According to the line drawings, I also thought the pattern had a skirt. I totally love the set, but I would also like to wear them as separates. I am ready to make some body shirts this year. I am also not that big a fan of skirts.

I like the 90s vibe, though I was WAY past elementary school by that time - working, studying and raising babies if I recall!. Excellent waist band choice - business in the front and party at the back. I am going to try and do that on my next gathered skirt. Sensei is clever and so are you! 🦤🦤

I think I feel a little juvenile in gathered skirts? I can vividly picture one that I wore a ton in middle school so maybe that’s my issue with them. This one isn’t awful though. Thank you for commenting Lori! It’s always fun to see your comments 🤗
Honestly, I really like the matching set! Maybe it’s because I was a corporate trainer in the 90s 😂 I can’t wait to see what you do with the dress! Now off to watch Stacey’s video! Xx
You were teaching the really big kids! I’m going to bring the set with me when we go to Europe next week and play around with some different styling. I think the print of the fabric will feel more appropriate in cooler weather 🧣

Hi there, I rather liked your outfit, yes tighten the elastic and I think it will look more like a dress, make a couple more waist coat tops to go with it also, but yes sometimes we're not always happy with our makes. Just think of Stacey j and her Collab with the Yorkshire sew girl, she was terribly disappointed 😢and sew much work went into it. Very true about our makes not always being what we imagined. I’m glad I tried it though. I think I’m just not a skirt gal. Thankfully the fabric was cheap as chips. I’ll keep playing around with it but yeah, maybe skirts just aren’t my thing.

I love the look, it does look like office wear a little so not something I’d wear casually but I’d definitely wear it to work. It might be the fabric specifically that gives that vibe. This pattern pack does seem very versatile!
I agree! I think the fabric also felt weird to be wearing in the hot weather because it feels very academic and cozy? I’m going to wear it when I travel to chillier weather next week (with layers underneath) and see how I feel about it then. The pattern pack has been even more impressive than I imagined!

Very nice! I love a nice gathered skirt, but I am coming to the same conclusion you are that I don't really reach for them all that much. I'm wondering if it might be the type of skirt, so I'll maybe try out a couple of different styles before I make a firm decision! It does seem harder to come up with a top, while the dress is all together there and ready to go! I certainly enjoyed the video and I hope the rest of your week has some happy sewing, too!
After comparing my pattern collection to those that I have for my toddler….I think the issue is that gathered skirts feel too juvenile? I vividly remember wearing them a lot in middle school. Plus the styling is just harder. I’m open to skirts still….but I’m not jumping to make another any time soon

I was an elementary school teacher from the late 70’s on, sooo…I’m pretty comfortable with the look.😉 I liked the vest & skirt together, but thought maybe it needed a blouse of some kind beneath the vest.🧐How would the skirt look with a tan, red or cranberry colored top? Just a random thought.

I’ll keep playing around with it. I have a white mock neck bodysuit that I’m going to wear with it in cooler weather but I LOVE the idea of red or cranberry!
