- Generative AI is quickly becoming the hot topic within the Virtual Production community. Tools such as WonderStudios, Midjourney, ChatGPT, OpenAI, Google Bard, and Stable Diffusion in conjunction with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) have changed the way that filmmakers are creating visuals for virtual productions.
Is AI the future of filmmaking? It’s definitely a powerful tool, and it’s here to stay.

AI in/outpaint and depth estimation allows this to happen right now with 2.5D for VP. Depth map temporal coherence needs another generation or two for it to more seamlessly go to full 3D but many shots dont move enough for 3D so as long as you are willing to work within that limitation temporarily, the tools exist to do this are available now.
The industry is doomed. If not it won't take long. Why will I watch a movie if I can make it myself and claim mine is better and everyone with a computer and Internet connection can claim the same ? ... Studios who already have a monopoly will start to have a diminishing market real soon ... I guess by 2025 no one will be hyped or excited for movies or art in general . I mean all we have to do is write a prompt it can't be compared with any tech revolution in the past because its just a prompt... You don't have to storyboard or even do a pencil stroke as who's the compare it with the best result of a super intelligent result which is far fast and better looking all we will be doing is who can train the AI better not gain or learn anything from it or anywhere else as the effort is getting minimalised... I AM A HOUDINI FX ARTIST WRITING THIS
It is definitely weird to see where AI will take us and how it will affect artists/tech in the years to come. We do hope that some sort of blend can happen, where AI is utilized in collaborative ways and does not take away from real people and their skills.
I am a 3D Envrio artist. Even if I don't lose my job, it's going to suck out all the fun out of it.
I find it hilarious that the barely able to do one thing guys are the biggest luddites of them all. Waah I get new tools to make my job more creative and less tedious waaah life is so hard.

Great video, agreed with your points on AI. CAD software didn't replace architects and structural engineers, it just made them way more efficient. AI will most likely do the same to the virtual production/XR space. Once we get to AGI that may be a different story but we've got a while to go till we get there.

It's a prompt... It's chaos... Just a prompt no effort needed ... Now the fight is who is good in English and can write prompts and edit it if the results are not satisfying enough. Keep writing prompts you are the writer director spot boy even the actor in your film ... Hell fuck it you will be the audience as well.... Why will you need a pipeline for 3d or VFX if the result comes only by writing a prompt... Fuck
Environment artists or unreal artists if being specific will be replaced if not today they will be in an year ... It's fucking generative learning black hole vacume.. it's gonna start generating even bigger and detailed environments in an year and as much effort you put in it's gonna replace you respectively.
