    Likely the best how-to video I have ever watched. Easy to follow with your oversized instructions. I learn more from TH-cam than I do from manufacturers' sites. In case you read comments I have what appears to be a serious problem to which you may have a quick solution. My Windows 10 (DELL) will not shut down. I have to shut it down with a force shut-down. When I turn it on it tells me it is trying to install updates. The same result every time (over two months now) "cannot install updates, returning PC to its previous configuration" not exact quote. This takes about 12 minutes. As far as I can tell I have lost no functionality. I have tried all the options in the Security and Update menu and never get past the "start now." The machine immediately returns the note "cannot reset this PC." I am willing to go deep in to the reset process but am blocked at an early stage. I am not a techie but will try rebuilding the machine including all programs if I can just get it clean. Any tips? Again, great video.

      Thanks for your kind words. As for your issue, sounds like your Windows updates maybe corrupted or damaged. You can try deleting the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, however it requires stopping the update service which you can do from an elevated CMD prompt with "Net stop wuauserv" without the quotes. After deleting the folder, you can do "Net start wuauserv" to restart it and that recreates the folder. See how that goes.

    Hi what is the difference between reinstalling windows 10 through “Reset this PC” option in the settings and reinstalling by booting from a USB and installing that way? Is one way better or healthier than the other? Thanks

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good question maybe worth making a video about. using a bootable disk can be better knowing it's not compromised or infected. Depending on your reason for resetting the PC to begin with. if virus infected, or hacked, I'd use a bootable disk. I wouldn't trust the built in tool.

    I have a desktop computer that has started giving me the blue screen of death. However, it does not complete the 'collecting of some error info' and provides me with the following Stop code: WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.
    How do I reinstall Windows 10 on it without buying a new Windows-10-Key?

    • @TwinBytesInc

      You don't need to buy a new key or license. the hardware remembers the Windows. Just use any DVD or bootable USB stick to reinstall Windows. Just make sure you use the same Windows, like if it's Home, don't use Pro or it won't activate.

    How do you change the storage location fro windows 10 ?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not an easy answer. You'd have to basically reinstall Windows on another larger drive, or clone it to another drive which moves everything including programs and data. At that rate, you could just buy a bigger drive to clone it to.
      Aside from moving Windows, there a bunch of programs you can move and default storage locations I have videos on how to do.

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's been a while since I played with dual boot, but they should be on two separate partitions so reinstalling one shouldn't affect the other. But if the boot partition gets reset, that might remove the dual boot info and it won't know how to boot to Ubuntu again.

    • @TwinBytesInc

      Depending what option you choose, it will give you the choice to keep your files, but always deletes programs.
      If you upgraded all those components, it's like a new computer and Windows might give you a hard time about activation but crashing can be a number of issues that needs more troubleshooting. Even though new parts, doesn't mean it is not potentially faulty. Sorry can't help here, in this case.

      Excellent question. That means when you sign in to sync, it will pull the information from your old device where the data is synced. Basically the information is stored in the cloud before you reinstalled windows. So if this computer was syncing before you reinstalled Windows, when you sign in to sync, it will download it and continue syncing again.

    • @TwinBytesInc

      Unfortunately it has to remove all programs regardless of what option you choose. Factory reset means whatever programs were installed from the factory are included, which will be trial versions of possibly a different version of the software you currently have, if any software at all. I would say, don't count on any software being saved.

    I didn't like the way that Microsoft forced me to use an MS account on my new computer. I watched the whole video, then attempted the reinstall. When I get to 6:45 in the video, my screen does NOT have the option for OFFLINE ACCOUNT. Thoughts? Maybe the new version of Win10 does not allow it anymore.

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Using the reinstall method using the same account you already have. So if you were already signed in using a Microsoft account, it will keep it that way. For me, I was using a local account but Microsoft pushes to switch to using a Microsoft account. One trick is when doing a fresh install, don't connect a cable and don't connect to your WiFi during setup, it will prompt you several times asking to connect to the Internet. Just keep choose No, you don't have internet. Then it will allow you to setup a local account.
      I think this is a good prompt for me to create a video on how to switch from Microsoft to a local account.

      Hi Muhammad. If you tried several Malware removal tools, etc and it's not working, that might not be a virus anymore, but just a damaged system that could be the result of a virus or the result of some failed update or dying hard drive. Who knows. Reinstalling Windows will fix it but that is an extreme fix. It's cheaper to do that than pay someone to troubleshoot. Maybe try Tweaking.com repair tool which is also free.

Should i clean install win 10 or install by clicking that " keep my files " ? I have games in my steam . And 1 cracked game in my lap. I think that's why my lap slowdowns randomly. Should i backup that games files to cloud storage or leave it there ? Iam crying 😭😞

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. If you suspect a virus, definitely there is a small possibility that the virus has infected the installation files as well which could mean that the virus will reinstall itself along with the install of Windows.
      I would recommend to use a bootable USB or CD/DVD to install Windows with. First backup all your data including game files either to a USB drive or cloud storage. Using the bootable install, delete the Windows partition and do a fresh install of Windows. Make sure you get all Windows updates installed and a good anti-virus before loading your files back.
      Also don't use cracked games. It saves you money, but it creates these kind of problems too.
      if you follow my advice above, you won't lose anything once reloaded except you need to purchase properly licensed games.

      @TwinBytesInc  ปีที่แล้ว

      You may have some driver issues not to mention RAM and CPU compatibility by changing the motherboard. If you are looking for a performance boost, replacing the motherboard is not ideal at all. Reinstalling Windows, yes. But maybe adding more RAM and upgrading to a faster SSD drive. Maybe even upgrade CPU if possible. if the motherboard is that old that it can't handle the fastest RAM and CPU you want, then you are basically looking at a whole new computer.

      it could mean a bad hard drive that needs replacing, or you just need to use a bootable USB or DVD.

    If I try to reset my PC, and want to keep my files, what happens to my Program Files (x86) and Program Data? Will I keep them or will they be deleted?

    • @TwinBytesInc

      Those files would be deleted. So if you have Google Chrome profile to backup or Game data for example, it might be a good idea to backup certain folders in Program Data folder and in your %userprofile%\AppData\Local

    What if you cant get into settings?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you can't get into settings to begin the process, you could trying running SFC /Scannow command from admin level CMD prompt, then try again. If that doesn't help, you will have to use a bootable USD or DVD to reinstall Windows from.

    thanks for your clear instruction! would it help to resolve DPC Watchdog Violation error I'm getting?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might help if the problem is in the operating system but that's a drastic fix. If the issue is the hard drive it won't help. I would recommend testing your hard drive health first, and run SFC /SCANNOW as a PowerShell Administrator.

    My desktop always says undoing changes during the process 😪😭

      @TwinBytesInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment, there must ben an issue with the physical hard drive that is causing this to happen. You may have to test the hard drive health and potentially purchase a new drive to do a fresh install with.

    I just reinstalled windows 10, but all my apps like steam and discord are gone.... Do i have to reinstall them like I would normally? Also how do i get all other vital programs like Microsoft redistributable back?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is normal. Yes you would have to reinstall the programs and things like MS Redistributable would install along with the the programs that require them automatically.

      Does this mean that reseting my PC with the option "Keep my files" will still have the Microsoft Word on the PC?
      Does this applies also for the option "Remove everything"?

    • @Yubnub_dunduY

      @@renetruden7156Probably not as that is an "application". Data is things like photos, videos etc.
      Think about when you "uninstall a program" through control panel.... Those "apps" are all uninstalled.
      You can copy anything u like ofcourse onto a USB for example but apps need to be "reinstalled" because they edit Windows files.
