You should add a $1000 budget for these videos. From $500 to $5000 is a big leap. I feel there are a lot of people in the $1000 budget range. It’s a good budget for good champagne, white, red and maybe even dessert wine or a rose champagne for dessert

Amarone benefits from 10 to 1000 years of age…. So awesome. Great list.

Great balance with the know-how and the humour. Also nice to see Musar on the list, coincidentally a vintage I once had. I'm more in favour of their whites though. If you like oxidative try Georgian qvevri Rkatsiteli or Mtsvane wines.

Look into doing one for restaurant Latour in Nj. One of the largest old first growth Bordeaux lists in the country

I was on a business trip to Amsterdam and visited a great wine bar and bought a bottle of Todonia (current red vintage) and the barkeeper called me to the bar and offered me a glass of the Blanco that a guest opened earlier that day and did not finish for free.
    I was awestruck.

Troy, just saw a video eerily similar to your style on Attorney Somm’s channel. Not sure if you cared or not!
Great video as always. I’ve only been to Cote NYC.

Thank you very much for watching and supporting! I’m happy to see another content creator on TH-cam engaging with wine this way, especially since it’s such a subjective topic. I’m honored to inspire another channel!

This was really fun to watch! Thanks for mixing it up!! Make sure to say hi to Mia when you visit Cote Miami. Those BTG magnum specials are pretty dope.

Interesting and educational video as always but I must admit I'm a bit disappointed you didn't consider any of the South African options on offer. I'm definitely biased but I saw some absolutely excellent bottles on the Cote wine list.

Always find these videos fascinating. Just a correction: Musar is not a Bordeaux blend. It's Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. Recently had a bottle of 2001 red which was sublime.

I just discovered these "Diving Into the Wine List" videos. They're really great. I love the Quintarelli vs Dal Forno head to head- what a great idea. Just wanted to make a correction- 2001 is the current release for Lopez de Heredia Blanco Gran Reserva. This was released in 2021 along with the Gran Reserva reds. The red and white riservas, as well as the Gran Reserva rosé, are released with around 10 years of age. You'll occasionally see listings of LdH Gran Reservas on WineSearcher from younger vintages, but these are false listings! Keep up the great work!

@@TroysTastingRoom Also, something to note, the price quoted on the menu is very good. Not sure what these cost wholesale, but the prices of these Gran Reserva blanco skyrocketed recently. They're usually up around $400-$500 per bottle. So getting it off the wine list at the restaurant would actually be cheaper!

Hey Troy, I’m planning to visit Michelin restaurants Purnells and Adam’s in Birmingham, England this year. If you fancy doing a uk wine list I could follow your advise up to £500 for wine 👍

At times during your videos there will be a "break out" graphic that shows detailed info on the terroir vintage etc. (see graphic at 3mins). Is that a particular resource or application? I always enjoy seeing that info. Thank you! keep up the great work.

I usually pull that data from the tech sheets, either from the producer or importer’s website! They can be a pain to find, if they’re online at all, especially for older vintages. Usually searching the wine name and “.pdf” on google can get me there if I don’t already know the importer posts it. Beware, as the tech sheet is not always useful! Hope that helps!

    • @TroysTastingRoom
      @TroysTastingRoom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I would like to! I have a few on the list, such as Enoteca Pinchiori! Many EU restaurants I’ve looked at do not post a menu/wine list online, so it’s a bit tough, but would love to go worldwide!

Very surprised to see the Tinto Negro Limestone block on a michelin star winelist! It’s one of the malbec’s we sell at my work, i must say not my favorite wine, pretty basic (but well made) Mendoza malbec.
