5 Returning Characters: Koopa Kid, Dry Bones, Blooper, Hammer Bro., and Diddy Kong 5 NEW Characters: Count Bleck, Nastasia, Mimi, Dimentio, and O'Chunks (All from Super Paper Mario!) LOL
I'm not getting my hopes up TOO TOO much for any more playable characters, besides Ninji, but I do hope they'll at least round it off to 22 characters and bring back Dry Bones
I definitely believe Dry Bones will be playable; he's a Mario Party staple at this point. Not only that, but both Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars did not show their entire character roaster in the first trailer (in fact, we didn't even know Daisy was playable in Superstars until the final trailer). With all that being said, I definitely think it's pretty likely we get more playable characters than were shown. Especially because, as much as Goomba is not a bad addition to Mario Party, if we truly were to only get 21 characters, it makes no sense to have him over Dry Bones or even Hammer Bro.
I know it sounds very unlikely but, would be awesome to have more characters from other character spin-offs, like Captain syrup and Mona from the Wario games
I would LOVE to play as Luma!! It is obvious with the game being the biggest Mario Party that there will be more, with Ninji and Charging Chuck as playable cameos!
We now have offical confirmation that there will be 22 characters with Pauline being unlockable alongside Ninji. This still does make it the most characters in a mario party game
Aside for Diddy, Pauline & Dry Bones I’d love to see Roy & Wendy playable since the Koopalings are much more respected than the Broodals which may be why they aren’t getting used and plus Roy and Wendy both fit for the party series
I would love the cute flying dinosaur in Mario Odyssey. Add either Robbird or Maw Maw from Mario Wonder. Or use Prince Florian, hes adorable. For Kamek... Just use the purple Paper Mario version.
Remember Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2 was just a dream! Although Birdo and Shy Guy probably has different history so maybe Wart can have different lore!
I dont think 21 characters will be the final number since the scene will all the returning characters besides the newcomer Ninji seemed very uneven since they are likely following the same pattern like the first Mario party on the Switch which will have 2 sides and they have to be even, so i expect they WILL indeed update the same scene with more characters since they did this with Mario Party Superstars with Daisy on the reveal trailer.
I know this is off topic but I'm wondering what happens if the playable Bowser lands on a Bowser Space (I noticed a Bowser Space in Mario Rainbow Castle, which is why I'm wondering this)

Here's a thought, why not the Baby Characters? While I appreciate the consistency in keeping it to Mario's Friends, I feel like the babies would fit better in a Party game than say something like Mario Kart.
