Nicely done, and well explained. Learnt a lot in just a couple of minutes.
What I'm curious about is how a sommelier sources wines? Not the big names, they speak for themselves. But it's those small producers, hidden gems etc.
Great question and probably a good topic for another video. It varies from market to market, particularly if considering not USA, but a sommelier can contact local vendors to identify who sells (or would be willing to sell) a specific wine. This would include big names, but also wineries the sommelier has visited, been referred to, or knows from prior experience. Some items can be purchased on the secondary market, particularly Bordeaux, and some states allow purchasing from private sellers and directly from wineries. Vendors will also bring wines and winemakers to the sommelier for tasting in hopes of making a sale. I could discuss the topic deeper if you have any more specific questions, but perhaps I shall share it in video form someday!
