Hello Hans! Thanks to your review I decided to buy this G815 keyboard on April 2020. We are in June 2022 now and I do not regret this keyboard at all. I love it, the keys have not really worn off and I use it every day. I have the tactile one. So basically I just wanted to tell you that I love your review since it is not exaggerated and has stood the test of time.
Sold me on this product. Watched a few reviews but you hit on the two points I care about most: Productivity & Games. Thank you for talking through the productivity points. Very helpful! Also, that voice 😍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m glad the productivity aspect helped you out - it certainly stood out for me 😎 What a lovely compliment. Thank you 🙏🏻
This is the perfect keyboard for me and I'm sure many others because it has the super useful macro keys on the left side just like the Corsair k95 platinum but this also has the brilliant low profile key's which I prefer. There are some missed chances in that the scroll wheel surround could have used some of that nice rgb lighting but apart from that small niggle this is the PERFECT keyboard. The other BIG mistake Logitech made is that the secondary character keys like the comma, full stop etc do not light up! Seriously WTF Logitech what are you thinking or not thinking but apart from that this keyboard is simply PERFECT.
Dude you are awesome! Your video was the best out of all of the others I watched. It is really great to know ZA is pushing out some quality content! Thanks Hans
I really appreciate this review. I've had such a hard time deciding on what keyboard to purchase. I just got a Ducky One 2 and it's fine, but I get tangled up in the high-rise keys, and I'm going to return it. I have been looking for a good low-profile keyboard (plus I'm a Logitech fan anyway), and you have just made up my mind for me. Thanks. :)
I have to admit that I clicked on this review because you look German on the TMB nail, then I see your name is German and then your voice is South African! Blown away!
I bought one for myself, it's really expensive but I work typing all day long and I also play games and use G keys. So far the best keyboard I had so far.
USB pass-through will not allow you to take less spots on your computer...the pass-through connector is taking this space. It will give you better access to one USB port at the keyboard itself...
Thanks for this great review, I'v been wondering if it would be just as good for productivity since I don't play games & you've answered my question. 😀
I'm the type of the guy who got a standard mechanical tactile switch (Romer-G) and waiting to see and decide if i'm more of a linear or clicky switch fan, and oh boy those clicky switches sound sooo good and pleasing! Can't wait to get the keyboard. Currently using G413 Silver for 4 years and it's an amazing keyboard, I really loved it. Too bad it got some slight chattering on a few keys, but it happens like 1 in 50 presses, so it's still not that serious of an issue. 4 years is a long time and G413 has lasted me so well.
If you're watching this and you're about 90% sold already but hesitant of a Logitech brand, mind you, I used a Logitech G110 keyboard since 2010 and works like a charm to this day. I only upgraded to this recently because well, why not.
@@DO-LTU yes. the best keyboard i have ever owned. I have owned many mechanicals and i love this one so much. my only complaint is the RGB software. noy user friendly and something need the app running instead of onboard memory which sucks. Corsair's RGB software is easier to understand.
@@DO-LTU just know that I do think it's still too much money for a keyboard. it is way too expensive but I still love it a lot. I bought the one with red switches. Another thing I do not like about it are the macro keys but whatever. I hope you enjoy yours!
Fantastic video. As are many other of the commenters, I am genuinely shocked to see such a high quality video from such a small channel! Easily expected to see a K on the end of your subscriber count (991 at the time of commenting). Incredibly well put together, great information, demonstration and opinions of the product portrayed. Gave me all the information I needed on the G815. I wish you all the best and hope you soon get the attention your channel deserves!
Thank you for the incredibly detailed, well articulated and constructive comment. I appreciate it, as it helps me better my craft. In time, success will come. Until then, I’m lucky to have viewers like yourself who choose to watch and leave positive feedback. Thank you again Emerson.
I think this will be my next keyboard. I've been eyeing keyboards for a few months now since my K70's keypad just yeeted itself into oblivion for no apparent reason, and it flat out fully died today... It really does look like the perfect keyboard for me. Nice and flat, option for linear switches, G keys, macro keys, volume whee (love those), media keys, addressable LEDs, sleek design, passthrough USB............. What's not to love?! It'll definitely be an upgrade to this old Dell keyboard from like 2005 I've had to fall back on xD. Cheers for the review my guy
@@theolodger Basically, I spilled a literal single drop of tea on the numberpad, it messed up the circuitry and would spam every single key on the numpad ad infinitum. I had to use the Windows registry to completely disable the numpad :(
Thanks for the feedback, Bio. I hope the channel will grow in time. I’m so keen to try out the G915 (wireless version). I’ve only heard good things about it.
Love the vid bro. Looking forward to getting a tactile one... unfortunately not in the vid but that's fine I have done my research. U deserve more subs.
Just bought this keyboard with browns and I love it. Theo boy thing I don’t like is how the lights under the keys are a lot more blue and the one on the Logitech logo.
Holy crap they are loud! Thanks for the review and key-press sound sample... I remember the annoying click click of keyboards back in the 80's, It's a pitty it's so hard to find a good quiet keyboard these days :( ... still hangin' onto my Logitech G19 for now ;)
I have the linear G915 (basically the same keyboard, exept wireless) and it's not that loud. A tiny bit louder than a fairly quiet membrane keyboard. It's also better than other linear keyboards since it bottoms out quickly and with a short distance, allowing for faster typing and not needing a tactile bump that prevents you from bottoming out. The tactile and clicky versions of the G915 are also not as loud as regular clicky and tactile keyboards.
The one thing that I hate about keyboard reviews is the key test, while we get to hear the keys being pressed, it is clear the sound is specifically focused at the keys and it makes them louder than they actually are. I have the clicky one and these are not that bad in terms of sound. They are notable, but that auditory feed back is nice especially when typing up documents, you can just tell you hit the wrong key before your brain registers the typo on screen. No one is going to be in absolute silence while using these keys anyway, so the sound test is skewed in a non-production environment. not knocking your review, its a great review that is a fact. My comment is more aimed towards keyboard reviews in general.
Thank you for the great feedback. In retrospect, I actually do agree with you. Should I be lucky enough to review keyboards in future, I’ll take this into consideration. Maybe have the mic placed in different places, like in the corner of the room vs at head height, and so on. It’s a good idea actually. So thank you 😊
Great review! I have the g915 tactile and boy do I love this thing! Being able to use Bluetooth and light speed is a blessing since I use the light speed for my pc and Bluetooth for my iPad.
I had been using Logitech "Easy Keyboard Deluxe" Y-SM46 (I think it is membrane keyboard but,..) this keyboard is very old and very cheap, I believe it had been purchased around 2004 and it is still working (well, because I didn't use the keyboard since 2010 up to 2020), yes somehow the keyboard laying around for 10 years, I found it and tested it and woah, it still works but scroll lock. Logitech had earned my trust because this current old keyboard, now it is time to take "super jump", I buy Logitech G815 today, hope it doesn't have any problem (will arrives in 2 days). For me who came from really old membrane keyboard, this keyboard maybe something else for me. Maybe you want to asked me, why did you using this old keyboard for very long time? Well, it still working and I never taste any new keyboard. Why upgrade it now? Well, I want to increase my typing experience and I want to be more productive. Currently my average typing speed is 75 WPM, the highest is 120 WPM.
Great review! You mentioned frequently that this keyboard is great for productivity, but do you have any examples of how it’s helped you other than switching to a design app? I’m a full time photographer and videographer, I’m wondering if the macro keys would be useful for making shortcuts for tools in Lightroom and Premiere and if the keyboard is good at changing shortcut programming depending on which program I’m using? Thanks in advance!
Christopher Setter Using Logitechs “G-Hub” Software you can set the G-Keys to do whatever you want. Open programs, using a shortcut inside of Photoshop, Lightroom or Premiere or even your own macros to launch multiple shortcuts at the press of a single key if you want. You also have the option to set a profile for each specific software you’re using. I’m just an amateur photographer but I use this functionality quite often, especially in Lightroom.
Thanks for watching Christopher, and apologies for not being able to respond sooner. Michael has pretty much summed it up 💁🏼♂️ The G-Hub software is pretty powerful 😎. It allows you to program different profiles (potentially for different apps) each with their own unique keyboard shortcuts. It therefore makes it super easy to, for example, have a profile for Final Cut with a series of programmed shortcuts to work with, before switching to another profile geared towards Pixelmator Pro/Lightroom/any other app. Obviously it would not be an automatic change, and you would need to take the time to program the profiles and shortcuts for the apps you use most frequently 😀. Once done, however, you’ll wonder how you lived without it before 😂
@@HansHaupt @Michael Pott Thanks so much for your replies! Your answers were exactly what I was looking for :D I couldn't find any information on the customization of the keys for use in editing programs on Logitech's site or on other reviews. I have the MX Master mouse (game changer in terms of productivity), and it's great to hear that this keyboard has the similar functionality.
I have issues with my own Corsair k55 RGB pro gaming keyboard. It switches off at random times for 5 sec and then turns on. It's really frustrating to die and lose games just because you can't do anything for 5 sec. I decided to check out one local elections shop and see, if they have anything good gaming keyboards on sale and would you know it I found Logitech G815 for only 80€ on sale. So should I buy it than?
There the a high chance I'll get this keyboard. Kinda like the low profile but not the width of it. Uses too much of table space =/ Cool review btw, just nice when I'm researching around.
You might want to check out the G915 TKL then. It’s got the same look and switches the g815 has but loses the numpad and (unfortunately) the usb passthrough. It also is a wireless keyboard using Logitech’s lightspeed tech with 1ms response time. (Speaking from experience, using the older G613, there’s no noticeable input lag from it) But it is a bit more expensive than the g815 (about $30 US if you buy directly from Logitech)
Hey Hans. First of all, greetings from South Africa. So this is a quite.... quite expensive keyboard. It looks great and all, but I really need to know if I can justify spending R3000 to R4000 on a keyboard for work😂 I need something low profile for that tiny little boost in typing speed, but also something that's quiet so that I don't disturb people around me. I'm very hesitant to spend so much money on something. Would you happen to have any other recommendations? I'm also considering a Keychron K1, Hexgear X-1 or Logitech MX Keys.
I have the linear and God do they feel bad to type on. it's so mushy or the actuation force is just too high recently got the ducky one 3 cherry browns and that's feels night and day better
i just got Hyperx elite Rgb and its wonderful and one of the best for typing. i dont have to use a lot of pressure when typing but but theres a big but. Its not compatible with mac os. and it sucks big time. And I cant do much. So my question is how is typing experience on Logitech, it has low profile compare to Hyperx, which is a big plus when you type and code a lot. Thanks in advance.
i like the rain effect gigabyte has but you cant get on logi would be great if the scroll wheel could be scroll webpages and g1 button to be left click or double click
Yes, you absolutely can. As KingSoneca mentioned, it is possible with the G Hub software. In the Lightsync settings there is an option called “Screen Sampler”. Enabling it will cause the RGB of the keyboard to sync to whatever is currently on your display. It works incredibly well too.
Recently bought one of these off Mercari. Great keyboard in aesthetics and function. Only problem is the "w" key sometimes double types or chatters at times. Anyone have the same experience? Any solid fixes?
I like the keyboard, but I’ll just have to correct you here: Logitech did NOT develop the GL seitches. They are just rebranded kailh choc switches, which are still very nice.
It doesn't use PBT keycaps, let alone doubleshot PBT keycaps. The keys, like ALL OTHER logitech keyboards in the recent past - will be very glossy, and will wear off, and become nearly see-though. The keyboard is entirely non-modular, meaning you cannot repair or replace the switches in the board. They are custom switches, used by Logitech in an attempt to make it non-modular. It certainly does not reduce the cost of production or shipping. It's purely to spite you, and force you to return to them directly for repair. For this price, this keyboard, like most Logitech keyboards, is an embarrassment.
Denkst du, die Tastatur ist besser als die Roccat Vulcan 122? Muss mich zwischen eine von denen entscheiden, lese aber, dass der Lack von den Tasten schnell abgehen soll.
The Roccat Vulcan is a great keyboard. I have a friend with the Vulcan and it is good. Personally I would go with the Logitech since that is the brand I prefer.
To clarify, I meant that you don’t really “lose” a port on your computer because of the pass through. Although plugging in the keyboard takes up a USB slot, the pass through effectively means you still have an open port.
I have this keyboard - few things - without backlit you can't see any numbers, and special chars don't lit up, position of G keys are horrible, I keep pressing G5 thinking it's CTRL and keep pressing G1 thining it's ESC. The 1st and 2nd are pretty big flaws - checkout some real reviews on Amazon. Oh, Btw, rest everythign is great, typing is amazing.
Some peoples reviews linear sounds amazingly quiet and on this it’s disappointingly loud. I dunno who to trust 🤣 also can’t find linear in stock anywhere! 😭
Overpriced. This thing will wear off really fast just like other Logitech Keyboard thanks to their love to use cheap ABS caps. Would it kills them to finally use a PBT for their high end boards? They're so stingy.
Update: someone on Logitech messed it up and it should’ve been $20 off (179 instead of 199) but made the $20 as the price! Luckily I put my order in beforehand :))
@@D0BackFlips it hasn't!! but as long as they haven't sent an email out saying it's cancelled i think we're good... i backordered mine too so maybe it's a stock issues

I need to make a "Scroll Lock" on/off color indicator.
Anyone know how I can pull that off?
Now the hard part this kb or ducky mecha mini or razer huntsman elite hmmm
good in-depth review bud keep it up
Thanks Riyaad 😎
There the a high chance I'll get this keyboard. Kinda like the low profile but not the width of it. Uses too much of table space =/ Cool review btw, just nice when I'm researching around.
Thanks for commenting ShiranuiTV. I’m glad you found the video helpful 😁
I'm also considering a Keychron K1, Hexgear X-1 or Logitech MX Keys.
just got it on Wootware, keys feel amazing to type on but the non-lit secondary keys can be a bit of an issue
Brilliant! I’m sure you will thoroughly enjoy your new keyboard 🤩
Does anyone know if there is a way to remap the media keys? I hate the order they're in.
Why are some of the special characters not lit up? I mean for this price
i like the rain effect gigabyte has but you cant get on logi
would be great if the scroll wheel could be scroll webpages and g1 button to be left click or double click
Hi. Can you sync the RGB of this keyboard and the G915 with whats happening on the screen?
Yes you can, with the G Hub program.
Interesting, the W key on my ASUS laptop is loose too
I like the keyboard, but I’ll just have to correct you here: Logitech did NOT develop the GL seitches. They are just rebranded kailh choc switches, which are still very nice.
Good video.
Personally I would go with the Logitech since that is the brand I prefer.
a usb pass through, takes up less usb slots on your computer. How did you work that out?!?!
You really felt the need to explain to us what a keyboard is?
Some peoples reviews linear sounds amazingly quiet and on this it’s disappointingly loud. I dunno who to trust 🤣 also can’t find linear in stock anywhere! 😭
good video
worth it in 2024 for 139?
Moooooooooooooooooooole, molley molley mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooole.
Got me to pull the trigger m8
Anyone that owns an 815 or 915 have a bend or bow on their board?
Noice man
im in love :):):)
It’s a very good keyboard 💁🏼
@@HansHaupt too bad it’s not available in Mauritius 😢
Overpriced. This thing will wear off really fast just like other Logitech Keyboard thanks to their love to use cheap ABS caps. Would it kills them to finally use a PBT for their high end boards? They're so stingy.
3years later on an Orion 810 with RomerG. No fading/wear and probably has over 4,000 hrs on it...
malkovich vibes
how is it $20 right now??? logitechg.com website
Pqthon I know! Hope they mail them out. I bought one before it went back up.
Update: someone on Logitech messed it up and it should’ve been $20 off (179 instead of 199) but made the $20 as the price! Luckily I put my order in beforehand :))
@@D0BackFlips did yours ship?
Pqthon nope. I’m worried! Yours?
@@D0BackFlips it hasn't!! but as long as they haven't sent an email out saying it's cancelled i think we're good... i backordered mine too so maybe it's a stock issues
ASMRgasm 😂😂😂
Heck yes 🤩😈
You talk too much about it feels....... and not nearly enough about it's use. They do have a use you know.
