I knew someone who did that one minute the dog was allowed on the couch then the next it wasn’t. It was maddening to hear her treat her dog that way

I have 2 GSD mixes, one loves hugs and cuddles the other doesn’t she just wants pets. Just the other day while I was out 3 young kids had asked if they could pet my dog. I told them not all dogs like hugs, some get scared but he loves them. He was in heaven as 3 kids pet hugged and loved on him. He is a total ham.

I have a dog that will hug me if I don't do it first, he is a little bit of an odd one though and has severe separation anxiety. I am his favorite person so he loves to be as close to me as possible.

I learned a few good tips from you, but was concerned with three stories giving out treats. Treats are good, but we learned the hard way it's not good to do all the time.

My dog has extreme separation anxiety even with being around other animals and people. I also couldn't let him stay with anyone else or have anyone watch over him bc if he's not with me he has seizures due to severe separation anxiety due to me being in the hospital away from him for about 3months. There's only 3 other people he trusts to be around and we'll even then he seizes and whines/cries till I come home. We've taken him to 3 diff vets and they all say the best they can do is give medicine that will help calm him a lil but won't help with seizures or the whining. I also can't leave him for more than 3hrs or he panics granted when he was little he was terrified of everyone even me till about 3 days of having him, he was also very nasty smelling and looking and he was just a puppy and sitting with him letting him come when he wanted feeding/watering him and giving him his own comfy lil spot. Of course I showered him right away but after I let him have his own space. The longest I had been away from him before my accident was about a month and that was bc I went to 2 different summer camps and when I came home surprisingly he started to like everyone else but I guess it never couple beat me lol. He loves hugs, cuddles, kisses, playing fetch and going on walks his most favorite thing tho is pulling me in my wheelchair and car rides. He's a lil over about 10 years now and struggles to jump in vehicles so he has to have a lil boost sometimes now but still to this day he listens very good but he's still a dog and loves kids so he sometimes goes next door to say hi. Even as I'm typing this he's laying on my feet waiting for us to go get his other hooman from work.😂❤😊

Dogs or cats Don't like putting lot water on their face during their bath. Use wet cloth or hand to clean their face especially eyes

I am laughing because my dog is the one always hugging me. I don't understand why people leave dogs alone for a long time. That's very selfish.

In short: take your time to read the mind of your (of any) dog, as it reads you.
The last one is truly a good tip (and connects to the yelling): as social animals, a dog prefers stable conditions in the pack, a clear, defined ranking in the group.
Inconsistent rules, inconsistent ranking, really confuses.
Now I am not allowed to breathe, now i get away with outright domination over the leader of the pack, where is my place?
You force the dog into a constant fight for the ranking without you knowing what is going on.
And you should not let your bad mood spill on your innocent dog. That is mental abuse You angry (on him) when he did nothing wrong - confusion. But also not overwhelm him with kisses for absolutely nothing.
When we are at it, you should make clear you are in charge, you are the leader of the pack, you are the institution that does the decisions and NOT the dog.
Otherwise, when you flee flom that role, your (unhappy) dog has to take over, protect the pack.
When your dog is barking at other people/dogs or jumping at them, you must take your time and demonstrate you are in control. When you found out the rhythm of your dog, when he does what he shall NOT do, then you have to reign in your dog BEFORE it starts to growl. "Nooooo, you don't do nothing. Keeeep quiet", shorten the leash. You must be AHEAD of your dog. That cares for stability. My master is there, he watches out for us. All is good.
And then train the situation, look for the contact. YOU control the situation. YOU dominate over the others. That is to be proven.
Dogs feel insecurity way better than we do ourselves. They feel when we evade situations.
And the same happens with kids. They also need stable conditions, know their place. That rules are there, they are stable, they apply to all. That you cannot trick around to avoid them. That you get justly punished when you do bad stuff that harms others, and do not get hurt for no reason, no reason other than out of mere bad mood.
