  • The Lenovo Legion Play is a handheld that leaked all the way back in 2021. Prototypes of this forgotten handheld started to pop up on the used market this week, and I bought one for this video.

Wait... you're in China???? How are you able to access the 'real' internet? I'm pretty sure you just use a VPN, but I never understood exactly how that work... (like I know how a VPN work but couldn't China just block the access to the VPN??? idk... nvm this is totally off topic lol) OR are you in Taiwan and 'have to' say you're a part of China? (Or as we like to say call the mainland: Western Taiwan :P )
Or am I totally wrong and you just misspoke?
You clearly grew up in the States because you have ZERO accent at all, and so I just assumed that where you were. I always thought you're name was Japanese, so now I am SUPER CONFUSED... "Confuzzled" ....if you will. :D lol

    • @SweBeach2023
      @SweBeach2023 ปีที่แล้ว +11

With the hardware being identical it seems like the most likely explanation, but with one caveat. If Tencent designed both the hardware and software, which seems likely considering button placement, screen size etc, why did they make both a Lenovo and aa Logitech model as compared to a generic one for the two companies to consider and only once a choice had been made a final product were to be made.

That device you shown that "looked" different was just a change in shell and buttons. The layout is exactly the same so they most likely upgraded on the on the board a bit as in the cpu and possible button quality.
This thing... Feels like a kinda device that is designed to be the foundation any company can build on to. A meet half way device. So even Xbox if they wanted to could get some made, brand it, alter the aesthetics, and Call it the Xbox Series Companion for $250 with some exclusive apps to make it more unique. I expect more of these to slither out of the market with various brands but the layout will make it hella obvious.

I KNEW IT!!!! @ 16:24 AS SOON AS you said that the screen says 'this is a game streaming device' it ALL CLICKED!!! This was made by a Chinese company that marketed it to Lenovo, and this was the pre-production model that was shown off before Lenovo fully pulled the trigger on the launch... but Lenovo SCRAPPED IT!!! And when you said that it had the same interface as the Logitech thing my theory was confirmed. And so we KNOW that TenCent was the company behind all of this now too. you said there was a TenCent App icon on there too. And didn't Logitech release there's in conjunction with TenCent? So this was probably marketed around to different companies to put their name on it and allow TenCent to step into the American market, because they KNEW they could NEVER do it on their own. Not just because of the market no knowing TenCent very well, but because the US Government probably wouldn't allow it!! HAHAHA!!!!
So TenCent needed a recognized American name (and maybe even money) to make this happen and YOU have the Lenovo cancelled version of this scheme. AMAZING!!!!!
    - - - Mind you, I'm just speculating ALL of this, but it seems very likely this is the case!!! HAHA!!!! This thing is SUPER COOL!!!! - Okay I paused the video as you were showing that app, so you may have some more info that disproved my theory and I could be TOTALLY WRONG. LMAO! But I just LOVE little things like this... products that never were, or versions that never materialized. It's a piece of history that hardly ANYONE knows about, until YOU brought it to light!! HAHAHA!!! I hope Lenovo (or TenCent) doesn't give a hoot about this... but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT they will anyway :)

This device was cancelled because data that showed it would perform poorly, and even worse with competitors entering the market at the same time. As the Logitech G cloud did as well. It was an easy development cycle, since tencent had already built the software to license to multiple brands. Hence why so many models had already entered production in anticipation they would go in presentations/storefronts as demos.

On all Android "tablets", the menus are on the left and the expanded options on the right. Not exclusive to Switch lol. They just changed the Font, names and the overall theme. If you use TH-cam for example, that runs the Android TV version on Switch, because it can't really read it as an Android tablet (due to how closed the OS is made) so it runs as the TV version does, lightweight and very limited which does not require a lot of permissions.

If it was marketed as the Lenovo Legion Pro Android gaming tab, instead of a Logitech G-Cloud for AAA cloud streaming, made by the company that does gaming peripherals, it'd settled better with the market. There is far more interest in dedicated devices for native Android games and emulation over streaming.

Lenovo has brought products to market that were designed by other companies in the past, like designs by Intel, specifically that Android tablet with the attached graphic tablet with the touch keyboard. Intel had basically prototyped the entire thing and Lenovo picked it up. So it's in their wheel house. Likely tencent had the prototype and Lenovo did a lot of the testing but didn't want to commit so tencent just looked for someone else to make it 💁🏼

Huge lenovo legion fan. This was an insane find for $160. Still dont own a personal handheld myself but OLED is a must so the steam deck is out of the question. And aya neo is too much

The new Razer Edge has a AMOLED display and a way better chip set than this Lenovo prototype. It is only $400.

@@duvalmadman I guess if AMOLED is that important. The difference in capability between a $400 Deck & $400 android, I'd pick capability over the Deck at that price point.
To me OLED burn in isn't worth it, too much ewaste. I let it slide in phones because that is what it is, for now, and I still got 5 years, my old S7. Value QD OLED are too far off.
I'd be looking at Aya Neo, GPD Win 4, Onexplayer for a screen upgrade, if it was that important to me. One of those is so good, doesn't matter it isn't OLED. The next version of the Steam Deck will have better screen and battery, though not performance.
For $400, I'd way rather have that 800p Deck PC functionality, than more limited android.
Of course, my phone is SD 888 with a 4k 21:9 OLED, which gives me very particular demands in an android handheld.
That's another reason for why I'm looking for a real value proposition in the android handheld, because I don't want to risk my expensive phone.
With AetherSX2 caput, I'm concerned about PS2 future on android, as well.
