@@arnavpandey3823 There are many great film critics who don't like TDK. It doesn't Make them dumb. (I am not talking about MCU and DCEU shills and fanboys) Movies are subjective just like art.
Excellent work. Dark Knight is definitely one of the greatest films ever made. The Joker constantly tries to prove to Batman that the society is selfish and will not act ethically when its survival is threatened. When he declares that Batman he should reveal himself and starts killing people, the people of Gotham start condemning Batman, even when he has done so much for them. He again proves his point with Harvey Dent, who leaves his noble intentions behind and starts seeking personal revenge. Batman is the only one who stands by his own principles and doesn't abandon them even when he suffers personal loss (Rachel's death). Joker admits this in the end when he says "You truly are incorruptible".
They always say these movies are 'dark and gritty'. Well the tone and the visuals are, but it's core message is actually super optimistic about human nature. An optimism I don't share, but do admire.
Yes. But even people of Gotham and criminals don't blast each other proving that when chips are down people don't kill eachother. They are inherently good
@@RalphLindsen It's a bit more complex than just optimistic. It shows two sides to human nature. The negative action to people falling under harsh circumstances, and the other side of people being able to do good
omg !!! who are you man ? I've never heard one of my countryman talk so seriously of a Hollywood cinema!! Most of indian multiplexed audience wouldnt find the difference between Nolans Batman and the rest of the previous and post interpreted versions of the same!! Nolans Batman Trilogy is first of all a serious cinema made by a seriously high thinking film director. nolan has clearly ventured into the pshyche a super hero, the circumstances that lead him to be one and the existential questions that he has to battle within.....Brilliant Sir Good Job... wish to hear your analysis of the last film in the trilogy
Wow, I've seen a lot of the dark knight movie analysis and I must say without a doubt this movie has very deep philosophical meanings. Many TH-cam videos about the dark knight has different opinions about the theme of the movie and I think none of theme are wrong. Every time I watch a video about TDK I learn more about the movie, each time there is something new which makes me love the movie more. And I especially love this explanation from your point of view, you seems to have a deep understanding of the movie. Thanks
One mistake that you made was that ideas like the Noble Lie is purely Western Concept......Chanakya never discussed anything like the Noble Lie.... Here in this land it was always about Dharma and Adharma which is a completely different concept than that the Western thinker have had......
The ending lines in this movie narrated by GARY OLDMAN, the perfect dialogue delivery, still gives me goosebumps ... A movie where the villian wins, hero taking the blame and escaping into darkness.... "Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll hunt him. Because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight."
Amazing video, I have seen and read many analysis of The Dark Knight and this (very interesting) aspect has always been, in my opinion, the most overlooked until this video :D
Great job mate. Climax monolog and Montague gave me goosebumps. Thank u for that. I wish u could do more videos specifically on film cinematography, editing and sound.
he is forgetting about the Locke vs Hobbe theory prevalent in the film, people are animals and monsters at heart, when the chips are down, civilized people eat each other, therfore they need a powerful leader vs. Batman's thoery that people are good at heart
Honestly, neither idea is wrong. I think it's more dependent on the individuals rather than the whole of society. It just so happens that the people on those boats chose to not kill the people on the other boat because more good people outweighed bad people. And I think that's true in the real world. The good vastly outnumber the bad. The bad just are good at creating chaos and anarchy and ruining it for everybody else.
"Great movies tell one story at a time, while exploring the truth of a lifetime". Very good video! Thank you for inspiring me and helping me with my writing. Keep up the good work, sir!
I just wanna comment that I made a video on Visual literacy (more of a ppt than video) for my college project, and I copied the last words of Martin Scorcese in this video as my last words in my project. Its my favourite video I have watched this video 8 times by now, thanks Vinit.
Loved how topics which contain this much excitement and passion are also explained in such a calm and composed tone. More than informative, this video is inspiring ( to explore the deeper part of cinema) and relaxing.
And let's not forget about the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) that Noland made to promote The Dark Knight, he set up hundreds of websites, had gatherings and even delivered Gotham newspapers to the candidates with people trying to solve the whole thing while being identified as Joker's Henchmen, and others helping the police. Nolan made this ARG not only to promote the film but also to tell the story that takes place before the dark knight.
The music by Hans Zimmer always touched heart. And the Gotham itself is a character in this movie at the end, joker tries to prove that the character of Gotham is that people will kill eachother when chips are down but he is proven wrong in the end.
Loved the fact that you highlighted the contradiction of Batman's lie, wherein he ignores the evidence of people's moral inclinations and decides to tell them the authoritarian noble lie. Very interesting point and a great analysis overall.
I must say that you are really doing a good job. It makes more sense when you said that great movies not only have a great story telling but it delves itself into questioning the real rudimentary values. Kudos to the work you are doing.

+Nachiket Dhavalikar Yes I have plans to make an essay on Kurosawa as he is one of my favorites. And as per Rashoman and TDK, although the theme is ambiguity in presentation of truth/lies, in Rashoman, characters are constructing a version of truth necessarily for themselves whereas in TDK, Batman is constructing it only for others. People close to him, friends, foes, and we the audience are completely aware of the reality. But in case of Rashomon, I still have no idea who is speaking the truth.
+Cinema Beyond Entertainment rashoman and tdk cannot be compared... One is pure classic and ahead of its time... And one is great, though overrated piece of work... At least his last two movies, interstellar and tdkr are really weak and extremely overhyped. The Prestige also failed to impress me. Inception, tdk were good, but will some be forgotten. His only interesting movie was memento which also was somewhat boring. Great job bro. Just wanted to tell you that you are creating exceptional content. There are many analysis channels on TH-cam- ScreenPrism, Cinefix, Now you see it, etc to name a few. They make analysis videos of only western classics and dont give a dime about Indian classics (there are many but not as much as foreign classics). I always fear that indian classics like Guide, Jaane Bhi Do Yaron, A Wednesday, Haider, Aligarh, Shahid, Black Friday, Lagaan, Mother India, Udaan, Kagaz ke phool, Works of Satyajit Ray (he was the prime inspiration for Martin Scorsese), and many thousands others will be lost in time if not given enough appreciation. Our audience is gradually getting mature and it will become a pity to see our generation appreciate only Western classics. They need to be made aware of the treasure troves of the Indian Cinema not necessarily Bollywood. And u are the only youtuber (as seen from your videos) who has the calibre to take this responsibility of embracing World Cinema rather than saturating only towards only one section of World culture (which unfortunately others are doing). You have already impressed many by analysing movies like Swades, GOW, Rang De Basanti, etc. Also this will help you create your own Niche in this competitive market. High hopes from you. I liked your anatomy of a great actor video. But in this video, some parts seems a tad too much. Especially the seating in Dent's office. Dent sitting in front of the glass signifying he's the white knight and Gordon in front of the bookshelves signifying his protective attitude. It may be intentional but to me it seems more wishful than intentional. Like you wish it to be intentional than coincidental. I'm very new to this and I may be wrong also. Maybe all this is part of film making. If it is, then kudos to Nolan for making such a brilliant masterpiece.
Hi, very interesting analysis. Are not you gonna make more of them??? One about Burning from Lee Chang Dong would be very interesting to hear. Thanks for sharing
YES! you echo my thoughts when i saw the movie. But a lot more articulate and intelligently put across. I remember watching this films and leaving the cinema questioning politics, democracy most of all, in fact asking myself what is a democracy! human nature and always felt that this movie had a very strong subtext which i don't have the knowledge base to know. I left it at that. Brilliant though to come across this.

It may be intentional but to me it seems more wishful than intentional. Like you wish it to be intentional than coincidental. I'm very new to this and I may be wrong also. Maybe all this is part of film making. If it is, then kudos to Nolan for making such a brilliant masterpiece.
i would watch a film narrated and directed by you. Keep up the good work brother.
Hey! Just love love your analysis, observations and the depth of your knowledge. Would you do ‘ Shawshank Redemption ‘ !??

Hi, very interesting analysis. Are not you gonna make more of them??? One about Burning from Lee Chang Dong would be very interesting to hear. Thanks for sharing

Why didn't i find this channel before?? Subbed :-). Great Channel, buddy
YES! you echo my thoughts when i saw the movie.
