Just bought the Mazda3 Turbo Hatchback Premium Plus Package. Got an amazing deal on it. Even for $35k, this car is an EXCELLENT value for what you’re getting. The interior quality, the exterior quality, the design, the power, the looks, & AWD! Everything about this car is so great.

I also tested against the Lexus IS350 and Acura TLX A-spec and thought the Mazda was just as quiet but had a better feel and handling. Plus more features for less money.

@Dwayne501 the view is quite limited but there's multiple blind spot warnings (on the mirrors and the heads-up display as well as audible Blindspot warning system) that I never feel unsafe. Also, I really don't feel like I'm not able to physically see everything with the mirrors. Plus, the 360 camera is great. As a matter of fact, I almost didn't test drive it because I was worried about that but realized it was no problem after the test drive. I happened to prefer the dial system after having tested cars with a touch screen. I found that touch screens forced me to lean over and we're distracting whereas the dial is comfortably next to my hand and I have memorized how to navigate the system without looking. Also I happen to like the system's simplicity as compared to a bunch of eye candy but that's just me. I recommend you test drive and see if your concerns are answered or not too.

Just purchased a 2023 in gray. Can’t wait for it to be delivered. I’m going to see how hard it is to pull those chrome moldings and have them wrapped in black, also debaging the back.

I think Mazda should do a MazdaSpeed 3 with the suggestions you made throughout the video... to include a power passenger seat, rear AC/Heat and power points. The all-wheel drive is what the last Mazdaspeed 3 was missing. Lori did a great job capturing the paint of that car. Hard color to film.... great video!
This is the EXACT setup I want when I pick up my Mazda 3 turbo hatch. This color combo and aero package. It is GORGEOUS and pretty darn quick! Enthusiast car meets a mature and luxurious daily all in one for an affordable price. Cant wait to pick one up!

Currently, I have a 2018 Mazda3 hatchback with a manual transmission, I love it! It’s fun to drive and I occasionally surprise fast, more powerful cars because I can keep up with them!!! If Mazda made a turbo with a manual, I would trade mine in today, even with all the other zonks!!
Very nice detailed review! I had my Turbo 3 hatch (premium pack) for about 3 weeks now, loving every minute of it. I always drive my cars hard, been to track days and appreciate a good driving car more than straight speed. I bet you that most people and journalist wouldn't feel or know about the rear torsion setup even after driving the car for a while week. My last Mazda had a rear multilink and was on coils and I can't feel any difference.

As a former owner of a 2010 and 2013 Mazdaspeed 3.....I regret trading my last one in. They need to bring it back, plain and simple. 6 speed manual, wider tires and a performance active damper suspension would have me out to buy one tomorrow.

Great review, I’m looking into one of these, I currently have a 14 Fiesta ST on Cobb stage 2 and sticky Michelin pilot sport A/C-4, I really love my ST, it’s been a great car, many road trips, just did 2,496 mile trip to Oregon, it was bullet proof at 93,000 miles on it. I’m sure they’ll be some after market bolt ons to make it go faster, I love the body style and interior.
I think it’s a great looking hatch! I’m not even a hatch person myself but this one catches my eye. I just wish it did have that manual transmission but what else is new? 🤷🏾♂️
I agree with Brent, I watch Joe's videos even on cars I am not interested in. He is the best. But can we talk about why car manufacturers put gloss black in the front of their cars. The grill and the extension below the lower grill are going to look like hell after a year, especially if you live in the Northeast.
Most likely because a lot of people complain about chrome, especially on more sporty cars, so automakers just gloss black everything out. Me personally I don't have any problems with chrome but many do.
It’s very very comfortable - I have the benefit of directly comparing it to the CX5 as I have both in the garage. Let me tell ya... the 3 wins hands down over CX5 on seat comfort and the cushy middle front armrest/console. The big fail for the 3 is that there is no power for passenger front seat in 3. Heck there isn’t even a manual lever to adjust height ..... that’s a zonk. Aside from that the 3 is a fine place to ride in... even at triple digit speeds MPH out on interstate it’s quiet and composed.
Unfortunately this isnt a mazda speed 3 but this is far better I think. You cant go wrong with a black white color combo. Always looks great on any car
Thanks! Great review. I'm a manual guy-but also want AWD since I'll be living in the Sierra in a few years-some snow from time to time-and dirt roads. At least its NOT CVT!
Have this in the sedan, love it! Great commuter car thats fun to drive everyday and can't wait till companies like Corksport have more performance parts out for it.
I have the 100th anniversary hatch. 2 yrs now and it's great! Amazing lil car...but if they don't make it 'hotter' for the next gen, then I may go with the golf R for my next ride.
I literally just bought this car (same white with the SEXY red interior) and man, it's a quality GT hatch. This reminds me of an even more refined MK5 R32 with ever better performance.
Yeah all black lettering and trim. Are they listening? I have a 2014 Mazda 3 sport. Love it. Might get another one as it is the biggest bang for your buck.
Yeah that wheel is too small for this type of hatch and I do agree that blacked out emblems and bigger infotainment screen would make it look better. I'm going to have to pass on this one because of the cramped rear seats and no connectivity. Although I do love that interior especially with the red seats.
Lori good job on this camera we wish perfection in cars was always there and never miss an opportunity when it comes to building cars but love the Masda 3 Turbo wish back seat passengers didn't suffer due to the lack of A/C and connectivity but it's a dandy!
Your best bet is to run a dual port battery charger from the cigarette lighter in the center console so 2 phones in the back can charge. Onboard WiFi hot spot is available in the new Mazda3 too (for a fee).
My previous car was an arrest-me red 2008 Speed 3, purchased new for a ridiculously low price of $20K due to the horrific recession. I owned it for 7 1/2 years and 128K miles, loving every minute of it. The car needed only two things: AWD and a COBB tune to bring the HP to 300. AWD was not an option but the tune would have been had I known about it then. The torque steer was not a big deal to me. Current car is an APR Stage 2 tuned MK 7 Golf R which Joe reviewed in 2017 (video is in his library).
Not having a touchscreen is done on purpose. It's for safety purposes. Just like having a heads up display, which this hatch has. They want you eyes on the road looking straight ahead. Which is exactly why they developed this way. Not a zonk!
The Soul isn’t a competitor to this car. I think you may be interested in the CX30. Sits up a bit higher and more airy than the 3. It does have ventilated seats. There’s your Soul competitor....
Great review, Lori and Joe. Sharp looking ride. Have enjoyed my '09 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 GT ever since driving it off the lot 11+ years ago. Only thing I'd call a zonk is the ON THROTTLE torque steer from the 265 Hp 280 Ft-Lb 2.3 L turbo engine w/6-speed short throw manual.
I think the reason there’s no rear ac vents or usb connectivity is cuz of how tight the cabin is, so the front ac vents are close enough to the rear passengers to feel the ac pretty good and rear passengers are close enough to use the front usb connections as well….
USB in center armrest. Is the one for the back passengers. AC is more than effective since they use the same component as the cx5 cx9 cx30. So the additional vents aren't really required.
You know that I'm gonna attack that worthless, primitive and limiting TORSION BEAM SUSPENSION (TBS)...again! I was trading 3, yes 3 of our family's Mazda 3 Hatches (2014, 2016 and 2018) for a set of 2020's. We all road tested the new T.B.S. and HATED the lack of feel and the sense of the back end breaking loose under extreme corner loading. You are the ONLY reviewer that has hammered this point perfectly and repeatedly. KUDOS!!! That alone puts you above every other reviewer, who sugar coated the truth about its much dumbed down handling. We didn't "zonk" the suspension, we zonked the Mazda 3, period. We ended up buying 2 Civics and a Lexus, all with I.R.S. And spent our nearly $100k elsewhere.
@@RaitisRides and thank YOU for educating ALL of us. When we decided to ditch Mazda, it was your reviews on the Honda Civic Hatchback, EX-T Coupe and Lexus UX that help us pull the trigger on each unit.
I don't drive a lot because I only have a learners permit but where I do in Arizona, there are not many curvy roads which makes the driving experience so bland, there needs to more action in driving by including the kind of roads you're working with Joe, lol :)
Poor Mazda...they can't catch a break. Reviewers: "It's great, but too slow with the 1.5L engine". Mazda: "OK, here's the 2.0L." "Still too slow." "OK, here's the 2.5L making 180 HP". "Nice car, but still too slow, needs a turbo!" "OK, here's the 2.5L Turbo making 320 FT-LBS of Torque." "Mmm, hmm, well, still would be great with a stick and 300 HP too!" "ARRRRRGGGGHHH!! WHAT MOAR MUST WE DO!"
They are a small company selling very few vehicles but they sure work hard doing the best of the best with the budget they have. I worked for mazda and is one of the best reliable cars and designed like art.
Yes Joe it would've really been nice if they just called it a MazdaSpeed3 not close the Speed Division. I'm telling you I really enjoyed the 1st Mazda I had, don't know if I've said already that I've been through an accident in it 03/10; the 2010 Mazda 3 S Hatchback is no more unfortunately so I'm very saddened. I pray you and Lori have been well. I've underestimated Mazda for so many years but loving their old ZoomZoom commercials and the Miata, CX-7, but after finally having the 3 hatcback my eyes have been opened. I finally took a look at your 1st review of the Mazda 1st edition you reviewed of this (I haven't looked at a car review since the whole incident). Even learned from you they're the 1st Japanese automaker to win 24hrs LeMans. That's alot of clout. Didn't know that about Mazda before. As a replacement of what I loss due to accident (thankfully deemed not my fault) is a 2013 MazdaSpeed3 with tech package. So much convenience&power packed into 1 package, and what I remember most from the 3 I had was the handling and how you could turn literally almost anywhere.
Had a 2020 M3 hatch AWD. Although not turbo, Mazda has lost its tight turn feel. Drove a turbo and same thing. 2013 M3, really fun to drive. Mazda needs to bring back the tight driving feel. Also, infotainment knob control a pain in the neck. And no AC vent in rear. Only owned the 2020 M3 10 months. Really miss the old zoom-zoom feel. As always, great review.
Make a true 3 speed. There are so many “duplicate” auto makers in the market. Make something that stands outs and you’ll earn the market share. Great work Joe & Lori!

I agree with Brent, I watch Joe's videos even on cars I am not interested in. He is the best. But can we talk about why car manufacturers put gloss black in the front of their cars. The grill and the extension below the lower grill are going to look like hell after a year, especially if you live in the Northeast.
That really means a lot Patrick! I totally agree with you!
Most likely because a lot of people complain about chrome, especially on more sporty cars, so automakers just gloss black everything out. Me personally I don't have any problems with chrome but many do.
Nice review! Mazda makes great cars and that interior looks nice and fresh!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Hey Joe, big fan here.
When will you talk about the new Mazda MX-30 that was announced today?
Have this in the sedan, love it! Great commuter car thats fun to drive everyday and can't wait till companies like Corksport have more performance parts out for it.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Your reviews are not just great, but tastefully hilarious!
I have the 100th anniversary hatch.
2 yrs now and it's great! Amazing lil car...but if they don't make it 'hotter' for the next gen, then I may go with the golf R for my next ride.
Nice job as always Joe.also would be great if you could do 0-60, specially with the performance cars
This one is about five and a half seconds 0-60. The CX30 turbo is in the same ballpark....
Nice, makes a great daily!
I love it my boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video 💯funny 💯😄😆🤣
Thanks brother man!
Always awesome review! Got a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring reserve and love it ! Keep it up Joe !!
I agree with you. A manual transmission would be great.
You are a wise man!
I literally just bought this car (same white with the SEXY red interior) and man, it's a quality GT hatch. This reminds me of an even more refined MK5 R32 with ever better performance.
Ever since I got a ms3 I’ve loved watching Mazda excel as a car brand, great review as always👍
Car Manufacturers : *uses other colors besides black*
Raiti's Rides : *So you've chosen Zonk*
Yeah all black lettering and trim. Are they listening? I have a 2014 Mazda 3 sport. Love it. Might get another one as it is the biggest bang for your buck.
The 2021 mazda 3 turbo for me is the new "mazdaspeed" 🔥👍🏿
Great car, but no Mazdaspeed. The point of Mazdaspeed is to be silly. And Manual. The current Mazda3 is neither silly nor Manual with the good engine.
Thanks for giving Lori some support!
You're welcome Lory you should've gotten an Oscar for best Camera Queen.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Not having a touchscreen is done on purpose. It's for safety purposes. Just like having a heads up display, which this hatch has. They want you eyes on the road looking straight ahead. Which is exactly why they developed this way. Not a zonk!
Great review Joe, but a ZONK for no ventilated front seats. Bro 33K on a 2021 no ventilated seats? But in 2014 Kia put them in the soul!. Come on man!
Look at the competition and NONE of them have ventilated seats.
@@RaitisRides Agreed Joe but like I stated Kia did in 2014 Soul! Why not Mazda 7 yrs later. Guess I keep the Soul! Lol.
The Soul isn’t a competitor to this car. I think you may be interested in the CX30. Sits up a bit higher and more airy than the 3. It does have ventilated seats. There’s your Soul competitor....
@@buchajo I am fully aware my 2014 Soul! Is not a competitor. I'm referring only to the options I mentioned.
Perfection ❤️👌
Still undecided if i will go CX-30 or MAZDA 3 GT?
Great review, Lori and Joe. Sharp looking ride. Have enjoyed my '09 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 GT ever since driving it off the lot 11+ years ago. Only thing I'd call a zonk is the ON THROTTLE torque steer from the 265 Hp 280 Ft-Lb 2.3 L turbo engine w/6-speed short throw manual.
excellent smooth camera work, Lauren.
Great looking front end, then you went to lunch and forget to shape the sides and rear end a big zonk fro me, will wait for for a all new refresh.
I can totally understand that!
just got the exact same car 2 months ago. love it! Cant wait for the aftermarket parts to come out for this thing!
You Crack me up man. Keep up the great work, and I will keep watching.
I wish mazda made the front of the sedan like in this hatchback but unfortunately they didn’t try to make it aggressive
You know what’s not a zonk, RAITI’S RIDES!
That is so very awesome of you to say! Thanks for sharing your great experience!
@@RaitisRides and thank YOU for educating ALL of us. When we decided to ditch Mazda, it was your reviews on the Honda Civic Hatchback, EX-T Coupe and Lexus UX that help us pull the trigger on each unit.
Joe, don't ya know anything Mazda is the better option.🤩
Nice call mike!
I hear you man, but when it comes to cars, all we need to see is, if your face can't stop smiling. And you definitely could in this car.
Amazing car Mazda makes quality product and fun to drive made in Japan 🇯🇵 from my own experience Mazda quality is top reliable product 👍👍👍👍👍
AGREED!
The experts agree with your experience too - rated number one most reliable vehicle in 2020 - Mazda.
im 43 Joe but im still a young hatchback at heart!
This does stand out. Sit in it. Test drive it and see. Looking at a picture of it on a phone doesn’t really do it much justice.
