Marc has made my life all the better,just watching him thru the years and applying that same devotion to music and woodworking,and still skating too. People talk about transcending or reaching some 9th degree in life Marc has done that already,I hope he knows or accepts this,I mean he has 40 and 50 yr old men professing everything to him and deserves it!
You remember the truly amazing stuff, you keep it on tap in your brain. I was bragging to a film school agent yesterday how skateboarding videos taught me my favorite music growing up.
I grew up skating in south San jose. Started in 93/94. There was nearly nothing going on in the skateboarding world. There was Go Skate board shop in a couple places somehow. No skateparks unless you went to derby which wasn't it. We had out curbs at a couple spots..sometimes older dudes would be there..those guys would always tear it up. Skate mags were everything. Skate jams, were the sickest things to ever happen during those times. It was a way cooler time I think. It was more appreciated more unique and even more special. People reeeally didn't like skateboarding or skateboarders which was strange but I liked that. Skateboarding then really blew up as the 90s ended and 2000s kicked in..but that little early era was the best I've seen yet. I still skate but gettin older. It's definitely done me good. I dont know what it would all be to me without my skateboard. I don't really know what everyone else does for fun. But I'll tell you this- it's not as good as our skateboarding world. It just can't be. It found us or we found it. Either way, we're all lucky to all be a part of it in these short weird lives we got. And even luckier if we can share it with someone new.

And what Marc breakdown in the later part of the interview is the role skateboarding played and bumping into certain people that lead him into his new reality. Big brother would be fucking awesome these days. Thrasher will always be my favorite, but BB was my first skate magazine I ever got. Pretty sure from Borders back when those existed. And I picked it over skateboarder, Transworld and Thrasher...the Nate Sherwood cover and interview. Of all the magazines to have be your first one, fucking Nate Sherwood doing pressure flips like a kook. It was awesome
I see skating on instagram every day that isn't stylish, isn't original, is trying too hard, and no one has the balls to say it because then you'd be labeled an asshole. Kevin Bradley talking against Suciu is the only time in recent memory that someone spoke their mind. It was an unpopular opinion but at least he had the guts to speak his mind
