An exclusive look inside the fight against the junta in Myanmar | People & Power Documentary

  • Myanmar’s military government is facing its biggest challenge since it seized power in a coup more than two years ago. This is the most decisive moment in 60 years, after a loose alliance of ethnic armed groups with newly formed anti-coup militias cut off key trading routes, seizing towns and dozens of outposts. For the first time, they are moving into areas the military once thought of as strongholds. Opposition forces now control half the country, advances that have never been achieved before.
    Following on from our two previous films charting the course of the resistance, we have unique access through our embedded camera team to capture the story at its most critical time, and chart the progress of these idealistic young people as they take on the military - once considered the most powerful army in Southeast Asia.

    I work with Karen and Rohingya students at a school in the United States and they're genuinely some of the kindest, most generous, and hardworking people. I hope that freedom and peace comes to Myanmar. Many have spent their childhoods in refugee camps. My ultimate dream is to go on a field trip with them to their country after the war is over to help rebuild.

      Clueless. Training guerrilla fighters in the US to ship back to fight an insurgency on the borders of a world superpower. You are either oblivious to the history of Vietnam or you work for a NGO/CIA. All those nice people you are bamboozling with American support to fight foreign conflicts so the MIC has forever wars should either stay and find a new life or go home and fight their own fights. Vietnam went on for decades, JFK was killed over trying to leave too early before the $ had been made, endless con-game. Imagine if Mexican cartel were flying to Russia to be trained by Russian NGOs on how to overthrow the Mexican government with Russian training and Russian arms and nice Russian NGO types like yourself leading the charge for overthrow, putting Russian tax payer $ into the effort so they can get to their eventual goal in the US one Mexico falls. You could not be more clueless friend.

No doubt they’re smart and hardworking people thou, After all of this is over I don’t mind them staying in this country, that’s of course they work hard and contribute to the country. But it’s hardly factual to call them the natives of this land, they came from Bangladesh.

      now think about why the US is funding their education in the US. once the war is over, those students will get US support to take key positions in Myanmars economy and politics.. and they will be doing what the US tells them to do. thats how the US controls other countries. They will help rebuild the country, yes. but they will also take away its independence and make it a colony.

I just hope that when the junta is ousted that the karen, pdf and others can come to some sort of compromise and not continue the conflict the people deserve peace

    Too bad Myanmar has no oil, otherwise the US would have intervened under the the democracy pretext. There's no telling which side the US will be on, though.

    • @MikeisaGoob
      @MikeisaGoob หลายเดือนก่อน

      Likely the US won't intervene at all but I guarantee you if they did they 100% would not support the military junta considering they are propped up and only survive via support from the CCP. It would make zero sense for America to work towards the interests of China and strengthen Chinese influence over the area.
