Who's ready for an incredible three-way drag race?!
Mat’s sitting in the latest Nissan GT-R NISMO, and this week he’s lining up alongside a Honda NSX and a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
All 3 of these cars are packing some serious power! Starting with the GT-R NISMO, it’s powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 600hp & 652Nm of torque. It weighs in at 1,703kg - slightly less than the Honda NSX, which is 1,759kg! The NSX has a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 plus three electric motors, meaning altogether it produces a combined output of 581hp & 645Nm.
And then finally we have the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which time and time again has crushed its competition in our drag races! It’s got a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine that puts down 650hp & 800Nm, making it the most powerful car in this line-up. It’s also the lightest car here too, weighing 1,640kg.
So you’d probably back the Porsche to win, right? Well, we’ll see if that’s the case… LET'S RACE!

The fact that a 15 year old GT-R is still competing with cars todays is impressive. Kudos to Nissan engineers.
10-12 years ago the GT-R was close to unbeatable. Time for a new model now, even though it still is quick.
Definitely was one of the greatest feats of engineering when the r35 first came out 14 years ago. Unconventional boxy design, heavy weight and relatively cheap compared to other cars of the same specs at the time. Even then it was better than the rest. The rest have now caught up and is much more advanced now, it's now time for the r35 to retire.

Not really. Porsche 911 Turbo & GT2, SL 65 AMG, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Bentley Continental were all faster back in 2007-2008
The performance of the GTRs are overhyped especially the R35. They need +150-200hp to beat a stock Porsche or Ferrari.

63 kg lighter than the gtr, 119 kg lighter than the nsx
Also, nsx is 3.5 lt, instead of 3.8. Fair comparison? Not at all. The only race that should happen, should be between gtr and nsx. Also, nsx did fine considering it's power to weight ratio

911 also have one of the best form engine designed. It had the smoothness of inline, box shape is compact like a V designed engine, torque from low all the way to red line. The chassis is as great as the engine. This is almost an art in the car world.

What is so magnificent about a car that rely on electronics to boost its performance? Give me a break! Without its AWD system the acceleration of the 992 Turbo S isn't that impressive. Even a McLaren 600LT (which is older and feature less power) beats it in some performance metric, such as 100-200km/h acceleration.

The GTR doesn't seem to have evolved much. I'm sure when it came out it would have put up a good fight with the 911 of the day. But Porsche have really moved the game on.

I've seen Porsche 911 turbo s win so many races that at this point it's just obvious. What an absolute piece of finest engineering!!
Ya the 911 stacks well spec wise on this but not always needed as a metric. What's an 89 911 sound like I remember some being quite loud but maybe it was just exhaust. Although I think it had more to do with the cats and whatever the EPA was doing at the time and then they made them quiet in the 90s.

I would argue the Honda V6 is the ‘best’ V6 in terms of longevity. Honda is always finding a balance between power and longevity. I’m sure a tune would wake the NSX up. A tune would go a long way for that car. Could increase the output of the batteries if you increased cooling, which alone could nearly double the torque if tuned right. And the engine itself has turbos that could be tuned. Granted the others could be tuned too, but I think the NSX has more room to grow than the other two.
Get a laser to measure the close breaking comparisons, you just put it in front of the car and set a line if the other car is hit by the light it's further if not its behind, costs like nothing and is precise if you set it in a 90degree angle

Watch out for reliability issues cause german cars are crap. I never had issues with japanese cars.

I hope carwow features the new NSX Type S in the future. Quite unfair to just feature a base model NSX to go against the strongest variants of the GT-R and 911.

Before watching the race, this is gonna be the same as the Rimac v Aventador v NSX from Grand Tour: it's a race to find out who'd be last, NSX or Lambo (in this case GTR)
Going against the turbo s is literally a race for second place, all the time😭
Unless it's a rolling race against a 720s or 765lt!! I think thats the only car that has beaten the turbo s at anything acceleration wise, and even then the mclaren would lose the 1/4 mile!!

It has like 3 engines, is slower than a car launched in 2007, and at 1760kg probabily isn't going to post any top end laptimes. Costs as much as a turbo S lol. Yeah, it's amazing, amazingly rubish!

Nsx sounds the best. I was reading about the original NSX design new sports car experiment and how Senna helped refine it . The way Honda went about designing that thing is an interesting read... If you dig engineering or cars.
You really need to set up a race between the Turbo S and the McLaren 765LT....I've been waiting to see that race happen.

Much more interesting would be a real track timing with production cars, but alas tesla only does them with stripped and modified cars not the production vehicles. Afaik the plaid didnt do any good times at nürburgring.

The Type S will be a little faster. For a noteworthy improvement go with the base BSX with race tires & the Science of Speed JB4 module & exhaust upgrade where race gas tiukds 700 hp with 0-60 in 2.6. See the YT video to verify.

Carwow did do a normal NSX vs normal GTR video 4 years ago. That white NSX performed much better than this orange one with a 10.8sec 1/4 mile and I won't spoil the rest, you just watch.

every time i see the 911 turbo i click so fast , my favorite car of all time something about the car attracts me so much not sure what it is but ever since i was 8 years old i always loved it, i only need Porsche 911 turbo s and i could care less about any other car.
