Very true- FaceTime is the best and the two weeks will fly by! Plus I know she’ll have a ball with her grandparents.
I traced out the Vogue barrel leg pants yesterday and I’m hoping to get going on a toile in the next few days 🤗😬

Yes! I’m really excited for the challenge of both projects. I’ve been making Brady a ton of easy little knit projects so something a bit more challenging will be fun for my brain

I really like the neckline! It was at a better position when it was the Mandy tee, but I hated everything else about that one. Apparently I’m very picky 😂

Hi Erin. Another great video. I love the top….i find so many that a close fitting neckline chokes me too…..So annoying. Love the jumpsuit. You do look so put together. Looking forward to your trip.

The neckline didn’t bother me *too* much yesterday, but I do think I’ll end up opening it up a bit. It felt like too much fabric was sitting on my chest.
Thank you Diann! I’m looking forward to my French Terry version of the jumpsuit. I think it’ll be really cozy

Hi Erin, I found the boatneck of the terra tunic by love notions also felt like it was pulling back when I made it. I then noticed that other garments the neckline was raising up during wear (even scoop), and I realised that i need to do a forward shoulder adjustment and it was the high neckline of a boatneck that drew my attention to the issue. It’s a super easy pattern alteration. I love your makes too. When you were talking at the end with a little concern for not having enough fabric for the pockets I thought I would pass on what I do (you might already do this) I cut the pocket bags out of left over fabric from another project and then I make a pocket facing out of the main fabric and top stitch/ appliqué it onto the main pocket bag so it looks like I’ve used main fabric. I have seen this as part of a patterns for jeans but really easy to make your own facing by placing pocket bag in position behind front pants piece tracing the slant onto pocket bag then just trace the bag with about 1.5” in from the slant. Gosh I hope that makes sense and is helpful and not telling you something that you already have thought about.❤ Have an amazing holiday and pack warm waterproof clothes cos the weather is no great on this side of the Atlantic 👍🏻

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

Ooooo interesting. I’ll have to start paying more attention to the fit of my shirts and see if I also need to adjust the shoulder.
The explanation of making a facing made sense! Thank you for taking the time to type all of that out. It’ll definitely help stretch the fabric is I’m a little short. I figured I’ll also use some quilting cotton scraps to do the waistband facing but hadn’t thought too much about playing around with the pockets. Thank you!
I’m going to need a lot of layers it sounds like 😬⛄️ My cold weather wardrobe is seriously lacking

Hi Erin. I couldn’t get the Mandy to fit at all but Jalie has a free t with similar style lines that I found after frugal month. It is a much better T with much more size range. Highly recommend this Jalie pattern.

The Mandy is definitely a funky fit. It might be right for someone but quite a few people chimed in when I made the t shirt video saying they didn’t like it either.

You would have made all those things for Brady whether or not you were going away, so to me it's not guilt, it's love that's the impetus. All the thought required to get the look of the cartoon characters is really challenging but fun, too! Joann has a new line of inexpensive craft fabrics and maybe that would work for the fleece, if you look online. Your jumpsuit looks so cute and comfortable!

You make a great point! She had me busy yesterday cutting more nightgowns and it made me so happy watching her pick out the fabric she wanted 😍
I’m excited for the challenge of the costumes! Thank you for the tip- I checked out that happy line (I think that’s what it’s called?) of inexpensive fabric at Joann’s and was able to find the right colors in some of the craft felt. It definitely saved me some cash. The fleece colors were harder to find for the main bodies, and I ended up having to go with the standard lines of it, but they were on sale. Of course lol.

I don’t either and I’ve found that most things can be done well on a home sewing machine and serger. Factories have a lot of speciality machines that go REALLY fast and the workers become experts at one or two jobs. We can do it all in our own homes! 💪🏻

I think what you hate about the Mandy is what I like haha. I've made the Hemlock Tee, which I love, a few times which is the same shape and have wanted to get the Mandy for a long time to have that neck.
One of the girls finally wants to be something scary for Halloween! 😁 I was losing hope haha. You should check out Style Arc's new onsie pattern, very adaptable to different costumes. I used fleece for Daphne's Daphne-dil. Now I'm humming Bluey's theme song. Again. Forever after.... 😆

Yayyy!! Who wants to be scary? Send pictures when you’ve crafted your masterpiece.
I like the idea of the onesie costume. Peek a boo patterns has something similar. One or the other will be worth picking up during a sale at some point.

I caved recently after a case of FOMO and got myself a Squishmallow. 😬 The population in Daphne's room especially is a little scary, and I was trying to convince myself that they're not for grown-ups..... Have a great weekend! 😘

Hi Erin! Those costumes will be adorable. I think Joann’s usually has a large selection of solids in their fleece. May not be the best quality but will work well for Halloween costumes and is often on sale. I’m so excited for you and Adam’s trip! Can’t wait to hear all about it! As far as sizing, I don’t know about the stamp ink, but it does make sense that different types of fabric may require different inks to be permanent. Have you thought about a Cricut machine and HTV? I could make you up a few and send them to you to try. I’m hoping to put the finishes touches on my Timbre today, and then I may make up my last Lenox. We move our daughter and SIL to WI next weekend and then are staying there for a while to vacation. I totally understand your secret guilt for leaving your daughter, but she will have the best time with Grandparents! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I think Brady and I are going to have to make the trek to Joann’s (about an hour one way) to look at the fleece. I’m tempted by how cheap the options are that I’ve found online, but I NEED to see the colors!
I looked into Cricuts a little bit after you mentioned it as an option to made her undies more fun, but got a little overwhelmed by all of it 😬 I couldn’t even figure out what I actually *need*. I would be so thankful if you have time to make up a few little size labels for me to try! I think it would be great to have a cricut but am just kind of overwhelmed with where to start.
Ah yes! The big trip north! I hope it all goes smoothly and you enjoy your extra vacation time after the hard work is done 🤗 Send pictures of your Timbre if you were able to finish it!
