6:38 Harold Lloyd is the precise look aimed by Thomas Dolby, hence the glasses and the white costume.
Suggestion for another Thomas Dolby Song : "May The Cube Be With You" and its instrumental version "Googooplexus" where TD is talking with George Clinton (yup, Dr Funkenstein himself) about the structure of the song , then starting it with the barebones demo, and finally sliding into the real thing.
Oh, and if you're looking for groovy bangers I also recommend "Hot sauce" and "Pulp Culture" and its cricket slap bass.

Scientist Magnus Pike was always on British telly back in the day. Dolby's second album, "The Flat Earth" was the first "alternative" album I ever heard. Still a wonderful piece of work.

Dolby had more than a few hits - 'Windpower', 'Hyperactive', 'Airhead' and 'Close But No Cigar' come to me off the top of my head.
And on the subject of head tops, he recently had a hair transplant that he proudly showed on social media including TH-cam!

You should check out his song "One of Our Submarines", it was from around the same time period but it was released before the album and was my first exposure to Thomas Dolby... a great, moody synth track.

There was another single, 'Hyperactive' which I think he wrote for Michael Jackson or something, and released it himself when it wasn't accepted.

Seems this guy invented some sort of synth that was used to play the ringtones on Nokia phones and made Megabucks

Thomas Dolby's "The Flat Earth" is one of those albums I would pick for a desert island. This was somewhat of a novelty song on MTV, but it's catchy as hell and a lot of fun. So many TD gems, "Astronauts and Heretics" album is also a gem. "Windpower", "Airwaves" and "I Scare Myself" are pretty great songs. Moody, less pop-y
