- The plaintiff says the defendant is her negligent landlord who she claims dragged his feet for 45 days before repairing a leak. Now all her furniture is ruined, so she’s suing for the cost. The defendant says his tenant was so difficult to deal with that he asked her to move out. He claims he never got proof anything was damaged.

Well, $30/hr full time is less than $60k/year and she is in NY. I am sure the section 8 threshold is different give where you live. I mean 58k/year in the DC area is barely making it.

I was expecting a beautiful antique dresser that was made back when there was pride in workmanship.....then she shows a picture of ugly cheap discount furniture. The only amazing thing is that it hasn't fallen apart yet. She makes $30 an hour, gets Section 8 benefits, and keeps suing the landlord with exaggerated claims.
Legally, he can give her 30 days notice & refuse to renew her lease. But I understand why he's not. First thing she'll do is sue for discrimination. Meanwhile, he won't get any more money from the govt & she will probably refuse to leave, so then he'll have to start eviction proceedings, which are long, tedious, & costly...in addition to defending himself from her crazy lawsuits. After a year or so of not receiving anything for rent & spending tons of time & money in court, she'll finally be evicted & then he gets to foot the bill for cleaning & repairs, then try to find a new tenant who's not a grifter like her. She's got him either way. He's simply choosing the lesser of 2 evils. He basically said at the end that he's got to put up with her until one of them dies. He knows he's screwed. Poor guy.

I work in Medicare insurance, and ALOT of beneficiaries get their part B paid by Medicaid $170.10, most of 1's as asking to get their part B back in a plan are 1's that don't pay it in 1st place. I think MEDICAID is GREAT 4 Medicare folks, and others, but y do u want something back u don't even pay out of pocket lol

As someone that’s looking into applying for Section 8 under disability, I would feel BLESSED to have a landlord that’s willing to respond to complaints and allow me to continue living there (especially if I had previously sued them for “lack of sufficient notice” and won). She had documents and facts for her complaints. Judge didn't want to hear it. Kept cutting her off. The leak wasn't fixed completely from the first incident and created more damage. That's why they changed her unit. Landlord's don't like to spend money on repairs.

Having worked in multifamily housing the past 25 years, around 80% of the housing communities are requiring proof of renters insurance with a minimum liability amount . It actually lowers the landlord insurance costs when all the residents carry renters insurance . No renters insurance. No lease.

Section 8 is when the Government pays a large portion of your rent because you're poor. This woman does NOT look very poor to me. Her teeth are in perfect order, she's wearing nice jewelry, dressed nicely and talks about her expensive flower garden, etc....She must be working the system.

The tape of this episode needs to be submitted to the housing department for Section 8 in her city. Section 8 (taxpayers) is getting screwed and the landlord is an accomplice to her scam.

He's not gonna evict her because he receives housing for her which might be way more for the year then the lil petty money she's suing for... Housing might be paying him 20grand a year depending the city
And he knows it's guaranteed rent each month- he doesn't have to wonder if this tenant will pay this month or next month - so he will work with her a little.
