My father was the Police Inspector and later the ACP who was involved in the Indian Mujahideen cases in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He was the one who went to Supreme Court to file the case on government's behalf to declare Indian Mujahideen a terrorist organization before it became a very big name. Proud of him!

First class interview… the words ‘the ignorance of law is no excuse - that is the legal maxim’ captures the entire raw hooliganism succinctly and in a nutshell. Perpetrators may not know the exact law but when they commit a crime their gut feel cautions them. In their urgency and urge they choose to ignore the inner voices.

Thank you Smitha ji andSinha ji.I still staunchly feel that he was to be continued in the posr still five years so thar the criminals could be necked in behind the bars.Modi wisely brought him back in by creating a new post which act is terrorising political criminals.God bless him with a big health and strength.

It is so heartening to hear from an outstanding police officer. Bharat is fortunate to have people like him. He is a role model for others. Hopefully he is called upon to address new recruits. He set right many erroneous perceptions and insights into the cases discussed.
It is clear Bharat’s judicial system is a mess and progresses at a bullock cart pace in the space age. It is an embarrassment. The judiciary is the third pillar of a Democracy. What is the judiciary doing to clean house?
It is unfortunate Smita perpetuated the myth that the juvenile in the Nirbhaya case was the most vicious. He should have been tried as an adult. That is a judicial issue. Other than Nirbhaya was subjected to inhuman treatment, only those in the bus knew who did what. In the podcast with IPS Chaya Sharma who cracked the case, she set the record straight. IPS Chaya Sharma is another stalwart that Bharat is fortunate to have.
In that respect a number of outstanding people have been featured in Smita’s podcasts. They constitute a Club of heroes.
This system of bureaucrats being compelled to suck up to their politicians has to stop. Both are servants of the people. The politician has the right to select and appoint his/her team. However, it should be conditional. At the same time people should have a say in who they wish working for them. But that doesn’t mean they can be coerced to break the law. The public should use RTI to question questionable actions.

    • @livelikeamonk3161
      @livelikeamonk3161 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@bamar200 One should know how these investigations happen. This kind of activity will be a very secretive one. They will not involve big team to surround the building. And Muslim dominated areas are not safe to surround either. They have a unity when it comes to terrorism. The team had to do this without letting others in the community know about it. Only few highly trust worthy people make a team to do this job. There can be information leak if many people are involved. You don’t know who will be compromised person within the department. Only few brave hearts who love their country more than their life make a team. The soldiers and few officers like this gentleman are the once who protect us. And Sonia Gandhi cries for terrorists to get some Muslim vote.

    Smita ji,
Crime in New York - in Jimmy Carter time - came down.
    Reason
2 decades ago, abortion was allowed in USA thru a court judgment.
Earlier, abortion was banned in USA.
Lots of unwanted kids were born - unwed mother abandoned child after birth - these kids grew up in camps - hostile environment - went thru child abuse - turned criminals.
Once abortion was made legal, lots of these unwanted kids could be aborted. This led to reduction in crime two decades later.

There is always this conflict between transparency and confidentiality. If he is not transparent about the systems, there are chances the common people would never know what really goes on, and we are always kept in the dark. If they are too transparent, then they could risk divulging classified information which could in turn help terrorists. I think we need to strike a balance between the two. On one hand the media and oppostion keep blaming that ED is being used as a weapon by the govt. and on the other hand people say, we dont want to know the internal workings duet to threat to national security.

Smita, great interviews . But I was absolutely shocked for you to brand the 'Bull Dozing' as 'Extra Judicial' . Based on previous interview with Yogi in your podcast, a lot of these properties were already identified as having been illegal and the UP police has already received permissions for removal of such illegal structures. When any riots and violent incidents happen , these 'approved legal judgements' from courts are implemented . Also from my understanding , only 35 % belongs to specific minority communities but you only talk of such cases, giving a completely communal angle when it is not the truth.
If these are extra judicial , how many times have the Courts reprimanded the Yogi Govt for such measures ?

    1. Lots of details about modus operandi of investigation are being away by the Karnal Singh ji. It may sound very interesting to hear but it may not suitable for public discussion. 2. The impression one gets is that Police in India are totally helpless and have to work against all sorts of odds! If this is the story of Special Cell of Delhi Police, then one can imagine how compromised our Police could be at other places. 3. Role of media in creating troubles and doing motivated reporting is well known. We must find a way to deal with this anti national media. 4. Role of judiciary also makes a sad reading. 5. Some of his replies are wishy washy like why extradition does not take place from UK?

    Smita,
Please don't ask question as if they are innocuous and tempt people to spill security operations/methods. You are only making criminals smarter & wiser.
These speakers talk more than they should as it's their glorious moment, but cause inglorious times for the nation.
    Regards.

Why should these secrets be known in such detail? It would put the officer's life at risk, and the modus operandi of our police and intelligence gets public awareness.... Should we not exercise more discretion till the problem is completely fixed at least?

The interviewer needs to stop interrupting the guests. She stymies the flow of the conversation. Otherwise, I admire her knowledge and the questions that she asks.
