His clothing has never been tasteful IMO but look at people like Conor McGregor... They were smaller and had more subtle styling. 50's were more low profile and rounded edges with certain styling cues (fins, bullet lights etc etc). 60's were big engines in big beefy cars, 70's were low and long with sharper edges with a focus on comfort. 80's were generic boxes, 90's were bubbly blobs, naughts were bubbly with sharper edges, and between than and now theres been a huge push for eco friendly which results in the sharper edges mixed with the flowing lines... every decades' styling is dictated by what a consumer wants... back then they didnt give a fuck about fuel economy which is why cars like the Mustang exist... then they did and the Mustang II exists... Point is is that itll always come back around; in 30 years there'll be someone saying exactly what you're saying... "cars in 2040 are bland and generic.... I wish we had good cars like the 2019 CTS-V" "fashion back then actually had style, nowadays everything's just mass produced and cheap"... there'll be a girl crying about being born in the wrong generation while clutching a Taylor Swift CD... this has happened throughout history about everything imaginable. I never saw him live but he was on tv a lot when I was a kid. I had the same impression you did. That it was like a cartoon! So much so that I just assumed he was a character for kids, like Kermit the Frog. He was the epitome of the phrase “larger than life”. So fun to watch!

I went to the Liberace museum in Las Vegas. His cars were absolutely amazing. I don’t know if it’s changed, but they would not let anybody photograph anything because they were worried about the flash deteriorating his clothing over time. He was definitely a class act, humanitarian and one hell of a piano player. 🎹
Beautiful video. We now own the home, Las Vegas Villa, where the beginning of that video takes place, purchased it October, 2006. Liberace was a wonderful person, very generous, and a great humanitarian. I am so glad to see his legacy alive through You Tube!

I was too young to appreciate the talent this man had back in the day (I'm 44 now) I do remember him on television a few times and I too played piano but nothing close to his talent. I admire him and I'm going to his museum in April I can't wait.

And moreover, everyone seemed to know it except perhaps for the little old ladies that were his biggest fans. I can only speculate, but I really think that he when he sued for libel, he did so not to protect his own reputation, but rather to protect the sensibilities of those little old lady fans. He was a bit full of himself, but I think he really did love his fans.
Absolutely love and adore this man. I am so grateful my mother took me to see him in Vegas! I love piano:) His brother played violin and had a violin shaped pool built in his backyard... Which was the house next door to my aunt and uncle. His brother had long since moved but my cousin and I delighted in jumping the fence to swim in it:)
One of my great desires was to see Liberace perform in person. Unfortunately, just around the time I could have made that dream come true, he passed away. I'm so grateful for these TH-cam videos and the chance to see some of Lee's shows and showmanship.

I love his act. The classiest unclassy performance ever. Obviously a great musician but I love the way he would openly and unashamedly parade his extravagance for the whole world to see - but at the same time genuinly wanting to connect with his audience and give them a great night. Just a shame he couldn't be so open about his sexuality - but they were different times and wouldn't have been acceptable in his younger years and by the time it was acceptable; I guess he must've felt it was too late to unravel the lie. I was way too young to appreciate his performance back in the day, but thanks to TH-cam can now enjoy watching this hugely talented; warm and entertaining man !

When I was very young Lee's TV show played after the mornings Children's television shows. I found more entertainment watching Liberace Vs the kids shows when I was 5 years old.

I was bell ringing for the Salvation Army in the mid 90s or so during the Christmas fund raiser in Brookfield, WI., a near suburb of Milwaukee. We have a grocery store chain here called Pick n Save, and while I was ringing, a guy, looked like in his 60s, drove up in a Rolls to shop. If I recall correctly, it was a hunter green color, didn't get the model, but one of the standard models of the time.
He was a great pianist. Loved watching him play, it was MAGICAL ❤️. Plus, he was a kind and caring man from what his friends said❤️. Debbie Reynolds adored him❤️

I met him at Eaton's one time. He was autographing books during lunch in a restaurant at Eaton's. He was really nice when he chatted with me.

I went to the Liberace museum in Las Vegas. His cars were absolutely amazing. I don’t know if it’s changed, but they would not let anybody photograph anything because they were worried about the flash deteriorating his clothing over time. He was definitely a class act, humanitarian and one hell of a piano player. 🎹
Beautiful video. We now own the home, Las Vegas Villa, where the beginning of that video takes place, purchased it October, 2006. Liberace was a wonderful person, very generous, and a great humanitarian. I am so glad to see his legacy alive through You Tube!

I was too young to appreciate the talent this man had back in the day (I'm 44 now) I do remember him on television a few times and I too played piano but nothing close to his talent. I admire him and I'm going to his museum in April I can't wait.

Liberace was known to have sued for libel whenever a tabloid would attempt to "out" him, when he was very clearly a homosexual. And moreover, everyone seemed to know it except perhaps for the little old ladies that were his biggest fans. I can only speculate, but I really think that he when he sued for libel, he did so not to protect his own reputation, but rather to protect the sensibilities of those little old lady fans.

Absolutely love and adore this man. I am so grateful my mother took me to see him in Vegas! I love piano:) His brother played violin and had a violin shaped pool built in his backyard... Which was the house next door to my aunt and uncle. His brother had long since moved but my cousin and I delighted in jumping the fence to swim in it:)

I love his act. The classiest unclassy performance ever. Obviously a great musician but I love the way he would openly and unashamedly parade his extravagance for the whole world to see - but at the same time genuinly wanting to connect with his audience and give them a great night. Just a shame he couldn't be so open about his sexuality - but they were different times and wouldn't have been acceptable in his younger years and by the time it was acceptable; I guess he must've felt it was too late to unravel the lie. I was way too young to appreciate his performance back in the day, but thanks to TH-cam can now enjoy watching this hugely talented; warm and entertaining man !

Such a great virtuoso there will never ever be another piano player that will ever come close to Liberace, a man that dedicated himself to his fans. you will not ever see any famous person or band ever again in your liftime that will put one half of the showmanship that Liberace put in 30 minutes of his two hour show.

Man I remember watching him on tv when I was a little girl.I would stop every thing I was doing just to watch.
And I wish his brother George had been there. lol. Liberace was an amazing showman contrary of anything else about him people will say. I think he had more outfits and jewels than Elvis. I do remember him as a young kid watching the Tonight Show with Carson. He had this piano decked out in crystal as he performed on it. Johnny Carson commented on the piano and Liberace said...."Well Johnny there are only two like them in the world.................and I own both of them." Lol. He did have a sense of humor about all of it.
In fact Kim, it was Liberace that suggested to Elvis to go with the sequined jump suits. Elvis wasn't sure about it at first but after all, what is older Elvis without his jump suits? They're great for the "Center of Attention" that Elvis exuded. I, for one, couldn't imagine Elvis going up on stage looking like one of the Eagles, in blue jeans and a T-shirt, could you?
He did 56 sold out shows in a radio city music hall. He was bigger than Elvis when he had his own TV show. At 65 he was still entertaining people packing the house. He was an approachable, generous person if you watch more about the man. All the while being the highest paid entertainer in the world. Back then maintaining a straight image was critical to his marketability. and the continuation of doing what he loved. I think anyone who wants to say he was this and that who had this and died of this. Is kind of sad. Because he was much more. And likely those saying that will never achieve the kinds of success that he did. or pass this life leaving 115 million dollars in the bank. No more likely keep working a 40 hour work week and criticiising people trying to point out the worse in people to make your self feel better.

That would be a sight at Safeway. But I had a real experience. I was bell ringing for the Salvation Army in the mid 90s or so during the Christmas fund raiser in Brookfield, WI., a near suburb of Milwaukee. We have a grocery store chain here called Pick n Save, and while I was ringing, a guy, looked like in his 60s, drove up in a Rolls to shop. If I recall correctly, it was a hunter green color, didn't get the model, but one of the standard models of the time.
He was a great pianist. Loved watching him play, it was MAGICAL ❤️. Plus, he was a kind and caring man from what his friends said❤️. Debbie Reynolds adored him❤️

His voice and kinda the way he speaks reminds me of my grandfather. As a young adult he came to Milwaukee from Bavaria in 1951. I miss him so much. Wonderful man, also very successful in life. I could listen to Liberace talk all day.
