    There was a story with that air-cooled engines of Tatras.
    When the first trucks came to the USSR most of them got overheated during driving. Therefore Tatra had complains about poor cooling system.
    Tatra sent an employee to the USSR and he turned the engine ON, then revved it to max rpms and no overheating occurs.
    In the end of the story it turns that traditional old-scool drivers never raised engine rpms trying to keep it minimal even on high loads. Because old engines had to work like that. But air-cooled Tatra engines needed high revs to get better cooling.

      @elekl4621 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not just Tatra engines, all fuel-powered engines are cooled by the fuel. I doubt the Tatra had more torque on higher revs, it just needed diesel to cool it.

    The Deutz engine is an agricultural engine used in Deutz-Fahr DX 85 and DX 90. I think it was succeeded by the 6.1 litre Turbo intercooler used in Deutz-Fahr 97-07 MK1-3 and newer Agrotrons for 110-150HP and bigger Agrotrons at the time used 7.1 litre engines upto 260hp and 7.8L for 9340 340hp in 2015, Deutz-Fahr made a 9.6 litre used in some Fendts. All of these are still in use…

    I am a big fan of aircooled engines, no water, no radiator, no water pump, no water hoses, so simple! Lot of weight eliminated. I lament the passing of air cooled engines. Choice of whether head gaskets are used, beetle motor- no head gasket needed. Air cooled engines such as type 1 and type 4 VW engines -so simple to work on.
    All these wasser cooler engines have components with limited life spans. Air coolers keep on keeping on until engine wears out. I miss my Porsche 911 air cooler. Bought it when my 911 was 18 years old, owned it five years, and drove 130,000km put on the speedo. Only expense was replace fuel pump and got technician to dismantle starter solenoid to clean and fix starting problem when it was warm. Total non normal service expense in 5 years - $300. So glad it was not watercooled. at those mileages, cooling system was bound to start exhibiting problems and costs.
