.
As for Pan, I don't give a crap that he gave his products the top spot in his product "awards" (something I've never watched before). I think he probably would have been better off mentioning them in each category they compete in, and talking about the characteristics he designated for them to have...but then holding them off to the side and giving his top picks besides the ones he put his name on. That would have come across better to the people who thought they were getting honest and unbiased reviews.
I'm a rinseless fanatic and a big fan of spray polishes, so I did pick up both of those products. Are they "the best?" No, because there is no such thing. There are attributes I like for certain situations. They are both definitely unique formulations and not relabeled DIY Detail products as some have alleged. I need more time with the spray polish, but it seems to cut and wipe off a little better than DIY Detail does. Both of them outperform OPT Hyper Polish (at least the older version I have). The rinseless is really nice, and I find myself reaching for it a lot. It is slick, cleans well, smells good, and leaves some non-durable polymers for that quick detailer-like feel...but it isn't stacking protection on my coating.
I don't think I have much interest in the rest of the line. I don't really use spray sealants anymore (they have their place but not on my vehicles), and I would only grab the panel prep if I was using his coatings, which I'll leave for others to try. pH neutral soaps are boring to me, and I'm not really a fan of solvent tire dressings.

    • @sheepstardetail
      @sheepstardetail  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

I think you’re perspective and outlook is the only outlook to have when it comes you TH-cam detailing and just marketing in general. Always assume there is a pitch in there even if it’s not obvious, and take what you see with a grain of salt - my channel included.
The awards show was just too on the nose for even a lot of die hard supporters, and that’s what sparked the big push back. Some people finally had the rose coloured glasses taken off and they didn’t like the view anymore. I always knew what was going on, and if I was interested in the product I’d usually check it out and a few others. Overall one glowing review isn’t enough for me to grab it for a video, it needs to have something defining to contrast against somewhere else in the category…. Or I just really want to try it.

@@sheepstardetail I would like to add too that the one thing I really dislike about TH-cam (and social media) detailing is the FUD that gets spread about products and brands. I have the impression (though no facts) that Eddie Colon and JTC have been big purveyors of this over the last year as they have been working on their business behind the scenes. They've been fluffing up the brands that they are now carrying while spreading misinformation and bias against the competition.
One glaring example that I saw was the NGNT Diamond ProTech coatings that use "nano-diamond" and "carbon nanotube" technology. Are those technologies the real deal when it comes to automotive coatings? Maybe...maybe not. I don't know and I really don't care one way or the other. But there are some obvious business connections between DIY/C6 (who sell "detonated nano-diamond" coatings and Eddie/THOR/Detail Co (whose Thick ceramic coating includes carbon nanotubes per the SDS). There has been very little info provided so far on the Detail Co coatings and they have yet to mention the "carbon nanotubes" outside of the SDS, but were they lying when they claimed in a live podcast that the DPT products suck or turn yellow? If they were in the early stages of developing their own products and planning their business (with investor money) it isn't that big of a leap to see that they might want to try to knock down a competitor in the court of public opinion. Could that same investor be involved behind the scenes with DIY/C6? Maybe even PTO?
I'm not into conspiracies, but if I were to believe Jamie/Eddie on DPT coatings, I might be led to think that The Rag Company sucks and is lying to people about DPT coatings when they are marketing them as the "next best thing" in coatings.
I'm just enough of a contrarian that I installed DPT Diamond Body 36 on my own car one year ago (at the apex of the criticism surrounding DPT products) to see which side was right. I have subjected it to dirt roads and salty winter roads in MN, road trips through heavy rains and tons of bugs that have been left on to bake for days in high temps. Is it an impenetrable force field? Nope. I know I have my own biases, but I've been extremely happy with my DB36 coating so far. It was easy to install, looks great, performs great and has lived up to the marketing thus far. It has been maintained mainly with standard rinseless washes but has seen the full pH scale from KCx Reactivation Shampoo (which JTC claimed would kill it) and DIY water spot remover, to alkaline/citrus prewashes like BH Auto-Foam and Touch-Less, Stjarnagloss Forst, Optimum Power Clean and KCx Active Foam and MSN. It is still performing like day one as I have not used any sealants, toppers or drying aids. I only dry with non-protective rinseless washes. Time will tell how it performs in the latter half of its design life, but so far it looks good. It also hasn't yellowed (my car is white) and the control area I have on the roof with CSL/EXO performs/looks the same.

@@sheepstardetail I may be way off base, but the timing of everything (per their own words) makes it all very suspect in my eyes. Jamie even let it slip in the Detail Solutions Podcast that Pan got their Detail Co line direct from the chemist/blender for his product awards. It's been "fixed" now, but I got an early promo email from THOR that listed the same Omaha physical address that used to be associated with DIY Detail, and they use the same 3PL warehouse. Combine that with the closeness of Pan/Yvan/Eddie and DIY Detail's own explanation of their origins (a group of investors that wanted to develop a detailing line, brought on Yvan and then Yvan/Nick became part owners).
BTW this isn't a knock on the products or people at all. Business is business. I think DIY Detail, Clean by Pan and Detail Co. do in fact have unique formulations that are at least partially owned by them and created with their input, but there are at least some connections behind the scenes with chemists/blenders/investors/SEO/logistics etc. It doesn't seem to be a big stretch to imagine that they would want to create a diversified full line of products from low to mid price (Detail Co/DIY Detail) to prosumer (PTO and C6 Hydro Lite) and high end pro only (C6) with some TH-camrs as the faces of the different levels. Bringing in lesser known brands from other countries could be a way to diversify more as well.
That's my 2 cents, but I'm just a guy in my garage cleaning my own cars and a few of my friends/neighbors while trying to escape the stress of my real job.

Interesting video. I'm kind of glad I'm holding out on pans stuff for awhile to see reviews 6 months, a yr down the road . There are 2 main things, in my opinion, that detailers think about the most . No , it's not happy customers. They 99% of the time are going to be happy . Detailers see much more than a average customer ever will . It's cost , aka overhead, and speed . With that in mind the clean lineup is a little pricey compared to other products in the flooded detailing world . Just my opinion. Ty

His panel prep spray is also far better than a bunch of others I have used, but can't say it is the best. The 8 year coating is indeed really nice. It seems there is sooooo much to choose from and it can get a little overwhelming. I’ve seen tons of videos on P&S on how good they are and they seem very well priced compared to ones like Koch Chemie and CarPro etc. I’m just not sure if it’s really worth spending the money on larger name brands or find a brand like P&S or Adam’s or something like that and stick with them

The technology has progressed so far in the past few years that the top products have almost no difference between them. To many owners want some kind of instant simple way to get superb gloss and protection without any work. The best cure for higher gloss is to do a paint enhancement on your car even if it’s brand new you can’t coat a finish with swirls and hairline scratches from some kid at the dealers lot who was told to prep your new car. If you have a good finish any of the top products will do the job of giving you protection and enhancing gloss. Pan can say his products are the best in the world but time will show whether that’s true or not. What I’ve seen is that products that were the best in the world as little as two years ago are not even talked about online anymore because many of the newer products are just that much better. Any polish or sealant is a compromise between gloss durability and hydrosvopic properties. If you improve one quality it’s usually at the expense of the others.

I'd also like to add (and I realize that I'm painting with a very large brush) - that one of the big problems I have with a lot of the newer ceramic sprays is their lack of filling and darkening (you call it jetting, which I've never heard but I'm glad that there's a term). The chemical resistance wars are, in technical terms, "majorly stupid". Sure, it correlates with real world durability to some degree, but it is not the whole picture of what a good sealant should do. They're supposed to make the car look good and protect it to some degree with hydrophobicity and slickness (and some of the more durable coatings lack in slickness). Keeping in mind how thin modern paint is, and who the actual buying public is at big box stores (who don't polish their cars) - filling and darkening are going to make a huge difference in how your car actually looks. People crap on Meguiar's blue hybrid ceramic spray wax because it doesn't last 6 months, but if you actually use it - it looks amazing. Better than Griot's 3-in-1 in my opinion, and it has insane hydrophobics. I get 2-3 months in the real world parking outside. I can easily keep it topped off for longer with a good drying aid. Spraying it on ~4 times a year is something I can handle. The super long durability claims can also lull people into thinking that it's some magic shield that protects the car from everything - etching, keeping contaminants off, etc. You still have to clean the car often.

Pan the Plagiariser was an amusing name I often came across on Forums. The nail in the coffin was when Pan looked at Beadmaker and his way over the top reaction combined with terrible acting ability was ridiculous. Viewers were supposed to believe it was so slick etc that he had to walk away to compose himself! Anyone who has used Beadmaker knows it’s an average product, not bad but not the “game changer” we had forced down our throats. So obviously not an unbiased, honest review.
