Back in 1967, I had the opportunity to meet and visit with LIberace, and even had my picture taken with him. In my radio DJ days, I met a lot of performers, but Liberace stands out for the ease in how he met people and his genuine pleasant personality. As a performer, one of the best ever. As a kid, I had to watch his TV show every week, because my mother made sure we never missed a one!!
As a young, somewhat poor, boy in the LA area in the 1950's, I'll never forget him. Near Xmas time, he, dressed as Santa, sat and kids would walk up, one by one, to him, in his driveway, and he'd give them a toy. Hundreds of kids too. He, gave toys to all the kids, but it was the 50's- and I saw, they had two lines, one for black kids, the other for white kids. I'll never forget his rooftop piano, it was the one unique thing, that kept this memory alive. As a kid, just happy for a Christmas Toy, his lifestyle was not our concern, it was his generosity, and love of others, that's most remembered..
1950s segregation, that's how it was back then. If he'd only had one line it'd have caused trouble with protests and police intervention. So to keep the peace he kept to the law. 1950s with all the glitz and glamour were totally different time's.
I attended one of Liberace’s 1981 concerts in Las Vegas and it was WONDERFUL!! Liberace was a true showman and a music genius. No one can deny the reality of his talent as a pianist and entertainer and that’s what millions of people around the world enjoyed in his shows. It was such a memorable weekend for me seeing two of the greatest performers - Liberace and Liza Minnelli! Liza was apparently in Las Vegas for the first time in nine years so it was ‘the icing on the cake’ as far as I was concerned and even more so because Joel Grey was in her show too.
My mom took me to see Liberace in concert when I was 3. I came home and played "chariots of fire" by ear (a very simple version, of course). I've loved playing the piano ever since. Last week, I revisited that song, and I'm learning it as it was meant to be played! So much fun to learn! I'm so thankful I got a chance to see him play! It's one of my earliest and most cherished memories.I remember his costume changes, his voice, his smile, his hands bouncing high above the keyboard while he played... Even at 3, I was truly mesmerized. He was an extraordinary human bieng.

What a wonderful person Liberace was. So kind and such a unique person, he certainly had a heart of gold. A man who loves his mother so much is aced by me.
I miss him, I miss him even more so during Christmas time. I unfortunately never got to meet him and I would of loved to see him play in person. I absolutely adore him. We love you Lee. 💕
I bought my first record album at 9 years old. It was Liberace. I loved watching him on TV. I thought he was the happiest person in the world and I have always been a fan.
Nice documentary. Liberace was one of my idols growing up. I will never regret the opportunity I had to see one of his concerts and shake his hand. Another thing I will never forget was something I heard him say during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jonny Carson. Jonny asked him how he could play with all those rings on his fingers, a and he said, "Very well." I truly admired him. I was saddened to hear of his death from AIDS. R.I.P. Liberace!!! 🎶🎼🎵🎹💗
I remember when I was a kid and my mom always made sure to tune into the daily talk show like Merv Griffin or Mike Douglass especially if Liberace was the guest and someone would ask "Lee,does it ever make you sad when someone makes fun of you? And Liberace responded "Sometimes I cry, I ,cry all the way to the Bank" meaning ,Keep trying, keep working, stay focused and you will get better and better and succeed
I saw him in the mid 80s as a teen who adored big hair and way too much make-up.My Grandma and I went,he totally blew me away! Witty, warm and amazing on the piano! Such a wonderful memory..It still makes me smile to remember him.I wish he could have loved himself as much as he loved others.
I used to tell people that I wanted to go to Las Vegas so I could go to jail because when I visited the Liberace museum and sat down at Chopin's olive green, world's rarest piano and played it so I could tell my grandchildren about it one day, that I'd go to jail. I did get to go to Vegas, but, alas, didn't get to go to the museum for the weeks we were there, so I missed out. Liberace was my Idol and I wish I coulda done that. It's a beautiful piano. Thanks for letting me vent. Sharon
One of my earliest memories is watching the LIberace Show on TV with my Mum. We used to guess with which eye he would give his trademark 'wink'. Happy times .
HE WAS FROM MY CITY = MILWAUKEE - THE BEST THING ABOUT HIM, HIS LOVE & TALENT OF PLAYING & ENJOYING MUSIC & ENTERTAINING US ALL....GOD BLESS YOU LIBERACE - WE LOVED YOUR SHOWMANSHIP!!
Such a great showman! THE BEST EVER! Way over the top but he got by w/it - no one else ever was close to being like him or playing the piano like he did - absolutely fantastic! Miss him!
How I wish I could have seen him, heard him and known him. Lucky Debbie. I watched this hour and while old, ill and lonely, I was transfixed. I realised I had not been without a smile the whole time. He is still making people happy from wherever he is. Perhaps I will still meet him one day. ❤
Even as a youngster in the 70s and onward I and my family and especially my mom absolutely loved Liberace and never missed a show on TV. Being "different" myself, I identified with his flamboyance and between him and Cher couldn't wait to see their next wonderful costumes and sets. Liberace's smile was everpresent which is a big part of his success. He brought joy to the world. What better legacy could he leave? Life never seemed fair to the most beloved and so AIDS took him while "god" looked on with apathy. But he lives forever through the strength of his love for others. XO I hope I'll see you again, brother.
My mother and I went to see him in Jacksonville Florida a whole lot of years ago!!. What a show!! He loved his audience and we loved him. After watching him on TV for years (in black and white) I was thrilled to see him live, in living color. It was an exciting show. Too bad we have nothing today.🎈🎈
The finale here, tears, like said 'there will never be another one like him, for never forgot my late Mother & I saw him in concert @ Butler, Indianapolis, & him playing 'Send in the clowns' & the puppet of clown going up & down the piano, yes, Great at the piano & performer, Liberace..
He was my moms favourite even though my mom wasnt English educated. She will wait for Liberace show to come on tv and starts yelling for me to join her. Recalled it was in the late 60ties He has a cute adorable face and always smiling. Handsome n generous man. Rip You are amazingly talented. Seymour Heller looks a little like George Jones
Met him and his lover at The Phoenix Art Museum when I was still too young to comprehend the magnitude of this man... but it still made an indelible impression that remains vivid to this day!
I dont know him much, but watching this, I love him already, that charm, that talent that great big smile and kindness, he's one of a kind, RIP Liberace🥰
every time I see his "T.V." shows, or his concerts, he always brings a smile to my face. growing up knowing about him ( my parents always watched him on "T.V.") you can really tell this man has a "HEART OF GOLD"!!!!. it is a real shame that anyone would want to "HURT" him in any way, shape ,or form. to do so ,in my eyes is just a "SADIST"!!!! he like many others, came from nothing!!!!.
Before him ,there wasn't anyone, after him there is still no one. Liberace was and is the ultimate showman. I hope you are entertaining the angels in Heaven.
That man always had a smile on his face and his eyes realy looked at people in the audience. He cared and that showed. We need more men like him. The Dutch version of him is André Rieu (if you get the chance, go to one of his shows).
I remember seeing MOST of these black and white shows on TV when growing up!.., My mother was NUTS about him and refused to ever believe he was gay. He was a hell of a performer and he could really play classical music which I love the most!..., His home in Calif., is now in ruins and dilapidated!.., But he will live on regardless of his hidden life style!.., The "Moonlight Signata" always makes me cry, TRULY my favorite classical ever!.., His life story breaks my heart.
Sweet Suzy , true he was an amazing amazing artist with any person who precious another person to have sex is scumbag. Read the book written by his lover and chauffeur he wasn't much of a person
I have been defending him for years saying the stories about him were very exaggerated now l do not really know what to think but l know he never raped anyone or forced anyone to sleep with him and l know he was in love with Joanne del Rio in the 1950 ,s and would have married her if her rich dad had not stopped them getting married why worry about all this now we got this virus to overcome which is much more important
As I watch this I'm struck by how much Liberace reminds me of Neil Sedaka. As a kid my memories of Liberace were of course of him but playing the piano and dressed to the hilt. His talent was incredible to me. I used to play the piano as well as a few other instruments and I knew the amount of work it took to become that proficient. And his smile, he was always smiling while he played. unique, so over the top with his flamboyance but he made it work. Anyone who could take their eyes off of him while he performed is a better man than I.
It seemed nothing could/would stop this man and his unique talent from becoming ultra famous. You have to admire his amazing abilities and bravery. He loved his mum and took care of the family too, that is just a wonderful thing in itself. It's hard to imagine Liberace resting in peace, he'd be too busy rhine-stoning those already pearly gates.
Who cares about his sexuality?? It's. no one's business, period!!! Also, No one dies of AIDS!! they die of the opportunistic diseases that the immune system can't fight!! hence, Aquired Immune Dificency Syndrome!!!! He was a talented artist, and Should be remembered that way!! a kind, generous soul !!! thanks for uploading this!!! Luv Ya !¡
Since no one dies of Aids how would you like to be injected with the virus so you can die of opportunistic diseases as your body breaks down as a direct result of the aids virus? Don't try to be technical the man died directly as a result of AIDS which he contracted as a result of promiscuity.
@@gmailplaystore1152 Educate yourself before you come for me !! It was explained in my previous remark !! You die from the opportunistic diseases that AIDS allows to kill you, such as pneumonia, or the different cancers, that a person with a normal immune system could fight off !!
Phyllis Diller.. a brilliant concert pianist in her own right.. Nailed the essence of Liberace perfectly. (I think we could all used just a little bit more Lee right now.)

I believe he is in heaven, happier than he has ever been, playing for our Heavenly Father along with the heavenly Saints. An extroidenary Man.
What a wonderful person Liberace was. So kind and such a unique person, he certainly had a heart of gold. A man who loves his mother so much is aced by me.
Yes!!! ❣
I miss him, I miss him even more so during Christmas time. I unfortunately never got to meet him and I would of loved to see him play in person. I absolutely adore him. We love you Lee. 💕
What a lovely, charming and gifted man he was.
I am glad to have witnessed his existence during my lifetime.
He was the kindest man. A gentle soul, so generous of heart. God bless him!
He will be greatly missed
Biggest Liberace Fan
Amen to that Philip... jst enough to look at his gentle smile, so real and sweet.

Vishnujana Dasa so does the pope. Great guy right?
A Musical Genius and an extremely nice person he was..Rest in Paradise 💙
That was a very well made video, it was both entertaining and informative, tastefully done. What a remarkable Legend.
A wonderful documentary
I have the same sweet memory. Good memories.
Miss him!
An amazing talent and showman, have the greatest respect
Yes Kevin we shall never see the likes of him again a true virtuoso
Thank you
My Mom and Dad loved Liberace. I remember listening to his music since I was a kid
The Same Here About Liberace!
Yes. Great showman and very entertaining.
I think part of his appeal was all the women just “knew” they would be “safe” with him. I love Liberace!
Never will be another Liberace. Those days are long gone.
Recalled it was in the late 60ties
He has a cute adorable face and always smiling. Handsome n generous man. Rip You are amazingly talented.
Seymour Heller looks a little like George Jones
Met him and his lover at The Phoenix Art Museum when I was still too young to comprehend the magnitude of this man... but it still made an indelible impression that remains vivid to this day!
Actually Right About Liberace!
Lucky You!!Lesley!
I dont know him much, but watching this, I love him already, that charm, that talent that great big smile and kindness, he's one of a kind, RIP Liberace🥰
Genuinely heartwarming! Liberace sweet soul transcends in 2020. I love Liberace🙏💞
What a great musician he was RIP Lee
He was a gentle soul.
He was such an amazing musician!
every time I see his "T.V." shows, or his concerts, he always brings a smile to my face. growing up knowing about him ( my parents always watched him on "T.V.") you can really tell this man has a "HEART OF GOLD"!!!!. it is a real shame that anyone would want to "HURT" him in any way, shape ,or form. to do so ,in my eyes is just a "SADIST"!!!! he like many others, came from nothing!!!!.
What a wonderful man he was. He was truly kind and sensitive ❤️🙏❤️
I come back to this video every couple of years. I cry every time I watch it.
What a showman with a fantastic life style RIP 💔
Before him ,there wasn't anyone, after him there is still no one. Liberace was and is the ultimate showman. I hope you are entertaining the angels in Heaven.
That man always had a smile on his face and his eyes realy looked at people in the audience. He cared and that showed. We need more men like him.
The Dutch version of him is André Rieu (if you get the chance, go to one of his shows).
My parents liked Andre Rieu, I had bought them videos and DVD's so they could watch anytime at home.
I remember seeing MOST of these black and white shows on TV when growing up!.., My mother was NUTS about him and refused to ever believe he was gay. He was a hell of a performer and he could really play classical music which I love the most!..., His home in Calif., is now in ruins and dilapidated!.., But he will live on regardless of his hidden life style!.., The "Moonlight Signata" always makes me cry, TRULY my favorite classical ever!.., His life story breaks my heart.
now a british man has bought liberaces house and completed restored it
Sad to hear that has happened to his beautiful home ,but I now read it's being returned to it's former glory
I have always thought he was a good soul...Never met him but you could tell he was a good person ❤ Always had a smile !
Sweet Suzy , true he was an amazing amazing artist with any person who precious another person to have sex is scumbag. Read the book written by his lover and chauffeur he wasn't much of a person
Not so sure he went after a lot of teen boys ;discusting
Not really so sweet ..He was a sexual predator whose victims were youngish boys.
@@joanporter916 thank you Joan.
Liberace knowingly infected so-called cheap rent boys with HIV.
Start the day with a smile. Perfect.
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
I always wish I could have seen Lee, he will never be forgotten....😘
Thank you Lee
The Same Here About Liberace!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Mr. Showmanship ! 100 years ... May 16th - 1919 !
A rare talent and an awesome pianist never be another one like him
Personality, flare, always smiling, he always made the people feel they were special
Master showman and musician !!
Luv Ya !¡
Martie Gallego it was different then...problem now it's sex is upfront, talent now is soo low on the back burner...
God is passing judgement and there is a God above.
@@gaycausesoneisparentalnegl309 And He is the on!y one that can judge !! It sounds like you might be trying to be God??
Phyllis Diller.. a brilliant concert pianist in her own right.. Nailed the essence of Liberace perfectly. (I think we could all used just a little bit more Lee right now.)
I didn't know Phyllis was a concert pianists. Thanks for that information.
Gods2ndFavoriteBassPlyr didn’t know that
What an interesting documentary! Thanks 🙏 thoroughly enjoyed it
He really seemed like such a genuinely awesome man. I wish I was able to have been around when he was. I can say- I am proud of him. Kindness and honesty rules. Bless him.
