    Hey guys, John here with RealTruck.com. Today I want to show you how to install the UnderCover Swing Case Truck Bed Toolbox.
    Okay guys, we've got our Swing Case out of the box and you could take a look at it here and see what it is we're going to be putting in the truck. Some of the really nice things about it is that this is a hard case which is going to help protect stuff that you want to put in here to keep it out of the weather if you don't have Tonneau cover. If you do have a Tonneau cover, that's the other nice thing, you can install this with pretty much all types of Tonneau covers. Also you can see here the locking ability. You can take the key out and one of the neat things is that has a nice convenient tool tray in here. So that way you can keep stuff nice and handy where you need it. And if you're tailgating, you got the barbecue grill going, sitting on the tailgate, this thing guys, comes equipped with cup holders. How cool is that? So easy install and I'm going to show you how to do that right now.
    The first thing that we're going to do is start putting our case together and what we want to do is just take our hinge and our lock bracket and we want to attach those. And the way that we're going to do that is we're...you see on here the two studs that stick out of there. We're going to attach this in this direction and take the two whiz nuts that come with the kit and that's what we're going to put on here to hold this on. And once we get this on here we'll just tighten that up. And I'll show you exactly how that goes here in just a second. It's pretty quick and simple. Easy to do. Okay we have that on there. SO the next thing that we're going to be doing is attaching this to the truck. We need to know where we're going to put it. So we're going to hook it on here and get it set up where it's going to go.
    What we're going to is we don't want this sit completely right on the bed of the truck. So we want to bring it up just a little bit. Right about there and then what we'll do is once we have it up here in place is that you can either...the easiest way to do it is to actually open this up and so that way you can hold onto the lid to pull it up here a little bit or you can get somebody to give you a hand and help you with marking it. If you don't have anybody around, this method works. And mark that right there so we know where to put our first hole. Then what we're going to do is we're going to release this from the case and that is just a matter of pulling this lever and that will allow us to pull this off of our case and set it out off to the side. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

    You could also just place the box on a 2x4 and mount it. It's always handy to have spacing set to 2x4. It just works.

    Just installed my driver side case today....2019 F150.
    Piece of cake to install.....maybe 15-20 minutes.
    Great case for sure. No rattle or water incursion. LOVE it so far. I store photo gear (tripods/lenses etc) in it when out shooting for realtors and custom home builders. I use foam padding inside. Fantastic.

    My only issue with this is drilling holes into the box that wasn’t meant for it. Water or moisture will ingress and how will the water or moisture escape to prevent rusting over time ??

    Installation would have been a lot easier if you put a block under the case and then mark your holes, i.e a 2x4 would have worked for this installation. Also I noticed that the tie-down loop was covered by the bracket, perhaps going a little higher with the bracket would give better access if needed. Anyway quick and easy install. Thanks for the video.

    I like the ones that go in the ford truck as it utilizes existing holes in the Rick so you’re not drilling holes or trying to line anything up you just put the bolts in and it’s already lined up. It’s even easier on the ford truck. The only real difference is 1 you don’t have to have self tappers and 2 the dodge truck will need to utilize these boxes to store all the tow straps it will need so when they break down they can still get home. Lol......

      If you padlock it, they can’t. I just got one and it came with an additional key lock that fits into the hinges that will also stop it from swinging out, which would stop it from being lifted as well.

    Sometimes I see it fits not with a multipro tailgate on Sierra. Why? What is different?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! The driver side box would require you to remove the bed step handle that comes with the truck when you have the MultiPro tailgate, and since it requires removing a factory component, they consider it to not fit. Personally, we find that handle to be redundant since the shape of your rear stake pocket hole is shaped to function as a bed step handle already. If you choose to remove the factory MultiPro handle, the 1 bolt and 2 nuts that hold it on can be easily removed with a 13mm wrench. The passenger side box would install like a truck without the MultiPro, but if you have the bed outlet, it will be covered until you swing out the box. Hope that helps!

    How good will that work if your truck has a bed liner?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +manny6584 works just fine. You just have to screw through the liner to attach the mounting brackets. If you have the plastic drop in style of bedliner I would also put a bit of gasket sealer in the holes as well to help keep moisture and such from sneaking in around the screws.

    If a thief removes the swing bolts only need to pull release to access the front bolts. Not foolproof, but nothing is.

    • @SultanofSpey
      @SultanofSpey 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The box can be locked in place with a pad lock which would not allow the box to swing. This would deny a scumbag thief access to the front locking bolts. But nothing stops a determined thief (or raccoon).

    They're OK tool boxes for being cheap plastic, but the worst part is the factory won't sell the mounting brackets for another truck in case you buy something else and want to move them. That's pure chickenshit and I hope they go out of business.
