- Even though I said I wouldn't buy the Target set I decided to pick it up and compare it to the amazon knock offs and the original 1992 TMNT movie star figures.

Thank you for spending your money so we don't have to! 😂... Was really interesting to see these comparisons, the K.O set has been going around for years now! The "new" playmates set is so much worse than I first thought, other than the Shredder which is shockingly good! The original figures once again could not be beat!

The peg holes on the re issue are so big because they were meant to house screws that screwed the Leonardo figure onto his base when he came in the history of Leonardo figure box set and since they just re used the molds for that all the figures have it
Im late but they have bigger peg wholes because since the 2003 line they updated the pegs so they probably did it so it can fit the new stuff

I never had the movie star turtles as a kid as I was 10 and had moved on from TMNT...so I dont have that nostalgia for them...however I bought this set to use as shelf liners to go behind my 88-91 loose TMNT collection and after this video I kinda want loose 92 versions lol

ok, so i am the guy that pushed you into this, so, firstly, THANK YOU! I got the reissues and eventually! yeah, i got into the vintage. I have started the process and have Michaelangelo and Leonardo. I am selling my residue set BUT! I am keeping the super Shredder. I may one day find the vintage but, hey, i may not either
I’m glad you talked me into it! The Super Shredder was the closest to the original toy from what I remember so I don’t blame you for deciding to keep him. The other dudes have problems, but are probably ok placeholders until you can get the real deal. I hope you like Mikey and Leo!
I liked these figures better than the cartoon series when I was a child 😅 Glad NECA released a new movie star series figures
These 2021 Movie Star Turtles have the same colors as the 2012 TMNT.

I really liked the Movie Star turtles back in the day because they looked and felt different than the original TMNT figures. This re-issue feels like such a badly executed idea.
I laughed way more than I should at Michaelangelo having two right legs.
I bought these dudes. $44 for 6 carded tmnt. @ first I didn’t like splinter. But the more I c him , the more I appreciate this years rendition of him. & the turtles are ok. & if anything you get an awesome replica of super shredder

these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Star figures are pretty impressive to me more detail and don't feel cheaply made. For show pieces I think they look better than the retro ones do.
Splinter looks like ET when he died
I was looking at my target turtle figures and realized Leonardo’s banana is a different piece from the head unlike the other turtles where the bandana is painted on and the back piece is inserted but on Leo it’s a separate piece and they use Raphael's back bandana piece mold thing for Leonardo’s back piece thing just it’s inserted differently if that makes sense lol

I was kind of hoping at some point this video would pop up lol! Hey there are some positives and the negatives to all these sets. Are they off yes is there some quality control issues yes but honestly for 40 bucks it really makes it hard to complain as much. I'm glad the weapon racks came with instead of just the core weapons. Overall I'm happy to have movie star figures even if they are the best as it was the thing that got me into tmnt. I hope to hear your opinions on these next sets with that expensive price point lol :P

Honestly can't blame you for this, been hesitant on getting these for a while but after seeing more into these, the worse they looked; thankfully was able to find a complete set of the original rubbery versions of these guys from '92, even if it set me back by $100, hoping to see how they'll look on my shelf, guess to say thanks for saving me from wasting money on this Target shit, even if I doubt you'll see this post lol
The originals are usually always better! Even the new remakes Playmates have been making of the classic figures can either be very close or just awful. Their recent release of the 88 Bebop is terrible. I think maybe Mondo and Ray Filet were good when I looked at them in the store. The Mutatin figures were good, but they can’t get Raphael’s color correct. Don’t worry, I always read my comments, I’m just usually pretty late getting back to people. Thanks for commenting!
@@razrentals8897 I say for me if it isn't too different or cheap looking, that's where I go for with my purchases, it reeks of "consoom products" but idk, the only times I ever did buckle down on getting the rereleases is for the 80s turtles/the 2003 series, even then with the former I got the ones from a decade ago; am happy with how the 90s movie star figures came in terms of quality, kind of expecting them to be bigger from photos/ads I've seen but I guess you'll always get something different in person, still good video regardless, man

I’m guessing the Leo belt was remoulded, mainly due to the fact when they released the history of Leonardo, the movie star Leo did not have his belt , so I’m guessing the original belts mould was destroyed, like the 2007 figure moulds
That’s a bummer. I heard there’s some transformers they can never reissue as well because the molds were accidentally destroyed.

I got KO's of these guys from ebay and made some customs I usually buy them for that reason..that way you keep the OG's clean..the box art is the coolest.
the thicker feet are a major improvement for just displaying them, however, the giant peg holes are pointless. I am happy with them as i never had ALL of the MS turtles and to get them in good condition now…. is a lot more than i want to pay, so, this pack is a nice compromise

The colors of these turtles are different from the ones released in 1992. these are the colors of the 2012 turtles. So basically, they took the old line of action figures and gave them the colors from the newer line of action figures.
I really want a brand new set of the Movie Star turtles, but color on Michelangelo is terrible! I agree that Playmate did a terrible job with the re-release of Mikey. I may buy this anyway because I really want the Movie Star set, I don't want them used, so I'll buy this just to have fresh new set. I was never able to collect this entire set as a kid.
These new movie star turtles I believe are colored to look like the ones from the Rock Concert of TMNT : Coming Out Of Their Shell 92 Tour

Yeah I agree with you. They should have put one out. There was a big line for the Turtles 3 figures. How could they never put out a 90/91 Shredder?
there were a few different versions of the bootleg movie set floating around, I had one that was kind of nice where they were very solid, but someone must have casted the knocks cause there was an even worse set that had the holes in the back.

I have to compare them to the KO figures when my order arrives but good luck hunting down the original movie figures. $100+ each, sounds like a lot of fun. Better off getting NECA at that point.
I just got my movie star turtles yesterday thanks to finding a $60 in box pack of all 6 on eBay that’s the best you can get for them now because now they go for $100-$200 so I got it for a bargain luckily.
But I agree with you they all look the same but I’m fine with it as long as I get to play with movie turtles and my Leo lost 1 of his swords within 4 hours of me playing with him so luckily I decided to replace them with my other Leo’s swords luckily I had a normal Leonardo figure from the new 2021 line of original turtles and I have all 4 of them btw but that doesn’t matter but I replaced both of his swords his broken one and the not broken one with my other Leo’s swords and I gave my normal Leo that 1 sword my movie turtle had and I also want to say… I don’t agree I don’t exactly think they suck because they are smoother than the normal 2021 original turtles line and that’s a plus about them and they also are kinda cool to just look at when your not playing with them and now that my normal Mikey lost one of his nunchucks to breaking I can now replace it with one of the movie star turtles ones yay :D but yeah otherwise great review can’t wait for the mouser review later this week hopefully but overall great video for 1 year ago.
@@dylansplushmore2302 that’s awesome that you got them for a deal! I think back when I made this video I saw a bunch of people using their weapons to replace their original weapons. Hopefully the mouser review will be up mid week. I’m trying but I’m also trying to finish some art projects so unfortunately those deadlines need to be met first. @@razrentals8897 any time Raz rentals love your videos I have almost completed my re-release of the original turtles line I just need the mirage turtles box set the sewer sports turtles box set and an original splinter bebop and Baxter stockman and shredder so to put it there I only need 14 more figures to complete my line for my collection to play with and hopefully show my kids someday when I have kids. And hopefully I can finish the line within 1 or 2 years from finding good eBay results and such!.

I found a great deal for 4 bad guys for only $50 I usually get my bad guy figures for $50 each but $50 for 4 guys is a steal soo… here’s the link to the figures on Amazon at the end of my comment and I also recommend you buy them before they are gone because like I said $50 for 4 bad guys is a steal soo… here it is at the bottom of my comment as you can see at the bottom and btw there by playmates and there the original re-releases of 4 more bad guys from the original TMNT line of figures so I think it would be great to see you review them and see what you think of comparing the 4 figures to there original 1988-1989-1990 counter parts. How would you recommend cleaning these figured? I recently got a Mikey and it looks dark?.
I cleaned my Movie star turtles with warm water, dish soap, and a wash clothe. I was just very careful not to push too hard on the painted spots.
I got this on clearance for $23 and it still feels like a ripoff. The color I can understand, its a reissue and they had to differentiate. But reusing Leo’s body on 3 turtles was very disappointing. Thanks for the in-depth review, wish I still had my original movie star toys

While I do highly recommend the originals much more than the new box set the 4 turtles cost me $160! And the box set is only $45 so I think it’s a pretty good alternative but again the originals are far superior lol
knockoff Splinter and footsoldier's color scheme is based off of 2012's nick turtles' Splinter & footsoldier.
I can see that now. I guess the shape of the head or the black pattern makes him look more like a raccoon compared to how he looks in that show.

Least they could’ve done is get the colors right. Arms and legs should’ve been a priority too given that their weapons depend on it. Truly lazy.

Personally, I hate how the Movie Star Turtles look. They have this weird, warty-looking skin for some reason...looks more like the Movie 3 Turtles! Looking more toadlike than Turtle-esque.
I think back then the extra detail made them feel more realistic or something for me.
Thank you for the video. My KO's are much better than this. I think they might be better that the reissiue. I think you may gotten a bad version. Mine also have different bodies like the originals.
I personally don't know why every holds the OG Movie Star Turtles in such high regards. Don't get me wrong they are definitely quality figures but there are things that look so odd. Leo's mouth always stood out to me as dumb
