Go outdoors were bought by JD sports group, which also owns blacks and several other outdoor brands which is why you see them elsewhere. I've done a video on modifications I've done to improve it on my channel. I had a hand in re designing the bobcats predecessor....the col. After my modifications to the col.....the col lite was born, then it was altered again (and made heavier again) and re branded as the OEX bobcat. It only comes in one colour....green, the misconception comes from lighting effects while photographing the tent for promo purposes.
Peg out the rear of the tent first but not the centre guy line .then peg out the front including the front guys . Pulling the tent forward and tight .then last the rear centre guyline but dont over tighten .this will get rid of the saggy rear section of the tent .
I love your videos ❣️It’s a way I can live vicariously now that I’m old and disabled. They bring back memories of great camping experiences in Virginia, minus bears.🐻 😮😊😅
Great tent. Had mine for a year now. Some thought has been put in to this tent. If You take out the pole from the stuff sack, it really does compress down to the size of a childs football, AND there is even enough room in the sack to stuff the expedition tarp in too. Also, if you take trekking poles with you, you can use them to prop open the door as an awning..
Great little tent but I find it too small with my UL140 sleeping mat. Switched to a OEX Jackal II which of course is heavier but the extra room is a god send and doesn't feel like I'm in a coffin.
yes i recieved mine yesterday and im loving it the only thing im going to do to it is put carrabeenas on the corners of the inner to stop them popping out great video mr bushcraft
We had to get my son a replacement tent whilst camping in August, we chose the eurohike Ribble 3 from go outdoors. Cost around 60 quid and did the job perfectly.
bobcat is a cracking tent, bough mine for motorcycle camping on the trans euro trail, i can get the bobcat, sleeping matt, sleeping bag and folding chair in one pannier. its a good size when packed and pretty light
Stoped watching these kind of videos for reasons, a few weeks ago I watched a few of yours, fun to watch, great guy you are! Proper 👍 respect from northern Ontario Canada friend 👊
Had this for a while. Used when hiking the south down way and round the isle of wight. Been through all sorts of weather. Handy if you need to cram into a small pitch site.
Looks like a nice little tent! I got a "Used REI" Similar to yours from a friend for $20 US. It Didn't leak and he threw in a ground cover for it "Free" 😁
Have you seen Ant 🐜 Survive The Night's video in a raging storm with high wings where posher more expensive tents failed? Seems they're getting very popular now.
Mine should be arriving tomorrow, wanted one since I saw Andy and Mark do the e-bike ride, not sure if ill get out in it in the next few weeks, depends on the weather, but hoping too! was £67 from Blacks but the day after I ordered it went up to £115 so was quite lucky!
i got a similar one off amazon, but it had the folding army style cot that the tent sits on top of, it's pretty good, ive slept in it one time in the garden, its pretty narrow though so be aware that if you have much equipment with you, it wont fit unless you stash it underneath. This was a good one Andy thanks
I've had my Bobcat for three years now and used it in all seasons. The ridge pole was always a struggle until I sawed 10 mm off one section. Now it's perfect. Problem is that, if you pitch with the door to the leeward side, any wind will cave the tent wall inwards and rob you of what little internal space there is. I use a delta peg on the guy, but still can't prevent this. On the upside, it is quick pitch, very waterproof, packs down well and great value.
Nice little tent. I'd buy one but I've got 3 tents not out of the wrappers, an unused DD tarp and hammock; and I'm expecting a pack raft tomorrow. Time I got my fat ass out in the field😂😂. I totally fit the old army saying from years back "All the gear, no idea"😂😂
The problem I have with new tent's are the ZIPPER'S !!! Someone should use the old school metal ones !! They lock both ways side to side and up and down. I watched your review on the Russian Bear hot tent this morning, great setup for fall and winter . That door is nice to have. cheer's
I have the north ridge col which I think is brilliant I use a ground sheet with it though also the stick on triangles on the back for extra guy lines to pull it out more.
Hi Andy. thanks for this review. I regularly follow your antics with Simon and folks. I liked the looks of the Bobcat and as my current ride is a Coyote EMTB so the wild animal theme triggered my interest. I am looking for a roomy 1 man tent to supplement my DD tarp. I have the superb Gonex 2 which i got for about sixty quid two years ago on Am, I haven't seen it offered since but it is a double skin dome with the extra rigidity from two poles crossed. Footprint is 2.1x1.5 by 1m high. 2.5 kg, 8mm ally poles, Poly fabric, well stitched and sealed which I spray all outer faces and bathtub with Fabsil Gold. Love it.
Got a few OEX tents love em, bobcat, rakoon, phoxx, jackal never had any issues. The expedition tarps are really hard to get a hold of now good bit of kit, the bush pro tarp is decent aswell
I still prefer free standing tents. Less time to pitch (and easier to pitch in darkness), no pegs necessary and no lines for people or animals to knock loose and trip over at night, possibly tearing the tent. I don't understand 'inners', but I guess people like the option. You might just look for an old Marmot Swallow tent. Still working 30 years on.
Looks very nice. I have some nice tents, but I usually find myself using a cheap camo Amazon special for about 15 bucks. I would not trust it in anything more than a misty drizzle, but I prefer to put a tarp over it anyway. Thanks for the video.
Thanks very much mate you just solved a big problem for me,I tour europe on my motorcycle and I’m using the summit cub 2 great tent just a bit bulky iv been looking for something like this for a while I’ll give it a go thanks 👍
Definitely a good 1+! tent. Looks like my older, but goto Macpac Microlite - but with better mosinet! Great for one, quick pitch, excellent proofing (if renewed annually) and light enough for 3 season hikes. (4 as long as is its not too windy!) always take quality pgs! Great tent - but look at the base material and the ground you expect to camp on!
The OEX expedition tarp comes in a similar pack size to the tent for some reason. Haven’t actually taken it out yet, so you can possibly pack it in a compression bag and pack it smaller, keeping the poles separate. Yet to take my bobcat out, the stratosphere is still my go to for stealth camping. Great video! Still waiting for a bad review on this tent 😂
I like the design of it but I think I'll stick with my backwoods bungalow by Onetigris. Its 1 lbs lighter and has a bigger awning. Will consider in the future if they revamp the design and cut down on the weight.
@@Chris66able I have the BWB for 3 1/2 years now and I've been in a handfull of storms but nothing violent and it's held up well with no leaks. The bobcat looks like it would survive a monsoon, lol.
Just bought one of these when on promotion last week. Think it will come in very handy if I need a very quick and inconspicuous sleeping place when on my road trips, and makes an excellent companion to my Cloud Up 2 (Luckily having the luxury of the car, I can take both 😁)
Great video.. do you have any recommendations for a big winter sleeping bag for 6ft2/48chest that's isn't going to break the bank? Thanks for sharing all your knowledge 🙏
I've just camped out in the garden in my oex henya2 during the storm we have just had and I felt totally safe and warm, no condensation on the inner area despite the driving rain and wind. 🏕️💨💨🌧️🌧️💪
Have you ever tried a garden/beach sunshade, where you can zip up the extra frontage to make a small tent from it? I wonder if you even read these comments as you don't "like" them, even.
Hi, I'm picking up camping again later in life. I've researched most aspects, but I'm struggling with a sleep system. How good is the Topo Luxe sleep mat? I'm looking to do 3 season camping in the UK and wondered what you would recommend.
You hit a bit on what my major problem with tent shopping is, and thats size. I'm 6'2" tall and have a ton of trouble finding a tent that I can pack and carry, that I can actually fit in. Much less comfortably. If you know of anything, please share. From one Andy to another, thanks!
I have a question mate ,I'm going to be converting to a wood burner stove for fishing long sessions, is it legal to carry an axe for cutting wood only ,I presume a sheath will help aswell I'm there for a month at a time but should get largely left alone
Trouble I find is at 6ft6 and 116kg no one man rand has enough room and light weight inflatable mattress is impossible to find for my weight. Meaning I’m stuck with a 2 man tent and no mattress other than a roll mat any ideas on a mattress ?
No idea, it's shite compared to the Phoxx 2! The sag in the bedroom is abysmal! I litetally pitched mine in the garden and chucked it straight on ebay! Needs some serious modding to make it useful! The porch is great, thats where it ends sadly!
Save weight and get rid of those god awful cheap pegs. Considering the improvement of pegs over the years, im sure they could provide much stronger and better quality without increasing costs. OEX do seem to have a good reputation, if somewhat heavy materials. Cheers.
If you are not doing Audiobooks, there is a part of the world missing out on your gentle and informative tone of voice.
do you mean word missing

Up to £115 now. That's slightly taking the pee out of its customers because they've noticed an interest in it. I'd advise looking else where.
