Quintessential Police song & video. As you said, their signature, before the days when they transitioned to being out & out mainstream popstars.
They are just so effortlessly cool. Andy Summers with an Explorer. Ten out of ten. Sting's unique voice, genius songwriting and that beautiful fretless bass & Copeland laying down that driving infectious groove with all of his unique trademarks... the subtle flourishes & strong beats 2 & 4 in the verses.
What a band they were. So innovative in non-obvious ways.

Stewart did a lot of interesting things outside of The Police. Klark Kent (vids are on YT), Soundtracks like Rumble Fish (Don't Box Me In with Stan Ridgeway on voacls), and Animal Logic (with Stanley Clarke and Debra Holland).

Stewart Copeland’s “Don’t Box Me In” is reaction worthy 👌🏼

Bought this in 1978 on blue vinyl, thought it would be more 'punk'.

One of my favourite Police songs.
The guy in the lyrics could easily be the same one in Every Breath You Take, just a little later XD
And yes, since he was on Drumeo, we get a lot of Copeland's videos suggested

Stewart Copeland wrote the TV theme music to The Equaliser.

Funnily enough I was thinking about that very fact earlier today - the original mid-80s series starring Edward Woodward.

If you love Stewart Copeland’s drumming style, you HAVE TO react to “One World (Not Three)” I consider it his greatest Police drum performance

Now do a reaction video to Feeder's cover of this on Later... with Jools Holland. Great choice.

Hey you should check out Bleach by Palace. Palace is the best alternative rock band out right now and they dropped an amazing album last year. Their music sounds like if U2 and Jeff Buckley made music together. Beautiful stuff you should hear

The sweet music of my youth back on your channel again! I was going to say you're spoiling us but you might be spoiling yourself too. I loved the Police when this came out, even being extra excited that their singles often came on coloured vinyl- I think this one is blue but can't be arsed digging about under the bed to check...
Police were an important band for me when growing up as they were the first band I ever loved but began to like less and less as the years went by. First two albums are wonderful. Third one is okay and after that I lost interest. Which was disappointing enough but nothing compared to when U2 decided to disappear up their own collective arsehole and slowly become ever more dull and pompous.
Being this old has some very real advantages but I don't often wish I was a younger. Except when I realise I still remember when U2 were actually good - within my living memory - and with the potential for great music for years to come. Then I was given "The Unforgettable Fire" as a birthday present (I think I was my 15th but it might have been my 16th). It was okay. Acceptable from most bands but a dip in quality for my beloved U2. After the "Joshua Tree" album came out I realised it was over. We had grown apart and I no longer loved them. I had never felt so betrayed but, of course, I was being a melodramatic teenage twat. And hadn't yet had a proper girlfriend, let alone been dumped.
I'm starting to wonder if you shouldn't be charging me therapist fees for posting in your comments section Nick. I'm almost certain I did have an actual point to make when I started typing this screed but I'm even more certain I haven't made it...
Anyway, I enjoyed the video as usual and even feel a bit better for commenting. The cheque is in the post.
