I made a toile this weekend for the Style Src Francesca and I actually really enjoyed the process! Big basting stitches, only one arm, no finishing of seams- it was fabulous! The rolled hem foot is still so scary to me. I can’t even keep it going well when I’m on the raw edge, let alone a seam 😬 I’ll get there though!
I am still not a big fan of hand sewing. All four of my granddaughters’ Easter dresses have a bodice lining that has to be hand slip stitched. I just do it while watching TV. My goals? I would like to make a pair of pants with a waist band instead of elastic and I found a McCalls pattern for a faux fur jacket/coat that I want to try. Have fun on vacation!!
I was afraid of buttons, so I made a men's Hawaiian style shirt and a button front skirt. They look good enough to wear in public. 😂 Next on the list of sewing fears: Zippers 😬
I hold my breath the whole time I'm doing a button hole. My machine is really good at them, but I'm always just so scared because it can ruin the fabric so badly so fast! With zippers I've found it's just really important that I take my time and do allllll of the basting and everything to have a neatly places zipper. Any time I try to rush it, it's a wreck. Great video! My goal for this year was to get back to sewing after a very long gap (20+ years). I've found it harder than expected but I'm getting there so goal ongoing. I also have a wish to make a bag so you are inspiring me on that one. Thank you

I feel like there's just SO many aspects to sewing that it would be challenging to get back on the horse after a gap. I highly recommend that Noodlehead Making backpack! I can't think of any real goals of my own, probably to just be more thoughtful when buying fabric. I'm trying to at least buy less than I sew, so cumulatively I should end up with less fabric at the end of the year than I started with. I actually have learned to like hand sewing for the most part. It is relaxing and mostly done at the end of making a garment, so I look at it as a personal finishing touch. Goals: to finish my nieces quilt as her wedding gift in July and making more bags, such as the Noodlehead backpack bag I won from you! Have a great vacation.

The fact that it's a machine embroidery quilt is so cool! A lot of people are very into gray these days. Also not my decorating style, but I can see why she'd love it! The embroidery itself will really shine.
I'm finding more joy in the hand sewn finishes, and they do look SO good. I get so antsy at the end of the project and want to see it done, but it's so much more pleasing to see a beautifully finished garment.

Hey Diann! I actually OPTED to hand sew something on my latest make. The pattern wanted me to stitch in the ditch but I'm so awful at it and always miss half the waistband facing. I'm not about to make anything totally by hand, but it was nice to feel like I'm making progress on my goal. 😊

Hey Erin, What have I done so far that I said I wanted to do 🤔 Two ‘make 9’ done so far and half of the third which is like done by the end of the month cause it’s winter here. I’ve started the monthly makes - and ready to do my second one now April is here I’ve done my sew yellow and frugal for March And I’m doing a Tuesday tutorial- missed two for good reason. Planning a patron … might make it there by December 🤔 I’m leaving my kids at home (they are 17) alone while Mr Christopher and I head north for 4 days. Still have two or three coats I’d like to make. Finish my quilt (2nd ever not a quilter like you) All my other make 9’s. Bugger have we reached April 🫣😳 Enjoy your holiday. Awesome for Dizzy Quilts to shout out for you!
